Memphis Grizzlies History
As the Vancouver Grizzlies, the team joined the NBA in 1995 along with the Toronto Raptors as the league expanded to Canada. The Grizzlies’ early struggles — six consecutive seasons with no more than 23 victories — hurt attendance. Ownership found open arms in Memphis, and moved the franchise there in 2001.
The first year in Memphis, they drafted forward Pau Gasol, who would go on to win NBA Rookie of the Year, become the franchise's first All-Star and, eventually, the Grizzlies' all-time leading scorer and rebounder. In 2002, the Grizzlies brought on Jerry West as general manager, and the franchise reversed course. In the 2003–04 season, they posted a winning record, making the playoffs for the first of three consecutive seasons.
A four-year absence followed, but sparked by Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay, and Mike Conley, and helmed by coach Lionel Hollins, the Grizzlies returned to the playoffs in the 2010–11 season, upsetting the San Antonio Spurs in the first round before losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games in the conference semifinals. It was the first of seven consecutive playoff appearances for the “Grit and Grind” Grizzlies.
The 2020–21 season saw the Grizzlies finish the season with a winning record (38-34) and win two play-in games to clinch the eighth seed in the Western Conference.

Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum
The Grizzlies have called FedExForum home since 2004, three years after the franchise relocated to Memphis from Vancouver. Those first three seasons, the Grizzlies played in the Pyramid, but the landmark venue needed costly upgrades to meet NBA standards. Construction of a $250 million arena was found to be more feasible.
The dome-shaped venue on Memphis' historic Beale Street pays homage to the city's rich music history, boasting murals, photographs and themed restaurants and clubs throughout. FedExForum has undergone several renovations since its initial construction, including a state-of-the-art, high-definition scoreboard and video screen installed in 2017. The arena was also the first in the NBA to have "see-through" shot clocks, so fans’ views of the court were not obstructed.
The Memphis Grizzlies’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at home as the Grizzlies face off against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Grizzlies play their final game of the regular season at home against the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:
Tickets for the 2023–24 regular season can be purchased on Ticketmaster, the Official Ticket Marketplace of the Memphis Grizzlies.

One of the best experience of my visit to Memphis, definitely would go again
We traveled from STL to see the Memphis Grizzles play specifically Ja Morant play and he was on the bench. Disappointed we didnt get to see him play!! However, the team played well. I think there should be an option to get a refund when the star players are not playing because the tickets have premium value when you Star players on the team.
None of the main players, on either team, played in the game. We paid over $100 a piece for tickets. Mind you, we were still pretty far up. Not only that, we looked again at tickets, the day of the game, and there were seats closer than ours for $36. We feel like we got completely robbed. It won't happen again.
I was applauded that my children gave me tickets that cost close to 700.00, and not 1 superstar played. This is the second time in the last six months that I’ve been disappointed dealing with Ticketmaster.
We have taken the 5-hour drive to see the Grizzlies 6 times, and will continue to do so. This last time my husband was in a wheelchair due to an injury,. He needed a change of scenery due to staying at home for half a year, so I suggested a Grizzlies game. The staff was extremely courteous and caring. Our experience was great, as always. Many thanks to the Grizzlies staff, and the people of Memphis!
Awesome, The only complaint is that tickets are kind of pricey, when people pay their hard earned money to see the marquee players I think it’s only fare that they play , if a player is hurt that’s one thing, but when you see them jumping up and down/ dancing on the sidelines,I think that’s a bit much ….don’t understand ,may never be able to get back to Memphis,me and my wife live in Flint Mi… And We Came To See Ja Morant & the Memphis Grizzly Play……….
My first nba game and I expected a little more for the price of the ticket. Will not spend that much on a ticket again but had fun.
Me and his cousins surprised my son with a game, grizzlies and Ja Morant is his favorite team so he was very excited. He thought we where in Memphis for a sports camp. The game just so happened to fall on his birthday, March 26th, so it was more than perfect. We're from Belleville Illinois and he's been smiling every since we've been back.
We enjoyed our experience!! Can’t wait to do it again
It was a great game we had a awesome time. Can't wait to do it again.
NBA games are always fun. Pretty good seats. They were the last row in the lower bowl, center court. The bad thing was the ushers kept sending people through our row. We had to stand up 50 times and it was hard to get into the game. We miss the starting line ups, because of so many people coming through. It was so bad that the ushers started to apologize. But they kept sending them anyways.
My wife and I enjoy taking in an NBA game when we travel, so it seemed like a must-see to watch the red-hot Grizzlies when we passed through Memphis. When we left, my wife said, "Next time I suggest an NBA game, just say no." The area hotels were way overpriced, the trolly that supposedly ran ever 10 minutes and would drop us off a block from the arena arrived 30 minutes late and let us out four blocks away (leaving the downtown hotel an hour early didn't get us there by tip off). The upperdeck seats were way overpriced. And while most of the fans around us were polite and enjoying the game, there was a group of obnoxious teenagers who were impossible to ignore. The Grizzlies? Wow. They are a really good team, but we won't be seeing them in person again, at least not in Memphis.
Everything was immaculate. From the parking to the arena. The food the crowd the atmosphere, the energy the jerseys.
Took our 2 Grandsons 13 and 15. 12 year Old loves Kirie and Durand 15 year old loves Ja and the Grizzlies. Disappointment that Ja didn’t play. That being said the game was so exciting, and we had a fabulous outing!! Tickets were Great! Came as promised And The Fed Ex Forum is so efficient in Making it a Great Memory! Thanks The Browns
It was a great game and a great time!! Wish I lived closer to Memphis so I could attend more games!!
Unfortunately I didn’t get to use my tickets!!! I was traveling to the game and the weather took a turn!!! It snowed out of nowhere!!!!! So we missed the game☹️ But the process of buying the tickets online was very easy!
Love how the tickets are easily accessible in the apple wallet!
I purchased tickets to a Memphis Grizzlies game on the spur of the moment and got awesome seats.
The process was very easy to use. I got a ticket in a matter of minutes.
