About

Millennial Choirs and Orchestras on Tour

Though it may be cliché to say that a group have taken the country by storm — by growing to feature over 2,500 participants a year in ensembles rooted in five states across the country — the Millennial Choirs and Orchestras have done just that. Focused on classical and sacred music, this community group gives transcendent performances of both well-known works and new compositions, situating themselves as one of the country's most important collectives.

Millennial Choirs and Orchestras is a choir for youth and adults, and also includes a symphony orchestra. Founded by brothers Brandon Stewart and Dr. Brett Stewart in 2007, the MCO is a nonprofit group for people of all faiths and ages, operated by the organization Millennial Music. Its first ensemble was the Orange County Millennial Choirs and Orchestra, started in Orange County, California. A second group started in Arizona in 2009 as the East Valley Millennial Choirs and Orchestra. In 2013, groups sprang up in Texas and Utah. That same year, the MCO was invited to perform at the National Conference of the American Choral Directors Association in Dallas. Another iteration of the group began in Boise, Idaho, in 2015. The following year, all five ensembles teamed up to head out on the God & Country tour. In 2017, musicians from the five groups got together to perform at the Salt Lake Tabernacle in Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The MCO collective have released at least five albums. The second, Messiah in America, was a recording of an oratorio composed by Dr. Brett Stewart. The libretto, from Stewart and Bruce Richardson, was compiled from the Book of Mormon and the Bible. The music chronicled Christ's visits to the Americas as depicted in the Book of Mormon. The work was written for choir, children's chorus, soprano, alto, tenor and bass soloists, full orchestra and organ. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Traditional Classical Albums chart.

    Interesting

by jwirish on 12/10/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

These are very tallented people that have put in a lot of time to perfect their craft. The children were adorable and their songs were nice. I came away with the thought that this missed the mark. It was an interesting concert. It wasn't great nor did I come away with the feeling that I had been uplfted for the Holiday. None of us in our party thought it was as good as we have seen in the past. But it was interesting. We will still support the group but I hope it gets better with the seletion of music.

    Excellent! Uplifting! Parking was fantastic

by SanClarMum on 12/10/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

Seating arranged so that everyone can have a great view of the stage. Door monitors were helpful & knowledgeable. Security was swift. Getting into parking was a little difficult with the traffic lights but we were amazed at how the parking staff got things moving to clear out the parking after the event--it was incredible!

by Aquaman on 4/25/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

I took my father to it for his birthday, and suffice it to say, we were both in tears by the end of the second song. Amazing musicians, stellar transitions, great audience, and a phenomenal performance.

    Millennial Choir and Orchestra

by Norma J on 4/23/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

This was an amazing concert. The multitude of singers of all ages, the incredible arrangements of both old favorites and less known pieces, the sheer magnitude of sound and talent, and the obvious and observable passion of all participants was breathtaking. Next appearance, sign me up for sure!

    Phenomenal!

by L. W. on 4/23/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

I've been to many classical concerts over the decades, local, New York, Tokyo, Sydney, Mexico City, and consequently I'm not easily impressed. This was one of the very finest concerts I've attended. If you have a love for choral productions, you will find it stunning and delightful. Boise residents are very fortunate.

Overwhelming. Uplifting. Not To Be Missed!

by R.G. on 4/23/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

Not only have I never before encountered so much musical talent across so many performers and conductors, the message of the music was more timely and needed in my life and in our modern world than ever before. World Class delivery. God really does live. He is interested in our happiness. His Son, Jesus Christ, is central to accomplishing every aspect of His Plan. The music of this group delivers those messages more powerfully than anything I have ever encountered, and the world today needs this group to help turn the tide of hopelessness. I'm telling all my friends and neighbors about MCO!

    MCO

by Micheledjr45 on 5/1/18Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

I have attended many productions over the course of my life. None have ever surpassed what I experienced on Saturday night. I’ve seen Les Miserables on Broadway twice and the orchestration and vocals MCO were in that category. Thank you so much for providing this kind of opportunity.

    MCO - So So

by MCOSoSo on 5/1/18Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

I attended the MCO Christmas Concert, enjoying it to the utmost. The Songs of the Heart concert was too much "yelling" type of singing...much of it too loud. The songs on the program seemed more for a Thanksgiving theme, I expected more tender feeling type numbers. I appreciate the work and planning that takes place, but there seemed to be too much off and on and up and down of the singers. Also, there seemed to be a strong Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints tone. I enjoy a more diversified concert. I will continue to attend the Christmas concert, but will forgo the Spring concert. Thank You.
