About

Michael Bublé In Concert

Michael Bublé thought he knew what love was. After all, he's sold more than 60 million albums worldwide singing about the subject. But it turns out he had a lot to learn.

The week that his last album, 2016's Nobody But Me was released, Bublé and his family went through an emotional journey that informed and changed his life.. He was understandably unsure how or if music was going to remain part of his life. "What the experience did was give me a real perspective.. It completely changed my outlook on what mattered and what was important to me."

But the desire to express himself creatively slowly came back into focus when Bublé invited his band mates over to his house, not with the intention of making music, but simply to enjoy each other's company and drink, eat pizza and play video games.

"Once we got bored with that, we started jamming and there was this wonderful click, this moment where I went, 'Oh, yeah! I forgot how much I loved this'," Bublé recalls. "I think I just needed a little helpful reminder." The concept for the new album (pronounced Love) flowed. "Then, the only question was not 'Am I going back to work.' It was 'Can I do it on my terms? Can I do the songs I love with the people I love the way that I love and do it with pure joy and bliss?' And once I knew that was possible, it was a go."

Bublé's vision entailed looking at love in all its facets, both sacred and profane. "This would be my group of short stories that would be my theory of love," he says. "The good, the bad, the light, the dark, and I think that took a lot of pressure off of [Bublé's co-producers] David Foster and Jochem van der Saag and me. There was just great ease of having done our homework and knowing what the record was."

His mission became clearer as he picked the songs - or as he says, "I know it sounds so artsy-fartsy, but I think the songs chose me. It's strange how the universe will just drop things into your lap."

Bublé anchors Love with songs from The Great American Songbook, often reinventing timeless classics with dazzling new arrangements. His haunting interpretation of "My Funny Valentine" is as menacing as it is melodic. Bublé and Cécile McLorin Salvant turn "La Vie En Rose" into a poetic bi-lingual duet, while Bublé and Loren Allred put a new twist on Kris Kristofferson's "Help Me Make It Through The Night." Charlie Puth contributes backing vocals on "Love You Anymore," which the hitmaker co-wrote with frequent Bublé collaborator Johan Carlsson. The emotional centerpiece of the album is "Forever Love," a tune co-written by Bublé about his favorite role, being a dad, and the vulnerability and strength that comes with unconditional love.

Love stands as a testament to the power of music and its healing power--in this case, not just for the listener, but for Bublé too. "The truth is I needed to make this album," he says. "The truth is it was really therapeutic for me. I felt so comfortable. I mean, these songs, this genre, is the essence of me. It's where I live, it's where I've grown up... It fits me perfectly. It's so natural."

His return to the studio came with a purity of purpose and an even stronger sense of connection with his fans, whose unyielding outpouring of support lifted him and his family through the darkest times. "Going through what my family went through also gave me faith in people and humanity," he says. "I just felt really blessed in a lot of different ways-- obviously with the outcome with my boy and I also felt like I had been blessed with this wonderful opportunity in my life to do something that I love that could maybe have the positive impact out in the world that the world had on us."

Making Love brought Bublé a sense of joy that, in hindsight, he realized he'd been missing on recent projects. "I never felt so free [since] I started my career when I was never worried about the results because I was so overjoyed and grateful that I could be doing it at that capacity. I just might have forgotten that joy. I don't know if I remembered well enough the real reason of why I loved it. I wish that I didn't need something so harsh to teach me such a lesson, but it is what it is."

And now, as Love goes out into the world, Bublé hopes the music reaches those who might need to hear it the most and provide comfort to those in distress. "There are people that are gonna hear these songs and they're gonna be inspired to fall in love and there are people who are gonna hear these songs and they're gonna be hurting," he says. "They're gonna be, in many ways going through tough stuff. And if one of these songs lifts them out of that, if it can carry them to another day, I think then I'm doing my job and I think I'm being responsible for the gifts I've been given."

Over the course of his career, Michael Bublé has wowed fans at countless venues, like Madison Square Garde (NYC) and American Airlines Center (Dallas).

    Amazing

    by DzyLiz1 on 12/6/10Allstate Arena - Rosemont

The concert was wonderful. I was expecting the standard playlist kind of concert, but he took breaks in between songs to tell stories, introduce his band members, etc. It felt we were in a small venue, very personal. He is a wonderful singer and performer, but also seems like it would be fun to just sit and have a drink with!

