Excellant show at and excellent location. We have a need for more shows similar to this. Like John Conlee, Gene Watson, John Anderson, etc.

Great Show. Only thing that could be improved is Mel's microphone pickup at some times. Amazing show for a 80 year old.

    Mel Tillis

by Anonymous on 11/11/12Deadwood Mountain Grand - Deadwood

Mel had a great concert. His band was excellent, they dressed very appropriately, and were professional in everyway. His son also was a good addition to the program. Mel sings good country music and not the kind that people call country today. His going out into the crowd to give away mementosand signing autographs were great also. I have been to four concerts at the DeadwoodMountain Grand and Mel's concert was by far the best.

we really enjoyed the show, like the Statesiders and Mel, Jr. only problem we feel the sound system is a little too loud. It is hard to hear the singer voice but overhaul we thoroughly enjoyed Mel Tillis concert. we would go again to see him. we love our old time country music.

    Mel Tillis was AMAZING!

by BigBadJohn79 on 6/12/12Wheeling Island Showroom - Wheeling

First I want to say that Mel Tillis is beyond amazing! His unique blend of comedy, story telling and great music is what has earned him such a legendary status as well as a spot in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Mel sings just as great at 79 as he did at 39! I was suprised at his energy level, he ran around on the stage and performed a lot of physical comedy. He also met with fans before and after the show, posed for pictures and signed autographs. He didn't rush anyone and spent a lot of time with the people. He is a very kind man who truly cares about his fans. What TRULY suprised me was that a long while ago I had sent Mel Tillis a CD that I myself had recorded and wrote him a letter about how much I loved traditional Country music. I didn't say a word- he recognized me from the picture on my CD! He said "I know I know y-y-y-you from somewhere"! He then asked "didn't you write to me and send me a CD"? I said yes and he proceeded to tell me how much he enjoyed my CD and made wonderful comments about my singing. At first I thought he was just being polite but then he rattled off every single song I did on the CD!!! What a kind man. I was in awe of him to say the least! If you like traditional country music, go see Mel Tillis- You WILL NOT be dissapointed! All of this being said- The concert itself was BEYOND amazing and Mel is a truly talented man beyond belief, BUT- I must say the the VENUE itself was HORRIBLE. The Wheeling Showroom was cramped. It was over 1000 metal chairs cramped into a room that should only hold 500. It was hot and uncomfortable. Also, the floor had no incline so all the seats were on a flat surface at the same level. If a tall person sat in front of you you were screwed. I myself am tall (6'4") and I felt bad so I sat crouched down in a horribly uncomfortable position so the people behind me could see. I gave the concert 5 stars because it truly was one of the best performances I have ever seen, but if I were asked to rate the venue itself there wouldn't be a rating low enough. It was HORRIBLE. Also they were strict about the time limit and even Mel Tillis made a comment about that. His great show made up for the showrooms horrible conditions! It was so good that it made you forget how uncomfortable you were!

Mel Tillis & Roy Clark - simply great!

by bluegras on 12/5/11IP Casino Resort and Spa - Biloxi

Both men showed why they are among some of the greatest country music entertainers of all time. They still have "it" - their voices and bands were fantastic. The humor was clean and funny. Both of them connected with the audience - both recognized their band members. Mel introduced his band and told how many years they had each been with him. They played all of their hits and did them very well. The show was very well put together and flowed smoothly. The interval between entertainers was only a few minutes as the crew removed and set up for the next act. I am so glad that entertainers like Mr. Tillis and Mr. Clark are still touring and singing and pickin'. Mel walked down the stage and shook hands as folks were leaving. We thoroughly enjoyed the show and will definitely go see them again.

    Love That MEL

by nursex30yrs on 12/5/11IP Casino Resort and Spa - Biloxi

The show was awesome. First was Roy Clark, who even thought had recently had bilateral hip replacements put on a hand clapping performance. He was funny and you enjoyed every minute of his concert. Then came Mel Tillis who was captivating, funny and still sings just as well at 79 as he did at 35. Not a dull moment during the concert. I drove 6 hours to get to the concert and it would be worth it to drive twice that. I will try to attend his next one if possible. Imperial Palace had a great auditorium for the concert. Could see him real well and he still signs autograghs after the show.

Great Show. Still has those magic mellow tones that made his songs hits. We had a lovely time. Only BAD thing was the seating was uncomfortable and hard to access(a metal curved bar at the end of the row near the steps..made entrance and exit of row only ONE WAY and we were at the end.) We paid for good seats and were uncomfortable. Nothing to do with Mel's performance, however.

Mel Tillis Rocked the Lucky Eagle

by JoAnder on 11/2/10Lucky Eagle Casino - Rochester

Mel Tillis was, is, and always will be a fantastic entertainer! For a man his age (78), his voice is incredible and sounds like it did 40 years ago. My husband and I were absoloutely mesmerized for two hours. The band was outstanding. The event was more than worth the ticket cost. I'd recommend this concert to anyone who loves country music, the way it should be played!

    Mel Tillis concert

by 2horses1JS on 11/1/10Lucky Eagle Casino - Rochester

I can't say enough about the performance. The band ...... GREAT!!! They were all professional looking (sports coats, slacks, ties) and clean. Nothing grubby looking about them. AND Mel, still as good looking as ever. What a performance. Not only were the songs the same as recorded, but the jokes..... clean and funny. The whole auditorium participated when asked (clapping or singing along). He gave out CDs and the cookbook. Then at the end, he signed autographs and took pictures. NO.... they sure don't make entertainers like him anymore. Only one thing wrong...... it wasn't long enough. Needed two more hours at least.

Mel Tillis is one awesome entertainer!

by ML1954 on 11/1/10Lucky Eagle Casino - Rochester

Mel Tillis put on quite a show. Definitely a gentleman and very into the crowd. I am not much into country music. I went for my wife, but I enjoyed the show immensly. Mel's humor, on stage antics and performance made this a show worth remembering. And at his age he still has it with regard to singing. God bless you Mel and thank you for serving our country.
