    Mayer is the real deal.

by MissRis on 3/5/10Webster Hall - New York

I had only read reviews about Mayer and listened to a few songs, but I bought tickets to the show for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. I've always loved Motown and Mayer did not disappoint. My boyfriend is more rock 'n roll, but even he had a great time and is going to buy the album on vinyl to play. He's got a lot of charm on stage and has ridiculous chops. Very fun. I would totally see him again if and when he comes to NYC.

    Mayer was AMAZING!

by MizStefani on 3/5/10Webster Hall - New York

By the end of the soulful rocking show, he had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand. I left feeling the way I should feel leaving a show...UPLIFTED! NY'rs were even dancing! Great energy, great songs, he is a true STAR!

    Dude puts on a show!

by AdamMK on 3/5/10Webster Hall - New York

Having recently discovered Mayer Hawthorne's debut album, "A Strange Arrangement," I was very excited to see him live in a midsized venue like Webster Hall. I knew the music would be good, but what I was most impressed with was Mayer's showmanship. He's an incredibly charismatic frontman, giving 110% the whole time. Plus the County are an amazing backing band - excellent instrumentalist who also provided tight backing vocals with sometimes three- and four- part harmonies is surprising but just awesome. As Mayer introduced the County, all but one of which were from his hometown of Ann Arbor, it was clear that these guys had been playing together for some time - and the music showed it.

No horns section...really? Don't bootstrap one of your first tours, get yourself some brass. Overall, enjoyable concert but with plenty of room for growth and improvement. Lets see where they take it.

Band had good energy and a great new sound. A unique arrangement of music with a certain hook that could really catch on.

    Mayer Hawthorne- rising star

by lauder on 12/20/09Magic Stick - Detroit

The atmosphere was electric. Hawthorne has a amazing vocal range, as well as a great stage persona. His band is as tight as I've seen. His songs ( all original) cover everything from Motown to rap. Truly a rising star!
