Mike Phillips and Friends provided a high energy, eclectic music experience. I especially liked that he included up and coming musicians in his show. I will be glad to say I was there as new careers were launched!
I love Mike Phillips. This is the first time I've seen him live and it won't be the last. Trina Broussard and Frederic Yonnet were equally amazing. I didn't know a harmonica could sound so good. I will be looking for Frederic's cd and I already have Mike's. Great job, all of you.
Simply awesome! I was floored with the enthusiasm and phenominal sound! A jam session at one time and a intro/lession in 'ol school jazz with the greats the next! Mike Phillips has one of the biggest hearts you can imagine for a young artist. The atmosphere at the Birchmere is great; good drinks but didn't get a chance to eat. I was too excited!!! I don't think there is a bad seat in the place! Kudos to Birchmere, great venue; and also to Mike Phillips and this guy Frederic Yonnet; they bring a new meaning to jazz musicians! I will go see Mike in Bangladesh if I have to!!!! What he's giving to music, you haven't seen in a long, long time! MIss Broussard was great, also! Nice voice!
I have been to many shows at the Birchmere andall were good; this was absolutely one that ranks in the top 5. What fun and the talent was extraordinary!! Trina was GREAT and Mike Phillips and friends were WOW!!!
Would definitely pay to see Trina again. Would have been great if Mr. Phillips kept to more of a jazz genre; vs hip hop, electro-funk rifts. Also would have been nice to segway into Mr. Yonnet segment via a solo piece. 3 stars because Ms. Broussard is just a fabulous singer and she nailed the Chaka Khan and Minnie covers.
I thoroughly enjoyed this show and Mr Phillips showcased some awesome new talent. Mr. Yonnet was amazing and Ms. Broussards voice was as expected, exceptional. Great venue, great line up!
Mike Phillips and Friends (Frederick Yonnet and Trina Brousard and the Band) put on a spectacular show tonight at Birchmere. I loved it and definately will see them everytime they come back. Phillips and Yonnet have such an infectous energy that you can't help but get up and groove with them. Great show for all ages. Mike Philly ya"ll.
