About Matthew Broussard

Matthew Broussard in Concert

Matthew Broussard will be the first to tell you that he doesn't fit the traditional preconception of a stand-up comic. In fact, he talks about it in his act all the time — he sometimes says that he looks like the guy in a rom-com who gets left at the altar. But in a way, that's his secret weapon. Take him at face value and he may look more like a TV news anchorman than a quirky comic who's about to make you howl with laughter. So, surprise is on his side when he sneaks up on you with an arsenal of off-kilter observations that grab you by the funny bone and don't let go. One of Broussard's favorite comedic targets is himself — his sets are full of hilariously self-deprecating routines — but you'll also find him holding court about everything from college students to the English language, with an expertly crafted crack at every turn.

Matthew Broussard Background

Anybody who comes from Cajun and Jewish heritage, born in New Jersey and raised in Atlanta, is bound to be a little confused about himself. The above all applies to Matthew Broussard, but let's also add in that he had a job in finance before deciding to do a 180 and become a stand-up comic. There's nothing predictable about Broussard's background, but once he found his calling, it all began to come together. Not only has he made himself a familiar face in living rooms across America through his appearances on Conan, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Mindy Project, The League and more, he's also been featured in a Comedy Central special and acted in several films. On top of all that, he's responsible for the online comic strip Monday Punday, but when you see him in front of an audience, it's obvious that stand-up is what he was born for.

I saw Matthew at MGM Springfield on 3/8/25. He was so funny. I have not laughed that hard in a long time. I really enjoyed his content as well. I would definitely go see him again and I have told friends/co-workers to go see him if they get a chance!

  • He played it safe

You can tell he’s a well seasoned comedian, everything flowed and seemed natural but I was not expecting him to go full SJW. He made politically correct jokes which are very safe and in turn not very funny. I get it, those jokes will always get a little laugh but comics have the privilege of taking about things no one else can. I like comedy because they risk to offend and a different take and look at everyday events. He didn’t take a different look at all. No boundaries were pressed.
