Melissa Manchester’s career is remarkable not only for its longevity and accomplishments, but for its versatility. Following her stint as a founding member of Bette Midler’s Harlettes, Manchester’s tremendously successful solo career brought her critical and commercial acclaim. The “Midnight Blue” singer received her first Grammy nomination for Best Pop Female Vocal Performance in 1979 for the Peter Allen/Carole Bayer Sager-penned “Don’t Cry Out Loud,” winning the Grammy in that category four years later for “You Should Hear How She Talks About You.” Manchester has also had her songs recorded by Barbra Streisand, Roberta Flack, Dusty Springfield, Alison Krauss, Kenny Loggins and many others. Two songs she performed, “Through The Eyes Of Love” and “The Promise,” were nominated for Oscars in the same year. She has written tunes for several other films including The Great Mouse Detective, Lady and the Tramp II, Dirty Girl, and Tyler Perry’s For Colored Girls.

First and most importantly, i really enjoyed the great show that Melissa and her intimate band did on Saturday night...could not have been happier...just one slight disappointment, she did not do "You Should Hear How She Talks About You", one of her most famous and award winning songs...highly disappointed that we did not hear that song, otherwise top notch!
Did not go to a concert and expect the artist to sing over recorded music! Manchester is promoting new CD, a compilation of male singers from the 40’s through the 90’s. Had hoped to hear songs that put Manchester on the map.
We thoroughly enjoyed Melissa. She is so talented and listening to the songs that she wrote and other stars and the stories behind them is just terrific.
I've been a fan of Melissa Manchester for over 30 years and I finally got the opportunity to see her live. What a treat! Ms. Manchester's voice was in top form. "Looking Through The Eyes of Love" sounded as good today as it did 30 years ago when I heard it as a teenager. To top it all off, not only did we get to see and hear a fantastic show, we got to meet Ms. Manchester!!! She is such a lovely lady. She was so kind and warm and truly appreciative of her fans. I am an even bigger fan of her's now. She is truly a class act!!!
The tech crew is clearly not as professional as the acts on stage, but it's a great venue for an intimate evening with fantastic performers. White wine could be colder, food could be better, but they get it to you in a timely fashion and it's good, average food. If you're looking for gourmet, this ain't it. But in a pinch and to see a great show up close, you can't beat it.
as always, she was incredible. it has been way to long since she appeared in l.a. area. my only regret was that she didnt perform more of her earlier hits
The one thing I've learned when seeing an act that was big decades ago is that the last 6 words you want to hear are, "Here's something from my new album". In the case of MM, she did mostly songs from her new album, which is one of covers of standards from the mid 20th century. As for her own catalogue, she did a handful of numbers but due to the fact that she only had bare accompanyment, only ballads. So, a big hit like You Shoud Hear How She Talks About You was not on the setlist. She sounded fine but had I known what she planned to play, for the price the tickets were, I would have passed.
I traveled an hour each way in a snow storm to see Melissa Manchester, and she was great. I have followed her for nearly 50 years ever since her first album. I still play her music all the time. Melissa still sings as great as she did then; she has a great voice and personality. Melissa greeted her audience after the show, signed programs, took photos with her fans, and talked with everyone. I loved the show and love Melissa.
Unbelievable performance! Melissa is incredible, so talented!!
We saw Melissa Manchester at the Concord Hotel 35 years ago. She had a fabulous voice. When we heard she was preforming again I immediately bought tickets. OK- She was awful Here voice is horrible I'm sorry to say this we would have walked out, but we didn't want to be rude.
I REALLY LIKED THE VIDEO WITH THE CHILDREN! AND HER NEW ONE
Melissa's talent shines through in her vocals and piano playing. I especially love all the ad-libbing she does, too. She is down-to-earth and very involved with the audience. After the show she stuck around to meet fans and sign autographs. What a magical night and even non-fans can be converted (such as my husband).
Melissa put on a great show, she sang all the way through without taking a break.
WOW! Melissa's performance was beyond Wonderful. It was the best concert I have ever experienced (and I've been to many). I am so Grateful to have been able to Enjoy such a Magnificent performance. Brava Melissa Manchester!
Melissa not only provided fun entertainment but for each of her songs she had a wonderful story to share and she also had videos to go along with some of the songs and the duets were wonderful. It was an intimate setting and having the opportunity after the show to speak with her and get a picture and an autograph was very generous of Melissa. Awesome show I had a smile on my face from start to finish and she brought the house down!! Thank you
She sings her heart out and share career stories that show her love of the business and her fans! So gracious to meet n greet afterward too. Great show--and love her new album: You gotta love the life. John Prouix was a great addition too.
Melissa Manchester's show was very entertaining, great singing, great stories.......When she sang along with Barry Manilow in a video it was really fun. When she sang with herself she was so synchronized with the video it was incredible.
This was a creative and surpring show. Great stories blended with creative video duets. Melissa still has it!
Melissa Manchester gave an incredible show and her voice is even better than back in the 70's and 80's. She has charisma and is a complete entertainer. She seemed to really be enjoying herself and also really appreciated the audience coming to see her. As successful as she has been, I still consider her to be underrated and i think her marketing department could have worked harder and differently to get more of her music heard. She is best in class. My daughters who are in their 20's were very impressed because listening to Melissa was listening to a try tainted vocalist. Great Event !!
