The Oils still got it. I would have given it 5 stars, but I was so upset about my seats that it diminished the concert for me.
I saw them in the early 90's and they haven't lost a step. Awesome beyond words
Great show. Haven't seen them in over 20 years. They sounded just as good as they did before they disbanded.
A nice venue with great sound. I was surprised how clear things were even on the floor. The band sounded crisp, well rehearsed and they honestly looked happy to be back onstage together. I thought the set list was a pretty good representation of their career. There was a slight lull around the halfway point (but remember they haven't been on the road in years and, hate to say it, but they are getting older. Starting with Warakurna, though, they really ramped it up and kicked ass on through the end.
The 15 year hiatus hasn't slowed down one of the most dynamic acts to see live! Rehearsing their entire 170 song catalog, before the tour has paid off. Not only was the performance tight, but the tracks were deep. The energy was incredible!!! But don’t worry, they just didn’t play some obscure songs that a typical listener wouldn’t recognize, they also played their hits! And unlike some acts that seem like playing a hit is a chore, they played every song with the same power and passion that fans have come to expect. With such a deep catalog to draw from, Midnight Oil is surprising their fans with B sides and even an unreleased song now and then!
I had wanted to see Midnight Oil live since high school (yes, the late 80's). Missed them the last time they were here due to a schedule conflict. To say this was a great show would be an understatement. They were AMAZING!! So many great songs! Watching Peter Garrett bounce all over the stage for 2+ hours was a treat. They have an amazing library of great songs, and they really have done a lot to stand up for what they believe in, especially in Australia. CenterStage is a great venue. Only negatives are the seat I was in was almost broken, so that got uncomfortable. The issue with folks who insist on LOUD conversations throughout any concert has gotten out of hand. Not sure what venue staff can do about it, but I wish it would stop before folks start getting in fights about it. A great night for sure and I am glad the Oils made it back to the USA after 15 years. Well worth the wait.
Being a huge fan since the 80's this was a show not to be missed in ATL. Saw the set list from Sydney and while I knew we wouldn't see that kind of deep set as the "home team" would, we got a good show and the boys were on their game musically 100%! Peter Garret is still a live wire and delivers as only he can. Would have loved some add'l earlier tracks (Bus to Bondi please?) and more from "10-1" and "Red Sails" since at least half the show was "later period" tunes, but all in all a very pleasing show. Been a while since we have been to Center Stage and it was still a good room with excellent views from any seat in the house.
Played nearly 2 1/2 hours with a four song encore. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. they give you your moneys worth and more.
the concert was fine but be prepared for a good dose of socialist indoctrination and critical comments of the US political leadership. It's unfortunate that we have to pay to hear political commentary from entertainers, who think they are experts in these complicated issues, when we are just trying to have a couple of hours where we can get away from all this.
The boys never disappoint - saw them in 1985, 2001 and now 2017 - this tine with my 11 yr old son. The gift that keeps on giving. Inspired lyrics ... music with purpose.
