Miike Snow is an indie electro-pop trio comprised of writer/producers Chris Karlsson, Pontus Winnberg, and Andrew Wyatt that debuted in 2009 on the label Downtown Records. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Karlsson and Winnberg are best known as the production duo Bloodshy & Avant. As such, they worked with a range of international pop stars during the early 2000s, including Britney Spears, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, and Ms. Dynamite. Most notably, their production of Spears' 2004 chart-topping smash hit "Toxic" won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording in 2005. Based in New York City, Wyatt is a writer/producer who formerly collaborated in the groups Black Beetle and the A.M. with Joan Wasser and Michael Tighe, respectively. He's also an in-house producer for Downtown Records (Spank Rock, Amanda Blank) and a member of the band Fires of Rome, which made its full-length album debut with You Kingdom You (2009). Founded in 2007, Miike Snow brought the talents of the three together in one group, and the commercial debut single "Animal" was released on Downtown Records in 2009. A batch of promotional MP3s was also released and proved popular in the music blogosphere. Among this initial batch of MP3s were the songs "Animal" and "Burial," along with remixes of these songs by DJ Mehdi, Crookers, Benny Blanco, and Treasure Fingers; plus, there was a Miike Snow remix of the Vampire Weekend song "The Kids Don't Stand a Chance." The trio's full-length album debut was released later in the year on Downtown Records and the group departed for a North American tour. In 2012, they founded the indie label Ingrid with Lykke Li, Dungen, and Peter Bjorn and John, before releasing their second full-length Happy to You. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
second time seeing the band, last time was outdoors, this was smaller indoor. amazing!
I was lucky I saw Miike Snow at House of Blues on Sept. 27 and also at Radio City. The show in Boston was flawless and absolutely breathtaking, everyone in the band was up to Miike Snow high standards (especially drumming and vocals were superb, in my view). I danced my head off. They were also magnificent at Radio City. The sound was very good. Guitars were rocking. Andrew Wyatt's falsetto was fantastic as always. The setlist was great and included gems from all three albums. They really killed Animal, it was so good and energetic. Stage design was very Miike Snow, original and very postmodern light installation, very bright colors occasionally with stars like effects and with a smoke. The audience (both venues were packed) was excited and very happy. Such an incredible experience and impeccable show! Bravo, Miike Snow! And thank you so much!
I've been going to concerts for many years and I've never before been to a concert where you can't even see the performance because the band, including the lead singer, are in the dark without any spotlights. Honestly: about 85% of the concert we could not see a thing, the stage was near total darkness. I love their music and they sounded great, but hey, we came to see a concert, not just listen to music. Plus the video screens hanging from the ceiling were turned off! C'mon Miike! We want to actually see you guys!
Miike Snow are wildly talented. Not the best venue for them, but they are so so good.
Amazing show as always. The show not only matched the prestige of the venue but superseded it even. The lighting engineering was something I've never seen before, it was entertaining, beautiful and sophisticated. The sound was just tremendous, sitting smack middle of the Orchestra helped I am sure, but I wasn't going to have it any other way. Miike Snow is the best band out there currently, hands down! I only wish people just sat down. The seats are there to sit on! You pay a premium for a premium venue. Act like you deserve to be there. For all of our enjoyment!
Miike Snow did not fail to deliver a great show. Danced all night long. Great encores!!! Animal!
Miike Snow put on a great concert at the Newport here in Columbus, OH. The cover band Mona was excellent, vocalist has a Chvrches sound. Miike Snow brought out many of the hits, won't spoil it for you, but you'll definitely leave happy!
As an avid Miike Snow fan, any chance to see the band would be unforgettable. But they sounded so amazing that it was truly a treat. They had amazing energy. I danced so hard I hurt myself!
It was great to hear this guy after listening to his material for years. His performance didn't rely heavily on vocal augmentation like the recordings. Those effects were present but didn't steal the show. It was front mans Andrew Wyatt's unique stage presence that kept me wondering what flavor of performance he would provide next. Each song had a different feel from the last and each had a different sound that made it stand out compared to the studio recording. The lighting and LCD screen effects almost stole the show! It was also great to see each of the band members take turns playing all of the instruments. From guitar, drums, synths, to keyboard, they could do it all.
The show was poolside and with a great view of the strip! The opening act was great. Slight mic problems, but Miike Snow overcame them. All in all great show!
Such an amazing venue with a smaller crowd. Definitely enjoyed this show. Unforgettable.
Beautiful show! Beautiful people! I loved every minute of the show. I heard almost all of my favorite songs! The energy during the Silvia performance was absolutely magical! So glad I went!
The venue staffing were very friendly, and overall a great experience !
AWESOME SHOW and kaneholler was great as well. Would recommend to everyone
Decent show, venue looks like an old church community center didn't fit the band at all
Great show. Played a nice mix of new songs off their latest album and all their big hits. I can only think of a couple of other songs I would have liked to hear. Really walked away feeling like I had heard the best of Miike Snow. Liked the opening band KaneHoller a whole lot. I had never heard of them and became an immediate fan.
Loved seeing Miike Snow at the Buckhead Theater! What great artists and what incredible energy!! They did a cool job at mixing their new songs with their past hits. Couldn't stop dancing the entire night! So much fun!!! Oh! And KANEHOLLER, their opening act was amazing! Didn't know lead singer was Tyler Perry's younger daughter - soo good!
They performed the music better than it sounds on the album. What else can you ask for?
I will be as unbiased as possible. I would ACTUALLY give this show 4 stars and a half, but that isn't allowed. And this is coming from a die hard Miike Snow fan who dreamt of seeing them at the El Rey and couldn't! There were a few flaws! One of the things that intrigued me most about this show, was the opener. I was in the center pit and I saw the performance 3 feet away the maximum and I gotta disagree with the reviews here -- the sound was great! I think it was a little overbearing where my ears would start to tingle and vibrate -- but it wasn't consistent throughout the whole night as people were claiming. Andrew really knows how to put on a show even though I personally don't think he has a lot of stage presence. The whole band does a lot and they handled the situation pretty well during "Sans Solei" (Andrew was pissed and i know sound production got it after the show finished) Overall, great experience. The setlist was great! After seeing them live, I have a whole new perspective of when I listen to their music. Love them and i would highly recommend.
I was looking forward to this show as his albums are great to listen to and incredibly catchy. The sound was awful from the start. Everything was turned up full blast, we could barely hear what he was saying or some of the instruments that have key melody lines. I thoguht it might have been because we were upstairs at first, but it was even worse when we stood in the pit facing him. I have never walked out of a concert before - tried to stay but left after about 5 songs.
