  • Not for adult Marvel Fans

by Yrkymom on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 3 out of 5

A let down from what was advertised, expected much more. I was hoping for something adults and kids would both like, but it was pretty much the circus meets Marvel Comics.

  • Overpriced and terrible production

by Jake0711 on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 1 out of 5

Overall, the show was terrible. I took my 7 year old son to the show as a birthday present. It was the first ever show they did, so I didn't have the ability to read reviews such as this one. The production was a total waste of money. First of all, it was very expensive, costing over $200 for the family. The money spent would have better served for a trip to the zoo or even a different production such as Disney On Ice. We didn't buy anything once inside, but the cheapest thing they had was the $20 program. Second, the production its self was very cheesy--so much so that even my 7 year old was pointing out how things such as wires that enable characters to fly were clearly way too obvious. I went into it with an open mind, thinking that Marvel would at least provide a good story line, however, even the story was poor. I realize that those that will go regardless of what this review says, but even if I prevent one person from wasting their money on a ticket, I have done a great service!

  • Marvel Universe Live was a great show for all ages

by cannonballsmomma on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

My 6 year old son and I loved the show. They did an amazing job with the stunts. The actors did a great job with the characters. We really enjoyed it.

  • overpriced and not very amazing

by TampaCritic on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 2 out of 5

Tickets at 120 a piece overpriced. Show was kind of boring. Story line full of holes. Just not really that good.

  • Good first time show

by Swindasz on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 3 out of 5

Overall show was entertaining. It was the first of many shows which had a few hiccups which is to be expected for a live show. Show was broken up into different parts and without giving away anything the Spider-Man part was the slowest section. Every other part had something unique to it. Also I'm being critical here..... I'm 29 and a marvel fan. It seems geared more towards younger audience but it was still entertaining. People have been asking me if I would go back and I've been telling everyone if it was a different story in the marvel universe then yes but it was nothing special to see twice. The reason why my bottom line is a no, is because most of the people I know laugh at the idea of this show and do not have kids. Ideally for a superhero fan.

  • Live Episode of Avengers Assemble!

by Avril606 on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

This was fantastic to experience!! It was like watching a live episode of the cartoon Avengers Assemble. The only issue was sitting in the lower 100s makes it difficult to see some of the props/action at the back of the stage area where there is still action going on.

  • Marvel brought the Universe!

by Frootluips on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

I have to say I was a little skeptical and hoping the show wouldn't be hokey. It was really fantastic! All the live action, stunts, cool characters..........kept the kids on the edge of their seat. I appreciate the fact they kept the noise level down so it didn't hurt the kids ears. All three of the kids (an me) had an absolute blast. A very family friendly event I would recommend to anyone!!! and Thor was my favorite :)

  • These Tricks are only for Kids

by buffyfan713 on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 2 out of 5

Show must have bee designed with only kids in mind. The costumes were laughable in their poor quality (don't even get me started on "evil hulk") and the acting was terrible. Only the Spiderman character didn't come off as completely amateurish. The staging was terrible, with the scenes visibly interrupted for harnesses to be attached or unattached. I'm all for the safety of the "actors" but at least try to disguise it. If you decide to take your kids, get seats in the front, the side seats even from the 5th row, have an obstructed view of several scenes due to the scaffolding for stunts.

Pretty lame. The hulk walked off like he was a big drunk. Iron man looked like he was real constricted. Story line hard to follow especially for a kid. The cost of food, toys and clothes was rediculous. I figure you know you have us over a barrel because we have kids with us. Sad part is I'm sure you don't care. The day was a disappointment for me and my grandson that I took there for his birthday. If your not going to put on a professional production then don't charge professional prices. Signed: disappointed

  • Do no wast your money

by Anonymous on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 1 out of 5

Was not worth the money and is not for small children.

