MELVIN SEALS & JGB IN CONCERT:
Electric organ master Melvin Seals rose to prominence in the '80s as a member of the Jerry Garcia Band, and today he keeps Garcia's hallowed legacy alive and kicking with his offshoot band the JGB. Taking the stage amid trippy '70s-inspired visuals, the group improvises their way through groove-heavy sets of jazz and blues-infused rock jams, wowing audiences with their intuitive playing and world-class chops. Seals' virtuosic keyboard riffing remains as sharp as ever -- whether he's lending his nimble fingers to Grateful Dead classics like "Sugaree" or performing covers of Motown favorites like "How Sweet it Is (To Be Loved by You)". Ticket buyers to looking for a good time can expect a wildly diverse, high-energy concert experience every time.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
San Francisco-born Melvin Seals took up the piano at age eight and by his teens he was playing with his church's gospel choir. He went on to record and perform with luminaries like Charlie Daniels and Chuck Berry before joining the Jerry Garcia Band in 1980. Seals recorded and performed with the band throughout the '80s and '90s, appearing on revered albums like 1982's Run for the Roses and 1991's Jerry Garcia Band LP. Following Garcia's death in 1995 Seals launched JGB, a continuation of the project dedicated to honoring the late great guitarist's beloved musical legacy. Since then the group has released several studio albums, dropped a series of live albums titled Pure Jerry, and headlined the Grateful Garcia Gathering in Mauston, WI. Seals & JGB continue to impress Deadheads and jam band lovers around the country with marathon sets of solo-filled tunes every time they hit the road on tour.

Love the band. The women band members did not appear. Our wives were disappointed because of that. Otherwise would give 5 stars.
Best show I have seen all year!! Great to get back to the Cap!!
Melvin & the band were on fire, it was an amazing show! Great venue to see them up close & their performance exceeded our, already high, expectations! Definitely recommend!!!
A show at the Capitol is always an experience. The staff and fans create the right vibe to enjoy the beautifully restored theatre and acoustics. Easy to see why the Cap was one of Jerry’s fav venues. Melvin Seals and John K nailed it. Tight.
That was the best Melvin and JGB show I have ever seen. Thanks to the band and the Cap for making it an amazing night!
An amazing experience! Nothing but great energy from the band, the crowd, and the venue itself. Can’t wait to see them again!
Great venue room to dance Easy to get drinks although a little pricey
The Stone Pony is the most iconic venue in NJ at the shore with good prices for tickets and drinks, friendly staff and the best seats in the house.
Wait for drink, wait for bathroom, squeeze through people who are just trying to watch show. Band great, venue a mess. Either sell fewer tickets at a higher price or remodel the place so the people you sell tickets too can move without people stepping on each other.
Loved everything about this line up! Melvin, John, Jessica Hartwick...all awesome!
The only negative thing was no seating available for most the venue was packed but none the less was a great performance
Just Great to hear Melvin on the B3 Hammond! He's still got that sweet mix of gospel and psychedelic that was so loved back in the Jerry Garcia Band dayz. So nice to hear a familiar "voice" from that time. John Kadlicek has embraced the jams and sounds of Jerry...he is engaged with the crowd and obviously "going for it"!! Terrific show...John and Melvin along with the rest of the band put on a Dynamite show with nice setlist from JGB, Grateful Dead, and some Beatles. (GA @ the Space is bigger than it looks on the "map". Loge seats are comfortable but kinda back from the stage...alk in all not bad. Very casual and ez to get up and move around. Sound was Excellent!
Great show. Great venue. Super song choices Johnny k was excellent
Great show not enough bar tenders. Wait for a drink way tooo long.
The Music was great, although the show was a little short with no encore... I am always happy to see young people still getting turned on to the whole scene. After all this time it is still bringing in new fans. It makes me smile
First time seeing Melvin since 1987 and he still sounds great. Zach Nugent does a great job playing Jerry's part. Go see them any time you can! You won't be disappointed.....
Music was excellent but the show started at 8, and by 9:45 they were done. We all felt a bit cheated for the money. :/ typically shows at that venue play at least until 10:30. More often 11 or 11:30. 9:45 was a shock.
They were amazing as usual... Jerry was smiling down!
Great band. Super song choices. The crowd was totally into it. Shout out to Dave diamond band as sort of warmup act :)
