Despite enjoying consistent success while on tour throughout 2013, the last quarter of the year was especially memorable for contemporary Christian artist Matthew West, who was nominated for and won his first American Music Award, an achievement that was voted for by fans. He is currently headlining The Story Tour, and will support TobyMac beginning spring 2014. As a live performer, West treats ticket buyers to an energetically delivered mix of old and new material, supplemented with heartfelt stories that demonstrate how he has a heart for helping others, either by inspiring them through music, or partnering with charities and encouraging fans to follow suit. His most recent album Into the Light peaked at No. 51 on the Billboard 200 and No. 4 on the Christian Albums chart.
West began his musical career with writing songs in his father's church and later felt Jesus was calling him to become a performing artist. When not captivating fans in concert venues around the nation, West occasionally stretches his acting muscles by participating in Christian television and film productions. He has been nominated for eight GMA Dove Awards, winning the Recorded Music Packaging of the Year Award in 2005 for his album Happy. In November 2013, West earned the American Music Award for Best Contemporary Inspirational Artist. West's albums, Happy, History, Something to Say, The Story of Your Life, and Into the Light have all graced the Christian Albums chart. West released his most recent album in September 2012 and used it to visit deep topics, like domestic abuse, offering forgiveness after a devastating loss and drug addiction. All those subjects, and others, were discussed in letters written by fans that kindled the creative process and helped the album become an effort that's instantly relatable and genuine.
This was the best concert, I had such a wonderful time. Matt Maher and Matthew West gave the best performance. I didn't want the concert to end!! All 12 people that were with me feels the same way!!!! Please make sure to bring them back!!!!
Matthew West certainly knows how to engage an audience and cane across very personable. I could see how his message touched the lives of young ones in the crowd. I would see him again. Thank you Matthew West for sharing the truth of the Lord through your music and testimony.
We have trouble with the media/social medial anyone of faith. They have the ability to shut up the Christian voice. It is good after seeing/hearing all of that. That we still have the ability to come together in concerts/churches. Other countries don't have this privilege. Keep this freedom for us, thank God for the USA.
Matthew West puts on an incredible show! He is unique, entertaining, and one of a kind. I enjoyed listening to his stories and worshipping with all those around me to his wonderful songs. I hope to see him in concert again sometime. Stay awkward Matthew West. God bless!
Matthew West put on an amazing concert. He kept his fans entertained and involved the entire show! He told stories and had the crowd laughing the entire night. Will go again and again given the opportunity!
Had a great time at the Matthew West concert! Matt Maher was awesome opening up and Matthew West was such a great entertainer! I loved the personal touches of the concert (his stories)! His goofy personality made you feel like you were a friend of his and I loved hearing how the songs were created! I want to see him preform again!
We had great seats! The concert started out on time and with a bang with Matt Maher taking the stage first. Incredible show! So glad he was included. 15 minute intermission to change sets. Matthew West came out and put on a petfect show. Lots of fun, songs and worship! Perfect!!! đđ
This was my first Roadshow concert and first time seeing Matthew West. It was amazing from beginning to end. Canât wait to attend another of his concerts!!
The Holy Roar Tour was one of the most inspirational concerts I have attended. It was full of worship and felt like being in church. The pastor was absolutely amazing đ. All 3 acts were great. Thank you Matthew.
Once again The Roadshow changed the seating compared to the original seating chart. This time they added a stage extension in the middle of the floor that wasn't on the seating chart when purchasing tickets. Michael W. Smith opened the show & I couldn't see him the entire performance because he was behind me. You get floor seats to be close to the stage; not behind it! Also, on the original seating chart I selected seats that were @ the end of an aisle specifically to be able to have easy access getting in & out & w/the stage extension we were actually locked in up against this stage; staring @ performer's backs!
Michael W. Smith led us in an hour of worship to begin with. He played some popular worship songs and a few new ones too. Matt Maher led us with some good music too. Tenth Avenue North was really good and Mike Doeheny (lead singer) went out into the audience and entertained them. The music choices were very moving including some of the things he shared with us. Matthew West always puts on a fantastic show. He went through some of his old songs and a few new ones too. He hammed it up by bringing his band on the catwalk stage and made up some silly song that made everyone laugh. His seriousness about promoting Compassion International was a highlight for me though. I was brought to tears and I am a Compassion sponsor as well. Looking forward to seeing Matthew again soon.
We had such a great time, First time my husband has been to a Worship concert, he was in tears, he was so overwhelmed, cant wait for the next one, the price was the best, i bought 5 extra tickets and blessed 5 other freinds
This was one of the best Christian Concert I've attended. The level of authenticity that the artists shared from and their desire to honor God through praise and worship and fun was really refreshing. I especially appreciated Matthew West speaking about his experience with Compassion International and having his father pray at the end was really touching. I shared the event with two girlfriends and it really was an unbelievable evening and a GREAT way to celebrate my birthday. I would definitely see all the artists again.
Had a awesome time worshipping in Ontario. The crowd was singing along with everyone who performed. The Billy Graham tribute was touching.
Much to our surprise, the venue in Stockton was changed. After standing in a longline last year, in the wind and light rain, we were happy to choose to go to Stockton this year, and actually be able to choose our seats at the Sports Arena, only to find out the venue was suddenly changed and without an explanation. This wouldn't have been a disappointment if we had been able to select our seats at the Bob Hope Theater, as we did at the sports arena. We were randomly assigned seats near the rear, after purchasing tickets early in row 12 of the first section (great seats). It was a good show with great acoustics, but from lousy seats for the same extra price. Not what we signed up for. Might be our last Road Show!
Wonderful event. I highly encourage people to attend. Matthew shared a lot which made it personal as well as 10 Avenue North and Michael W Smith.
Definitely a wonderful show. Every band on the line up was simply great. Loved the worship and joy you could feel in the arena. Would go again.
I have always enjoyed listening to Matthew West via streaming and CDâs, but seeing him live was and seeing the type of Christian he is warmed my heart and soul. I really enjoyed Matthew bringing his father on stage, who is a pastor if you didnât know, and praying with the audience was wonderful. I will be looking forward to seeing Matthew again next time he is in town. Thank you Matthew West.
This concert was beyond incredible! Overall performances and worship were incredible. My husband and I both felt it was one of the best ever! Thank you Michael W Smith, Matthew West, Matt Maher, Tenth Ave North & Leanna! Since a great expertly.
Overall the concert was very enjoyable even for an elderly codger, took me back to the 70's minus the drugs and alcohol. I'll go again.
