Fantastic, high energy show! Loved every minute of it! Very, very talented actors. Should have stayed on Broadway for 20 years.
I saw Memphis on Broadway years ago. This show has the same quality of actors...some may be even better. The show was fantastic! The voices outstanding. Highly recommend it. Would definitely go to more shows at this theater. Ticket prices are great!!!!!
This was a superb play. it exceeded my expectations. The cast was talented and enthusiastic clearly loving what they were doing
But, I really enjoyed this show and the cast was really into the presentation. Very energetic. The venue offers a dinner package that is a good value and was delicious.
Memphis is one of my favorite musicals. We saw it on Broadway 4 times and now once at the Santander. It was great again! I think the Santander needs to Advertise a little further away like Allentown and Bethlehem. That theater should have been sold out. The venue is great and the play was great. Bring more musicals to the Santander!!
What a musical!! The music from the 50's was great, the acting and dancing was exceptional. A very entertaining show with comedy and a good story. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The Vern Riffe Center was a very good venue to watch the performance.
Outstanding The choreography was excellent as was the story
Great show with great talent. Really powerful voices and great humor.
Too bad Memphis was only in town one night! It was a great show for the city of Detroit, with equal parts entertainment and history. The actors were fabulous and their voices even more so. The choreography could have been a little tighter, but overall a great show.
Uplifting and inspiring. The songs were great and the story line even better. And of course, we LOVE the FOX!
We left at intermission....the music was forgettable, and the story line was non-existent. Very slow, and I wondered how this play had won Tony awards in the past.
Very disappointing. I thought the production was far below professional standards. Felicia Farrell (Zuri Washington) has a spectacular voice and I enjoyed her. The rest of the cast was mediocre or less. The dancing was choppy. The songs all sounded alike to me. I expected a lot more from this show.
The musical was totally engaging. Dance and singing were of good quality. Since the play was from an era I strongly relate to and remember, it was especially enjoyable to me and my wife. Thanks, Fox, for hosting an entertaining production!
The production was light on the music and heavy on the political statement. I was disappointed. We left at intermission.
Enjoyed the story which showed the transition between Black Music, Rhythm and Blues to todays rock and roll......and the racial boundries that began to fall when White America embraced the sound... The Dancers were excellent, the lead charectors were engaging....very pleasant performance.
We had expected popular 50's songs to be included - not. However, the specially written songs tied in well to the storyline making this a better story than most musicals I have seen. The music was good - just new to us. the acting was enjoyable and the characters worked for their money. Hugh disdained rules and was poorly educated but still was a success because he believed in the product and himself. Some decent humor along with a statement about bigotry that existed then and we have seen become prominent again. All in all - worth the money!
Memphis: The Musical was a delightful experience to have. Filled with fantastic music, comedy, dancing, and shocking truths. If you enjoy musicals then you have to put Memphis at the top of your list for events to attend. HUKADOO
My sister and I saw the Friday night showing and it was amazing. The storyline was original, the cast was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
The songs that were conversation were not clear. The words were pushed to fit the music.
