Consistent, candid, honest and forthright about everything from life to music, Matthew Good is one of few Canadian musicians that requires no introduction.
In 2007, that candidness revealed itself as Hospital Music, an album dedicated to the ordeal Matthew Good was thrust into when dealing with bipolarity. Using the creativity of music to work through the revelation and realism of that diagnosis, Good and his followers formed an unbreakable bond based on what proved to be one of his most impeccable albums.
In 2009, Matthew Good finds him in an enviable place: alive, feeling fine and more inspired than ever before with the release of his 11th album entitled, Vancouver on October 6th. Matthew Good's latest release, Vancouver is a dedication to and examination of his experiences living in the world-renowned city for the better part of his life; the land responsible for forming many of his personal reflections and opinions on the world.
On the track "The Vancouver National Anthem," Matthew Good has many observations about the contradictions of what is going on within the city, a track boasting/solidifying the union of Good and artist Pete Yorn. As with the bulk of Good's catalogue, Vancouver was recorded at The Warehouse Studio. Joined by the majority of his live band-journeymen and session players who have truly connected with Good's own vision and direction-Vancouver is easily Good's most coherent, enduring, and indelibly appreciable work to date.
Matthew Good has sold over 800,000 albums world-wide, awarded three Juno Awards and has received 17 Juno nominations. Matthew Good was awarded the Mental Heath Voices 2008 Award on behalf of the Canadian Mental Health Association, an award for proliferating awareness of mental health issues throughout Canada.

It was cool, we had a good evening, 2 show before matthew, one good and the other one so so
His voice is stellar still. He no longer plays guitar due to nerve damage, but no big deal. The vocals needed to be turned up a bit as he was often drowned out by the music. My big beef with the show was that he professes kindness, happiness, and acceptance. He was rude to his band and his fans. In the middle of his speech on kindness and happiness, a fan approached the stage to ask for an autograph on her vinyl, and he belittled her, that was rich.
Matthew Good did not disappoint. With a solid mix of his classics and more recent songs played acoustic in an intimate venue, it was a night I will never forget. I can’t wait until he comes back to play his hometown crowd again.
Never disappointed whenever I see Matthew Good.. Absolutely loved it.
Awesome experience Great performance Perfect place to see a show
Matt Good was sick, but you wouldn't know by how he sounded. His renditions of old and new material was spellbinding, and his banter with the audience was casual and fun. The lighting visuals and audio quality at the venue was perfectly tuned. A great set at a comfortably intimate venue made it a night to remember.
Amazing acoustic experience. Intimate and lots of interaction with the audience. Matt put on a fantastic show.
Small venues are the best. Love location crowd got into show. Mr. good was groovy love this guy. Must be great with the band as well. We’re in for that
Matt Good played an awesome show dispite being unwell. My issue with the show is the same as when he plays at the NAC. The venue is an assigned seating theatre. My issue with this is that you have different types of concert goers forced next to each other. EXAMPLE: I was sitting next three guys who we obvious Matt Good fans who were singing along to the songs. They weren't being rude or over the top loud. But sure enough the guy in for t of them halfway through the show turned around and scolded them for singing and ruining his concert experience and told them to stop.... A concert where you aren't allowed to sing along? No thanks. I love Matt Good but unless he's playing an outdoor venue like Bluesfest or Folkfest. I think this was my last time seeing him.
I was so excited to see his show since the past 2 years. The night of the show Matthew Good had a fever and wasn't at his best to use politically correct words. I paid for a 2 hours prestation for Matthew Good and only lasted 1 hours and he only delivered a very mediocre prestation. Postponing the show would had been the best solution. I felt that I didn't had my money's worth. His voice was disappointing and he was forgetting his own songs word and guitar chords. This was the worst show I've seen in the past 20 years. I am still surprised that he was on the stage with a high fever. I was expecting a world class show but it certainly wasn't the case that night!
Matthew was under the weather but that didn’t stop him from putting on an amazing show. He belted out the songs and ended it singing a cappella. Great night!
It's good to see an artist stand on stage alone and deliver a memorable evening. My son and I are hoping to see " Matt " back in a recording studio! Mr Good is my sons favorite musician. Thanks Matt, awesome evening.
They were spot on and super entertaining. Matt was funny, engaging, and they never missed a note
I've been following Matthew Good since the 90s when they were MGB and his solo work since. I travel to Canada whenever he is touring. This show at the Danforth did not dissapoint. I love how his music sounds even better acoustic. He still spunds great and his messages are more relevant than ever.
Great performance by Matt Good, really enjoyed seeing him for the first time and can’t say anything bad about him or the opener. However my experience was almost ruined by the constant stream of people going in and out of the theatre letting light in and blocking my view. They really need to lock the doors between intermission. The same people were getting up multiple times during songs.
Was AMAZING, intimate and a quality showcase of a great artist's talent!!!
An awesome date night the music was amazing and special guest Poesy didn’t disappoint either An intimate treat for a reasonable price in our own community Definitely a win win situation
Great performance, as good live as he is recorded.
The wife and I drove up from York, PA to Hamilton, ON for the show. Very energetic performance. I wish he could tour the States on a regular basis.
