    Too many amateurs.

by Jay on 5/14/19Prudential Center - Newark

Actually show didn't begin until after 9pm. due to all the amateur acts. Its all good to include these entertaining performers, But we pay good money to see the stars. And this year, it just didn't pan out. I'll be there next year, Lord willing. Hopefully for a better experience. ty

    Disappointed

by Nicole on 5/14/19Prudential Center - Newark

This was my first time attending and I was really surprised how long it took to get to the actual headliners. We arrived at 4:30,so that we wouldn't have to interrupt anyone as we were being seated. The show started exactly at 5, but it was like a talent show! There were too many contestants who performed their gospel renditions, which some were good, but it took WAY TOO LONG!!!! I was exhausted at watching this talent show, and was more than ready to go. It was 9:10 pm when my family and I decided to leave and we still did not see any one of the headliners!! I don't know what time they came on, but I was truly disappointed at the fact of sitting for over 4 hours of something I didn't expect to see. I would NEVER attend another Gospel fest if this is what they have lined up. I was pleased to see the Aretha Franklin tribute, but I wish I would have seen what I actually paid for.....truly disappointing.

    I've experienced better

    by e. on 5/14/19Prudential Center - Newark

The line up was great. However, the sound system was horrible. We could not hear the artist at all especially if they had a band playing behind them. I definitely expected better from this show and producer. I paid a lot of money for my tickets (4), I doubt I will be back next year. SMH

    Too much talking

    by A. D. on 5/14/19Prudential Center - Newark

There should have been less talking and more singing! They should have stuck to the schedule and had the main artists up by 7 as advertised!!

    Thankful, with Joy.

by Doll on 5/14/19Prudential Center - Newark

What an amazing experience! To God Be The Glory. Wished we could have been closer as an audience to fellowship and enjoy this awesome event , that only happens once a year! There seemed to be a lot of empty seats & sections. We are all church people who come to experience the excellenc of GOD's PRAISE AND WORSHIP in His people. And I think, being closer to one another, would also help to transform us; as only GOD who is Present in HIS praises can do. My husband and I attended this for the first time. He was so happy. Because he is fighting Ca , I was even more thankful to God for I've noticed a change in him, he has "The Joy of The LORD as his strength," whereas, before, he was very downcast and negative. Thank you a million times, for all your hard work. You are transforming lives. Grace ,Mercy and Peace to you and your families, in The Mighty Name of Jesus. What a pity about the problems with the mics!

    Gospel Fest

by greg91 on 5/15/18Newark Symphony Hall - Newark

Change in venue was a major disappointment. Artists were excellent. Not enough for choir competition. John P Kee was loud and distorted. Sermon and interview was way too long

Worst Performance I ever attended and paid for

by queenscouple on 5/15/18Newark Symphony Hall - Newark

This was the worst event I have ever been to. First of all I wasn't aware that their was a amateur competition. My tickets or the announcement has never said that. There were way too many non talented people performing just group after group with 30 people or more in each group and each person got to sing their own song. This happened over and over. It was just crazy. I took my senior mom and senior aunt we arrived at 4:30pm and at 8:00 they were still talking about nothing and letting people perform. They killed me when the host A Farrow set up a table in the middle of the stage and let someone interview him about his life. Dude nobody came here for that. I really believe he ran out of entertainment because we asked when the stars would be performing and an usher told us that nobody was there yet everyone was late. We left a little after 8:00 and got to see no stars at all perform. What 8 hour plus event would someone take their senior mother to like this. On top of that it was raining outside and freezing cold inside. So basically they tried to kill us. This was a hot ass mess!

    Not what I expected...

by danirey on 5/15/18Newark Symphony Hall - Newark

This was my first time attending and I didn't realize the amateur competition portion would be 3 and a half hours long. That was waaaaay too long and I don't even know if anybody won. Also they need to add TV monitors for the people with seats at the back of the room. Its very hard to see and connect with the acts on stage from the back if you can't see the performance well. I didn't enjoy the show as much as I would have liked. After being there almost 5 hours, I left before the show ended. Oh, one more thing...selling alcohol at a gospel show?? In poor taste, I think...

    Gospel fest

by Chief88 on 5/15/18Newark Symphony Hall - Newark

Although we enjoyed the show, I felt it was inappropriate to have alcohol displayed during a gospel program. Also the balcony seating has very little leg room and very uncomfortable especially for senior citizens.

    Short

by Babebaby on 5/15/18Newark Symphony Hall - Newark

I enjoyed last years event better. This year had too many competitions. With less competition it may give the groups more time to sing. The concert stated it would began @7:00pm but didn’t start at 8:00pm. The messages delivered was awesome!!. I especially enjoyed Pastor Hez.

    McDonalds Gospelfest

    by TLC0715 on 5/14/15Prudential Center - Newark

The show was awesome, the choirs, MC, Faith Evans, and gospel singers. My biggest issue is the sound system! The clarity was horrible! The soloist and speakers were muffled and couldn't understand most of what the MC was saying or anybody else for that matter. They really need to get better microphones, speakers, whatever when they charge so much for the tickets. I was really disappointed because I couldn't understand them when they sung or talked. The other issue, is that they had no room on the stage for the bigger choirs so they were standing in the back of the stage and those choirs were barely heard as well. I don't think I will pay that kind of money to go see that show again. The Prudential Center needs to really do better than that!

    McDonald's Gospelfest

by BWBWB on 5/14/15Prudential Center - Newark

Love going every year. But, there are too many talent groups as well as too many stars performing and not enough time. I go to church every Sunday morning at 7:00am and have to leave the show very early to get back to New York, so I miss a lot. I You should consider having the show on Friday night instead. Or, you should bring a pre-show back to New York at the Westbury Music Fair on the Friday night before going to New Jersey.

    Okay

by Danea on 5/13/15Prudential Center - Newark

This was a Mothers Day gift to y mom, and I have to say that I was very disappointed in the choirs.. There was a whole lot of screaming instead of singing. The microphone were loud so you can barely understand some of the words. I liked the competition a lot more than the actual concert. Also, they ended up cutting the mic off on a certain choir because they were not aware of the time limit on stage. So that was embarrassing. Last year when iit was the Lady of Praise - where they were soloist, IT WAS AMAZING!!! You really felt the spirit., but this show was not that great. Okay, but not great

I'm sorry to say I was disappointed mainly because we could hardly hear clearly what was happening on stage and tickets wasn't cheap.wouldn't recommend anyone.I gave three stars because the attendant on my section did there job superbly.
