    MCDONALD GOSPELFEST 2015

by hunkress on 5/13/15Prudential Center - Newark

Many exciting acts; new categories - comics and step; enjoyable variety; too much talking between acts which delayed program by over 1/2 hr

Poor Website Details & Excellent Pru. Ctr Staff

by JerseyCity on 5/12/15Prudential Center - Newark

I purchased 4 tickets - with a plan to take my parents for an enjoyable musical experience to celebrate Mother's Day. Unfortunately, the specifics of show length, address of preferred park'g garage and, most importantly, headline artists stage taking time were not advertised. Although I searched for info about show length, before securing the tkts, I was unable to locate it. I presumed it would be about 3/4 hours. This was not an issue we couldn't overcome of course and minor in comparison to issues locating the park'g garage and learning the headline acts take the stage at 6pm. Since the website listed event start time was 3 and recommended arrival time was 2, we aimed to be on-time. - My parents traveled from Bklyn (departure approx 10:30AM) - Met us in Jersey for an absolutely enjoyable brunch. - We ate, departed and arrived in Newark about 1:45. - There was no listing of the exact address or cross streets/intersection of the venue's garage. We drove around, in annoying tight traffic trying to locate it, not having visited the venue before, for 25 minutes. The printed garage reservation had all info except that - We finally got upstairs to our seats to learn the main event, began at 6PM. Now although this was actually printed on my tickets (you know what they say about fine-print), I had no incling it was there and there was no reference to the headliners start time on the advertising/details of the event (KEY NOTE - the stuff you look at when making decisions to buy tickets). I printed the tickets and never scrutinized them - lesson learned for me!! - Both parents being in their early 70s and having started their day early understandably we less than interested in passively passing 3 hours somewhere until the main event began. Even I was disinterested in that so we hung around for about 45 mins discussing options and decided to leave. - Had I known about the 6PM headliner start time, we would have had late lunch (not brunch) then enjoyed all the wonderful performers. We weighed the desire to see the artists but just couldn't face 'passing' 3 hours. The best thing about the attempt to partake of this event was absolutely every venue member I encountered (garage assistants, security, food court attendants and seating assistants) was helpful, friendly, polite, very appropriate and more. I cannot compliment them enough! They were the only upside to a very very disappointing frustrating. I can't say I'll visit the venue again, but if I see something advertised there, I'll scrutinize the tickets for 'caveats'. At this hour, I'm not even certain if the 6pm reference was listed until after I paid and was queued to print the tiks.

This was my first time attending this magnificent event. From the beginning with the amateur youths, to the choirs. You couldn't differentiate the amateurs from the stars. it was worth every dollar spent My family and I really enjoyed ourselves which consisted of myself my mom my daughter and my aunt who is 85 yrs old! We couldn't stop dancing and praising each performance We loved it!

    Terrible Disappointed

by NYHOTT on 5/12/15Prudential Center - Newark

This is definitely the worst concert I have ever attended in my life. The sound acoustics were horrible and so was the Gospelfest Staff who consistently lied to patrons who went to them to complain about how the sound quality sucked if you were any higher than the first tier. I have been attending Gospelfest for the past 15 years and I've never seen such craziness. This has definitely taught me that this festival has ran its course...... NEVER AGAIN. I'm demanding a refund from Amex over this very poor concert.

I understand the show has been running for 32 years but from where I was sitting i couldn't hear a thing!! I was with my family and felt so bad because my great grandma and her sisters didn't enjoy it. The performances rocked as always just wish I could hear. Also seats are uncomfortable

    McDonalllllllld Fest

by Lucydew on 5/12/15Prudential Center - Newark

The entire show was great, But the audio was absolutely lousy. I paid 68.75 for my tickets and I was really angry that I could get the full effect of the performers.

The sound system ruined this show. It was extremely loud and distorted. It was almost impossible to hear what people were singing. I would not recommend this event. I have heard the sound has been terrible in the past. This was a shame because it could have been an enjoyable time. I came at 3 pm and left at 8 pm. I could not take the loud noise anymore. I left with a headache. Also, some of the talent after the 7pm show started weren't so talented. I am not sure who is responsible for the sound but the Prudential Center is a professional space and one would think the quality of sound engineering would be excellent. It was really embarrassing.

Sound Check voices seemed muffled from previous Fe

    by 7487 on 5/12/15Prudential Center - Newark

I have been attending the Gospel Fest for over ten years, the first two years "you were able to bring in a bottle of water or juice" since the times you are being told you're not able to have anything brought in, first of all everyone doesn't drink fountain drinks, prices at $5.00 and $5.50 are just crazy, there were many first timers that had many complaints, saying they could not understand the performers amongst other things. Overall I always have a great time, looking forward to the next TEN YEARS PLUS. Thank you Gospel Fest. Just allow the people to bring in a sandwich or so.

The show was good, as much as I could see. never get tickets in the mezzanine area, it's the worse place to sit. always check on your seats in advance

    McDonalds Gospelfest 2015

    by KishaH574 on 5/12/15Prudential Center - Newark

This show was not as good as years past. However it was decent. There were too many "older acts". Don't get me wrong, that's ok, but what was needed was a few gospel artists that are relevant for today. Where were the Tasha Cobbs, Deitrick Haddon's, Tamela Mann's or those artist which have current music on the radio station. And, while I love Faith Evans, having her do an R&B set in the middle of a gospel show was kind of out of place. This wasn't the forum for her. I am a huge supporter of the Gospelfest, but hopefully next year will be better.

    Good show

by Lenese on 5/12/15Prudential Center - Newark

Although the show was long with the competition of groups it was very enjoyable. There was gaps of time between the host announcing the next performer and them actually getting to the stage it made you lose interest until the performer started. I got these tickets as a mothers day gift for my mom and she enjoyed it we agreed on the time management that needs some work and the sounds of the instrument over powering the singers/choirs but overall a great show.

    Unorganized...Needed to rehhearse

by TiaMiaPia on 5/12/15Prudential Center - Newark

The sound was not very good and the show seemed like it lacked a rehearsal. Host were announcing performers before they were ready to go on stage. Faith Evans had to ask for a mic stand in the middle of her song and they gave her one that didn't work.

    gospel fest

    by Dy36 on 5/12/15Prudential Center - Newark

The only thing I would complain about is the fact the choirs were placed in back of the band & couldn't be seen. The band members were not even playing, they were just standing there.

    gospel fest

by yarddriver on 5/12/15Prudential Center - Newark

I enjoyed the show. I'm very disappointed with my seats. I mentioned I was 6'5 and 335 pounds and needed proper seating or a front row seat like the seats four rows behind so to sit there for hours with my legs cramped was not good at all
