Most anticipated weekend of the year

by Jodi on 4/23/24Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center - Madison

We have been attending Horse Fair every year for a decade. This year was our first time participating with a horse. We go to the rodeo both nights, try to see every drill team, watch the Grand March and make sure we don’t miss Liberty at the end of the day. There are some really high quality clinicians who provide loads of information and education. This event is very well organized, venue is kept clean, tack sale is nuts but worth the chaos, nice variety in food vendors (prices are pretty lofty, though), special events (breakfast with Amberley Snyder this year) are cool. Highly recommend for anyone who is a bit horse crazy.

It was a very fun rodeo to be apart of. It was sold out so it was so much fun. I had a very good time there.

    Good, but could be better

by Dusti on 4/22/24Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center - Madison

Is there any way to give a few minutes between clinics? If you're at one clinic that ends at 3, and you want to see another that starts at 3, you end up leaving the first clinic early, or staying to the end and missing the start of the next. It's disruptive to the clinician and the others attending. Something to think about. Next, PLEASE enforce the no dogs rule. I saw several dogs that were not wearing service dog harnesses. I don't enjoy a dog sniffing me up while the owner pays no attention. The wagon/shopping cart thing is getting out of hand. It's hard enough to negotiate the crowded aisles without getting run over by gigantic carts. The small wheeled totes were OK, but now we have huge wagons being dragged over our feet and smacking into our ankles. Put a size limit on them! The benches/chairs at various locations were a welcome touch for tired feet. Also enjoyed the Sunday afternoon competition in the main arena. it's nice to see the versatility of the horses and their riders. Please remind the clinicians of the specifics of their clinic. I went to 2 clinics where the clinician spent the first 30 minutes introducing the riders and their horses or talking about things unrelated to that clinic. OR having 5 horses in the clinic but focusing on one rider while the others stand around. And how about some bigger names - Western and English. Sorry to be so critical, but you asked !

Saturday April 20th, Rodeo at Mid West Horse Fair.

by Gina on 4/22/24Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center - Madison

The seats we bought, sect 301, row H, seats 10, 11, 12, & 13, should have been sold as obstructed view. The obstruction was the banners hanging from rail. The bull riding is our favorite event and we could not see any of the action. We were very disappointed.

    Much to see

by Amy on 4/22/24Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center - Madison

So much to see and do for all horse enthusiasts. Easy to find what you need and what you want. Even if you didn’t know it going in.

    Fun Experience!

by Mullins on 4/22/24Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center - Madison

This was my first rodeo and it was very interesting and entertaining. The hosts were amusing and helped educate the audience on what the rules were for each event. They kept things moving and had entertainment during the downtimes between rodeo events which was great.

The Midwest Horse Fair is well organized and everyone I dealt with was friendly and personable. Wonderful vendors and informative clinics! Looking forward to next year

    So much fun!

by Tracy on 4/22/24Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center - Madison

I took my granddaughters for the 14th birthday and we all had a blast. It was very entertaining and did not disappoint. Never a dull moment. They already want to go back next year! The rodeo tickets didn't include admission, so I'd recommend getting entry tickets at Farm & Fleet for the best price as it appeared to cost more at the gate.

    I Go Every Year

    by Mel on 4/9/24

As I said, I have gone every year since I was a kid. Of course I pretty much go by myself now but I find plenty of things to do and see. Plus, always looking at the model horses to add to my collection. Even if a bit pricey at times.

    Horse Lovers' Paradise

by MHF Fan on 5/2/23Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center - Madison

Something for every discipline. Plenty for "non-horse" people too. My only criticism is of the many empty seats at the so-called "sold-out" Rodeo Saturday night. There had been many people online trying to get tickets. Don't know if this was also true at the Friday night event.

    Enjoyable day

by JD on 4/19/23Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center - Madison

Once we passed the electronic ticket hurdle (I mean, seriously? if you're going to go electronic, at least have the proper equipment...especially if it's raining! I dont want you to handle my phone...) we were able to park in an OK spot and find our way inside. This was my first visit since the new buildings have been in use. We enjoyed wandering, speaking with groups in the barns, meeting up with old friends, shopping at the 4H sale and in the expo.

    Worse every year !

by D. S. on 4/19/23Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center - Madison

Half of vendors no longer coming. Half of food vendors also. Most people who bring their animals don't want you to even look at them. Only bright spot was the Blacksmith competition.

Show ... great! Getting in via cell phone...nightmare!

by BeBe on 4/19/23Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center - Madison

Could not get my ticket info up, and the gate attendants also had a great deal of trouble. Had to pull off to the side while I had three people trying to figure it out. After about 15 minutes, they finally found the info. and I got in. This was so horrible, ruined my day.

    Absolutely amazing

by Dylan l on 4/19/23Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center - Madison

I love every single thing about the show. So many horses and venders. Plenty to choose from and do throughout the day. Always clean. Keep up the good work. Been coming for about 17 years

    Midwest Horse Fair

by Cindy on 4/18/23Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center - Madison

Rodeo was a lot of fun. Seminars and clinics were disappointing. No big names in the training world. Newer people have to develop a following but no one familiar was there. Shopping good but expensive. Will probably go again next year but will think about it.
