Despite enjoying consistent success while on tour throughout 2013, the last quarter of the year was especially memorable for contemporary Christian artist Matthew West, who was nominated for and won his first American Music Award, an achievement that was voted for by fans. He is currently headlining The Story Tour, and will support TobyMac beginning spring 2014. As a live performer, West treats ticket buyers to an energetically delivered mix of old and new material, supplemented with heartfelt stories that demonstrate how he has a heart for helping others, either by inspiring them through music, or partnering with charities and encouraging fans to follow suit. His most recent album Into the Light peaked at No. 51 on the Billboard 200 and No. 4 on the Christian Albums chart.
West began his musical career with writing songs in his father's church and later felt Jesus was calling him to become a performing artist. When not captivating fans in concert venues around the nation, West occasionally stretches his acting muscles by participating in Christian television and film productions. He has been nominated for eight GMA Dove Awards, winning the Recorded Music Packaging of the Year Award in 2005 for his album Happy. In November 2013, West earned the American Music Award for Best Contemporary Inspirational Artist. West's albums, Happy, History, Something to Say, The Story of Your Life, and Into the Light have all graced the Christian Albums chart. West released his most recent album in September 2012 and used it to visit deep topics, like domestic abuse, offering forgiveness after a devastating loss and drug addiction. All those subjects, and others, were discussed in letters written by fans that kindled the creative process and helped the album become an effort that's instantly relatable and genuine.
The singers were so humble and their music was very powerful!!
Concert was great!! First with Colton Dixon, then Matthew West. Great seats for a great price. Tickets were mailed to me in plenty of time.
We had a fantastic time. Enjoyed the music and praise very much.
I took my daughters to this concert, and it was absolutely wonderful! Such a blessed worship experience with "Mr. Talkbox", Colton Dixon, and Matthew West. It was even worth the soaking we got from the unexpected thunderstorm after the concert.
Matthew was amazing, but I was there for Colton Dixon and he didn't disappoint
OK, I'm a frequent attendee of Live Christian music concerts in and around South Texas. Byron "Mr. Talkbox" Chambers opened the show and was terrific ... very energetic, had fun with the crowd ... only 4-5 songs solo with a drummer and soundtrack ... GREAT opening act! Colton Dixon came out next and rocked the house pretty well ... his vocals were a little strained as though he was not well rested or possibly suffering from a cold or allergies. Still, as he put it, they were "headbanging for Jesus"! :) We especially liked his acoustic (piano only) rendition of "Through All of It" from Anchor. Nice work! Matthew West was the headliner and definitely showed his professionalism, clean sound, and command of the stage. Very at ease with the audience and even had some personal interaction with a couple folks from the crowd, including a little girl who held up a sign "#1 Fan". Cute. On the other hand, he probably spent a third of his time (or more) talking about his own life, his family, his background, and a very OVERlong testimony about "Compassion International", a Christian missions ministry to children in poverty-stricken countries. Nothing wrong with anything he said, but we paid $50 each to hear a concert and got WAY too much "advertising". Next time, Mr. West, let's cut down the talk a bit and play a few more tunes. Great to get a couple yet-unreleased songs from his upcoming new CD ... really good sound and message. Very professional mixture of music, video, lights, and some clever special effects. Really liked the overall concert, but too much talk, y'all.
The band was so loud that you could not hear the song being sung execpt for the solos which was a little better. to much band for Laurie Auditorium. Also I didn't think asking people to sponser a child in another country after paying money to see anot so good concert
This concert was the best Cristian concert I ever been to. You learn a lot from a man that brings so much to the table. He made me want to be a better man all around. Great great music.
Awesome concert. God's presence could be felt in Laurie Auditorium. Money well spent.

Great Christian music and amazing ministering embedded throughout concert!!
Matthew West put on an awesome performance! But the location of the event was just sad, he is a great artist and should've been given a better auditorium.
