Mel Tillis's part of the concert was a big disappointment, he did not sing very many of his old hits. I didn't pay to hear his son sing three songs and it was interesting to find out he wrote hits for other singers, but his versions of them were not very good and not what I came to hear. Moe Bandy's part of the concert was great....I would pay to see him again
There is a reason that Mel Tillis has been making music for over 50 years. His voice is truly amazing with very little change from his earlier days! He knows how to entertain with his voice and his back-up band, the Statesiders. The Statesiders are truly gifted musicians and when the steel guitar and the twin fiddles start playing "Orange Blossom Special" --all I can say is "WOW"!! His son also sang and has a very nice voice. We did not want the music to stop!! This is an entertainer who appreciates his fans --after the show he went to the lobby for a meet and greet, a photo op or just to give hugs to his adoring fans! This man is Truly a Class Act.
We enjoyed them both but we felt that Mell was struggling with his performance. Enjoyed Mel's son & wish he would have sang more of his Dads old song. Moe Bandy was very good.
So glad I had the opportunity to see this show! Have always been a Mel fan, but this was my first time to see Moe Bandy and thoroughly enjoyed him as well. The bands were GREAT as usual, and the sound was terrific! Well worth the 8 hours it took us to get there.
Moe Bandy has been one of my favorites for many years. He sang his songs the way he recorded them....just the way I like 'em. Many artists will change them up a bit. I loved him then and still do. Mel was good, just not enough of him alone. Band was good and Sonny Boy too, but I came to see Mel do his classics. He's still funny.
Amazing show with Moe and Mel, great staff, great venue. Both bands were astounding, sound was wonderful. The only complaint I have would be the camera operators as they did not seem to know what instrument (fiddle, steel, guitar, etc. ) to point at when one took a lead. This may have been the operator at the boards fault, but it was embarrassing that the video crew lacked basic knowledge of a two live bands and their roles. Both bands were outstanding but the band that backed Mel Tillis were absolutely at the top of their game. It's too bad only the first few rows knew who were actually playing visually.
Great show as Mel always does! We've seen him several times thru the years and he's good as the first time we saw him!
He worked the audience well, asking for requests, as he usually does a much longer show. Choctaw Casino limits entertainment to about an hour, The reason is obvious. They want the audience to get back to the casino floor as soon as possible. It was nice to see that he came out for autographs and pictures at the age of 81. His 9-piece band, the Statesiders, were excellent.
It was a great show although we were sitting almost on the back row of the event center. For a guy who is almost 82 I think he did an excellent job.
Had a great time! My husband and I was celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary. Money well spent!
Really enjoyed concert -Mel put on a 1st Class show -great music - especially his band ! One of few entertainers that sign autographs after show! Only down fall of concert was short, could have been longer!! short on time I thought Awesome Concert!!
This is a wonderful, nostalgic evening. Mel Tillis (at age 81) is as spry and as energetic as ever. He puts on a really diverse show - lots of his hits, good jokes, lots of audience interaction, and some sets by his son "Sonny Boy" (Mel Jr.). This is a very worthwhile and entertaining evening for all ages. Great band (with him for decades) also a plus.
Great show! Mel was so personable and even took requests from the audience. The theater was small enough that he was able to come down into the seats and interact with the people.
I liked every part of it. Mel's voice, his humor, the band & their handsome dress, his son & his songs. Nothing was lacking, even at 81 years old Mel was at the top of his game. It was a pleasure to be introduced to a musical part of his family I had not heard, "Sonny Boy" is a song writer with a good voice who really sells his own songs.
This guy is still going strong at 81. Excellent show, beautiful songs. Very entertaining. The band was extremely good, great musicians. Mel's son sang--what a voice!!! and a beautiful heart in all the songs he has written and performed. I would go again in a second.

I really enjoyed Mel and Pam and the bands. I think the sound system needs improvement.but other than that outstanding show.
Mel and Pam were great and loved the men in the red suits!
While I was not familiar with Mel Tillis' music, he is the type of country my gentleman friend enjoys. The tickets to the concert were part of my Christmas present to him. The opening act Pam Tillis was enjoyable. She has a lovely voice. While I didn't really know any of the song, it was the kind of country that I enjoy. Mr. Tillis' performance was as expected. I enjoyed the songs and learned some interesting information and there was just enough comedy.
Mel Tillis and his Statesiders represent well the classic country and western music of the early years of the genre. Pam Tillis ties in the current generation of women with her catchy songs about love, lost and found..
