Michelle Obama on Tour

Former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama is no stranger to the public eye. The Chicago native maintained a highly visible presence throughout husband Barack Obama's two terms as President of the United States, and was comfortable in any situation: serving as an international ambassador, visiting schools, or moving and grooving at a Beyoncé concert. Like other first ladies, Obama is also using her post-White House time to make a difference in the world. A galvanizing speaker known for her down-to-earth delivery and real-talk approach, she embarked on a book tour in support of her 2018 memoir, ‘Becoming,' with appearances full of storytelling and conversation.

About Michelle Obama

Born in Chicago, Michelle Obama grew up in a loving household that prioritized family and education. Accordingly, she holds an undergraduate degree from Princeton and a law degree from Harvard. Although Obama did practice law—in fact, she met future husband and President of the United States Barack Obama while working at a firm—she also held multiple private-sector jobs. Most notably, she was the founding executive director of the Chicago branch of Public Allies, a nonprofit focused on cultivating leadership in younger generations.

As First Lady of the United States for eight years starting in 2009, Obama continued to seek out socially conscious causes that benefit the greater good. She championed women's rights and education for girls; became a vocal supporter of military families and spouses; and promoted healthy eating via multiple initiatives, including the "Let's Move!" campaign to decrease childhood obesity. Since leaving the White House, she's continued to be an outspoken advocate for gender equality, education, and political diversity. More recently, she released her second book, the 2018 memoir ‘Becoming,' which follows 2012's New York Times best seller ‘American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America.'

    Amazing person

    by G. D. on 10/14/19FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

From the moment Michelle Obama started to speak until it ended, she had my attention. She showed how caring, thoughtful and appreciative she was with her life. It was such a pleasure to have this opportunity to attend this event.

    Like watching paint dry...

    by I. A. on 10/14/19Canadian Tire Centre - Kanata

This was a lacklustre hour by a woman of incredible intellect and experience. It was more like a local tv interview than a performance ! It was all wrong unfortunately with A small crowd in a giant venue, really poor audio bounce, and a stage setup that was ill-suited to the person and the subject!! Sitting was wrong in my opinion. She is a dynamic person and should have been walking about the stage ENGAGING the audience and challenging the people. Finally to pay that kind of money for just over an hour...unacceptable...a cash grab. Not good at all, but she is still a fine person of substance!

MIchelle Obama was amazing, parking exit was a nightmare

by Maryanne on 10/14/19Canadian Tire Centre - Kanata

Michelle Obama gave a wonderful and inspirational "conversation". She was engaging, informative, warm, and funny. Michelle made us all want to do better, be kinder and more caring. This was almost all taken away by the 1 hour and 45 minute (very nearly as long as Michelle's conversation) trying to get out of the CTC parking lot. I think when you pay $15.00 for parking at an already expensive (well worth it) event, the exit should be managed and staffed. I have been to many events, sold out hockey games and concerts at the CTC, where the exit wasn't this painful. There is no excuse for the unreasonable delay trying to get out of the parking lot.

    Too short

by wennis on 10/14/19FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

Michelle Obama was a delight to listen to. However, the event was just over an hour long and that was far too short for the amount of money it cost and the travel time to get there. I left feeling disappointed.

She was great, venue organization sucked

by A. on 9/27/19Bell MTS Place - Winnipeg

She was even better than barrack. However with it being lunch time, they did not have enough doors to support the amount of people coming. Until 20 minutes into the show people were still finding their seats.

    Wonderful Michelle

by Marbles on 9/27/19Bell MTS Place - Winnipeg

I loved the show! She is a wonderful speaker. All of her warmth, intelligence, humour, and kindness comes through naturally. I appreciated that our seats were changed to better ones when the venue was not full-this put everyone in a good frame of mind and made the crowd more connected. Did not appreciate going through 2 long lines because there was no one outside directing traffic. It was not necessary and could have easily been fixed by one person. Once the show started, there were a lot of people coming in late which was distracting and annoying. MTS needs to do a better job on that.

    An Afternoon with Michelle Obama!

by Natasha on 9/27/19Bell MTS Place - Winnipeg

The venue (MTS Center) was spacious enough to host Michelle Obama's bustling crowd! Michelle was inspiring, riveting and didn't disappoint, if you ever get the opportunity to hear her speak take it!

    Great Speaker

    by D P on 9/27/19Bell MTS Place - Winnipeg

Obama was fantastic, as expected. Well worth the money. The terrible part was that I couldn’t see of concentrate because people were filling in until 20 minutes into her talk. The usher stood behind me and talked the entire time directing people to their seats for over half of the speech. They needed to do a better job of crowd control, getting people to their seats BEFORE Obama came out.

    Good experience

    by J. L. on 9/26/19Centre Videotron - Québec

Too short. The interviewer was not up to the task. Great speech anyway. Happy to have seen her live.
