This is true Texas flavor..Amazing one of a kind rodeo; absolute must if you live in Texas and have never been or are visiting for your first time!!! Will attend many, many more...Definitely get seats by the bucking chutes if you can and bring cash for cold ones.
This is the perfect show for a tourist to get to know about Texas! 100% recommedned
We went to this rodeo as an alternative to the Ft. Worth Stockyards one, with our family in visiting from out of state, because we thought it would be larger and nicer. It was a little bit larger of an arena, but the rodeo itself was worse--which is probably why the seats on the Saturday night of Thanksgiving week were half empty. I thought the announcer did a pretty nice job of trying to rev up the energy of the half-full stands, but it was hard for him, given the lamest rodeo clown act I've ever seen and the half-hearted attempts by the cowboys themselves to compete. The several of the bulls and broncos were a joke, just standing there refusing to even come out of the stalls when they opened the doors for them to start bucking. Most of the bull riders didn't make even 2-3 seconds on their bulls--it was as if they were riding for the first time, or students or something. The team roping event was populated by cowboys who weren't even actual ropers, but just riding instructors from the nearby rodeo school--something like 8 out of 10 of the teams missed their roping entirely, and they were all just laughing about it as they shared horses and lassos. The rodeo skipped calf roping and steer wrestling entirely, as I guess they couldn't even find ringers to attempt those events. To tourists like my brother's family, watching their first rodeo, I guess it was fine--they were entertained and didn't know the difference--but to anyone else who knows what a decent rodeo is like, just do what almost all of Dallas/Mesquite did and skip this and save your money.
Hi all. I have been to this show earlier..but I am not sure what happened this time to the organizers...When we went last time it has been a great experience and it seems to be the show has been conducted in a grand manner. But it was missing this time...Most of the rodeo's seems to be inexperienced. But i would definitely recommend this event to the ppl who hasn't been to a rodeo show earlier....!!!
We took our family to the Rodeo. We all enjoyed watching the horses and bull riding.