  • Not a show I would pay $150 a ticket!!!

by JJDIAZ on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 2 out of 5

I paid $150 per ticket and I bought 2 and all I got to see was the back of the stage. I was 15 feet from the performers but whats the point if couldn't see the actual show. If you're thinking it's for the hardcore marvel fan it's not it's for little kids and the pyrotechnics were garbage. I've seen better effects and costumes come out of a Power Rangers episode.

  • Fun time full of action

by Markbot on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 4 out of 5

There was never a dull moment during this show. You'd probably need to see it atleast twice to see all the action and stunts going in different parts of the show "stage." Since there are no video monitors of the action sometimes you can't see what's going on on the other side of the arena like when the Statue of Liberty is present. Overall very satisfied was this nerd.

  • Worst Show in History

by Klemzie on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 1 out of 5

Basically Ironman looks like a little fat guy, the overall story while fun, was poorly executed. Even my 6 year old said, "Well, that was boring"... Wish I could get my money back. $100+ front row seats.... AND IT SUCKED!

  • Horrible

by Agendagirl on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 1 out of 5

We do lots of plays, shows and concerts and this by far was the most horrible show that I have ever seen. A complete waste of money for a family of 5 at 60 bucks a ticket. This show is for 7 and under and should have been promoted that way.

  • Awesome

by Zenny01 on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 4 out of 5

My children, ages 9 and 4 absolutely loved the show. I was impressed by the high tech incorporation of video and computer animation with the live action. The only reason I didn't give it four stars is that the show as a little too loud for my 4-year-old and me. He covered his ears at one point and another couple with a young boy in front of us put noise reducing headphones on him. If they can lower the volume just one notch, it would be perfect.

  • Not What I Expected

by Magna2007 on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 2 out of 5

I expected more technology, more effects. I didn't think there would be an actual storyline. My 8 year old son loved it, though. So I guess that is what really matters. But grown ups should not go just to go...make sure you have a kid with you!

  • So many characters.

by halef82 on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

This is a wonderful show. It has most of the characters from the movies and several from the comic books. Tons of action, lots of stunts, great visual effects. Has a 20 minute intermission. I went with adults only, but there were just as many family's. Only advisory: Gets pretty loud.

  • Marvel Universe Live was GREAT!

by Tabvarn80 on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

We surprised our 3 year old by taking him to see the Super Heroes, he was so excited. Once we arrived and the show started he was in awe. My husband and I enjoyed it also. Overall a great time for the family!

  • Avengers Live Forever!

by Bassman13 on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 4 out of 5

I took my 9-year-old nephew to this show. The coordination of stunts were excellent; just enough pyrotechnics; exciting cable flying; and motorcycle stunts. The only complaint was about the noise level (e.g. music, sound) at specific points of the show. Midway through, he and a couple of kids kept their ears covered. The intermission timing was very appropriate. A brief reminder of the storyline after the break was perfect to re-engage the kids and remind them of what was going on. Fantastic props and a good balance of digital, acrobatic, and special effects!!! The show was just long enough to maintain the attention of youngsters. The introduction of new Marvel characters (to some), along with the reintroduciton of older ones was cool. If the ineractive toy ("ElectroLink") had been better priced ($15 instead of $25), then more kids would have been able to purchase. It was a hard purchase for adults with multiple kids, on top of an average $60 admission price.

  • Marvel Universe Live is great for kids...

by BennyBlanco5555 on 7/15/14Tampa Bay Times Forum - TampaRating: 3 out of 5

The show was neat, the performers were all very impressive with their acrobatics and stunts. I guess I was just expecting more from Marvel. I don't know how I expected them to pull off anything approaching the visual feast the movies provide within the limitations of a live show but darnit, I did. Maybe the $100 I paid per ticket for myself and my saint of a girlfriend made me expect to get a shield to the face or an adamantium claw to the gut...Oh well. If you have kids, take them! They will love you for at least the rest of that day. Marvel/Feld need to adjust those prices though. We were front row and with the visual effects and whatnot from the projector mapping doohickey it quickly became clear that we were missing some stuff and that the best seats were in the 2nd level.
