About

Grammy-nominated Marvin Sapp credits the entirety of his pop culture success to his faith, a power that served as the sole inspiration behind his 2012 participation in the Kings Men tour — not to mention his best-selling 2007 release, Thirsty. After achieving success with this breakthrough album, Sapp proceeded to further spread his faith by pursuing a speaking tour, as well as a live recording of several fan favorites at churches and cathedrals across the country. Sapp’s performances has fans on their feet, swaying side to side to his slow, yet inspirational  lyrics. In 2009, the gospel singer followed up his huge breakthrough album by recording "Here I Am" live at Wyoming, Michigan's Resurrection Life Church. More recently, he's followed a similar concert album route with the release of "I Win," a touching collection recorded at Evangel Cathedral near Washington, D.C.

Although largely unrecognized until his 2007 spiral to fame, Marvin Sapp's musical career hails back to 1991, when he joined gospel group Commissioned as one of the lead vocalists and participated in three major albums as well as an extensive American tour. In 1996, Sapp broke away from Commissioned in hopes of launching a solo career, thus beginning the eleven-year journey that ultimately led to 2007's Thirsty. Since that first major record success, Sapp's achievements have included BET's Best Gospel Artist in 2008 and 2010, plus multiple Grammy nominations in 2013. His late 2013 plans included taking the same faith-based approach to music responsible for his many awards, album accolades and ticket sales, infusing the traditional gospel approach with his distinctive contemporary style.

  • Stormy Show

    by 410Samiam on 5/14/19UMBC Event Center - BaltimoreRating: 2 out of 5

Seats were great, long walk to floor seats. To far too walk for seniors on Mother’s Day. VIP parking was nothing of the such, it was actually the same as general parking. So misleading,...great show. But venue was really unorganized...wouldn’t recommend

All the groups were great and the sound was on point. I took my wife and we had a ball. Also it was a blessing to see the Clark Sisters together again!!! This Concert made my wife's birthday and Mothers day weekend a ball.

Recommend the singers dress up better. It was awkward to see the stars dressed in jeans and tennis. If we dressed up, I feel that the stars should dress appropriate for the occasion. God Bless...

Easy parking, small arena and good view to stage. Good customer service.

  • The performances were outstanding!

by Char on 5/14/19UMBC Event Center - BaltimoreRating: 4 out of 5

I had a great time and enjoyed the performances. However, the process to check in and complete a security check really needs to be improved. This was a Mother’s Day concert with lots of moms and grandmothers attending. We had to stand outside in the pouring rain in 2 very long lines waiting just to get in the lobby to scan tickets. There were plenty of seniors complaining that they could not stand that long and needed a seat. This process really needs to be improved.

  • Not worth my money

by Disappointed Fan on 1/28/19Miramar Cultural Center - MiramarRating: 1 out of 5

I was so excited to go and see Marvin Sapp. Until I went to the show, it was like he put know thought into the show. He brought a church to start the show, which they seem like they was more prepared then him. He was just sloppy with a hole in his shirt. He also didn’t perform long at all. Wouldn’t go back to see him. Guess he was in a hurry to go to sleep!

  • Needed More!

by PJ on 1/28/19Miramar Cultural Center - MiramarRating: 4 out of 5

Marvin's performance is always awesome and uplifting. As for the timing on the stage, it was a little upsetting due to the price of tickets and distance we traveled to see him perform. No one said good night or thank you for coming out. We sat there thinking it was a intermission, until we seen the band packing equipment up. He didn't even sing any of his updated songs from his latest album. I seen him about 3 times so for me, it was the same show. We still enjoyed every minute of it!😍

I took my mother to see Pastor Sapp and she was up singing, clapping and dancing all night. Marvin Sapp was mind blowing marvelous. He is definitely anointed by God. I have be singing his songs since the show. I saw him on the Tom Joyner Cruise 2018 and I am praying he will return for 2019.

by lljjjj on 6/3/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

There are not enough words to express how much power and anointing was in the building. Both performers are so filled with the holy ghost in permeated throughout the room. Tamela is a powerhouse and both artist are so down to earth and relatable and passionate about the Lord. You will be blessed by seeing this show.

  • too much strobe lighting and bass

by kalolina on 6/1/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

Marvin and Tamela have world class voices and should be heard in a venue were you can hear a pin drop. That is why I was so happy to see they were coming to the Cobb Energy center. outside of symphony Hall it is the most beautiful and well structured concert hall in Atlanta. Tamela and Marvin were GREAT, but unfortunately the concert was marred by very very excessive strobbling lights light a discuss. the bass and electronics were so loud one could barely hear the artist. except for the song CHANGED, they toned the band down a little. a horrible headache within the hour and prayed for it to be over for 3 hours. PLEASE let these artist sing when you bring them to a Real refined concert hall. this was not some crazy open outdoor park.