Michael Buble is THE Entertainer of all time!

by LZMaja on 12/6/10Allstate Arena - Rosemont

I didn't think the the Allstate Arena would be a good venue for anything other than an ice show or hockey. It turned out to be the best venue for Michael because no matter where you were seated, you were able to clearly see Michael. The vibrant stage set and lighting was not to be beaten. It reflected Michael's vibrant personality, talent and great sense of humor. He is worth more than the price of admission.

    Enjoyable First Experience

by STARRPREZ on 12/6/10Allstate Arena - Rosemont

I bought the tickets for me and my girlfriend as a present for our 2nd anniversary. Admitedly, she is the Buble fan, and I simply like his music when she plays it. Well, this concert blew me away. Buble is a fine entertainer and performer, akin to the days of Sinatra concerts: classy, simple, and satisfying. There was no excessive or unnecessary flash, just talent and a fine ability to please the crowd.

    Super performer. Entertaining show.

by sarebearmom on 12/6/10Allstate Arena - Rosemont

Not only was the music great and Micheal was great but the whole show was entertaining. I have seen Naturally 7 and Michael Buble before but they always seem to put me in awe as to how talented Naturally 7 is and how Michaels personality is truly genuine. Every time Michael performs he makes me feel like this is the first time. He really seems to enjoy performing and entertaining the audience whether its the 1st time or the 1000th time. He gets the audience involved. He ended the show singing the past portion of his signature closing song without the microphone and band. His voice totally captivating the audience. It showed how sincere he was and how truly talented he is. Would see him every time if I could.

    As usual, Michael is incredible!

by sammysammysamsam on 12/6/10Allstate Arena - Rosemont

The show was amazing! He always puts on a pleasurable show and is highly energetic. I love when he ends the show acapella- it really demonstrates his vocal talents. He's even better live than on the CD's- which is not common today. But since this was his second time back to Chicago for this tour, it would have been nice to see him make it a little different than last time. A little extra spice would have been nice for the people who came to see him a second time :)

Michael Buble is a real showman!

    by TC1715 on 12/6/10Allstate Arena - Rosemont

Though the venue was huge and very cold, literally, Michael made it warm and intimate with not only his great voice in song, but his friendly and funny banter. He does a wonderful job of interacting with his audience! The staging and lighting were done to perfection. It was definitely one of the best shows overall that I have see. Thanks Michael!

I thought this concert was super! It started out great with the opening act then moved on to Michael Buble. The music was great and the set was great. It was like watching a Las Vegas show in GR.

    Michael Buble was unbelievable!!!!

    by Enforcer89 on 12/6/10Allstate Arena - Rosemont

I can't say enough about what a consummate performer Michael Buble is! This was the first time I saw him in concert, and I was blown away! Every aspect of his performance was incredible, from his singing to his interaction with the fans, which made him more endearing. I loved the way he would slide down the slight incline or across the stage! My 11 year old daughter cannot stop talking about what an incredible time she had at the concert. She says that Johnny Depp now takes a backseat to Michael Buble!!! I really appreciated that he took the time to acknowledge the fans and pose for pictures and tried to include everyone there, even us in the nosebleed seats! The ever changing big screens were great, especially the vertical screens in the center of the stage!!! I will definately see Michael Buble in concert again, and hopefully be able to get better seats!!!!

    Michael Buble was Great!

by Kabella on 12/6/10Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

I expected this concert to be good and laid- back. The concert was fanatastic, and not at all what I expected! After the opening number, MB shared that he hated concerts, cause if you wanted to listen to someone sing, you could just listen to their CD. So, he told us to get up and dance if we wanted. Performed a Michael Jackson song, part of a song from Black-Eyed-Peas, reinacted a scene from Ferris Beuler's Day Off, and for part of the last song, had the audience get quiet and sang WITHOUT A MICROPHONE in a stadium of 12,000 people, and we could all hear him. GREAT!!!!!

Better than I could have imagined!

    by Workingrl09 on 12/6/10Allstate Arena - Rosemont

I psyched myself out for this so much. I was ecstatic that I got tickets and I was so excited to finally be seeing Michael Buble (I have been a fan for years). Let me tell you that it was so much better I could have wished. Michael Buble was hilarious, which was unexpected. he sang all the favorites including his newest single. He was very grateful to the loving fans and his appreciation came through in his performance. I would recommend this show to anyone who enjoys good music.
