    short comew up short

by sueman on 7/20/09Newport Yachting Center - Newport

Martin Short is a funny comedic actor, but a stand up comic, well he comes up well short. His bit covers the different charachters he has created on the big screen or from SNL. Boring, non funny, and his attempt at singing was awful. I expected a funny show and all I got, was a long boring event, that did not produce one belly laugh from me or those attending. Not recomended.

    kinda lazy...

by bigfanIII on 7/20/09Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I took my mom to see this one man show - we're both fans of Martin Short. While he is very talented and funny, I found this show to be kind of thrown together and haphazard. He relied on many video clips of his most famous characters - which received the loudest laughs of the evening. While in Jiminy Click character, he "interviewed" one of the Andelmen boys - it was so forced and awkward and went on too long. I still think Martin Short is talented, but it seemed all too apparent that his heart was not into this show.

he's ON the wheel of fortune!!

by ronisall on 7/20/09Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I am a big fan of Martin Short and had been to see his Broadway musical "Fame Becomes Me." The play about putting on a one-man show, became the one man show, with all the best parts carried forward. The energy and connection to the audience was excellent as well. BOFFO!!!

    Martin Short was hilarious

by Seventies on 7/19/09Newport Yachting Center - Newport

Martin Short at the Newport Yachting Center was hilarious. I love this guy. The only negatives had to do with the venue: the chairs were narrow, uncomfortable, and too close to one another, there was a strange spotlight reflection emanating from the piano on the stage, making it uncomfortable to look at the stage for a good twenty minutes, and the show started about forty minutes late. But as I said, Marty Short was great.

Martin Short is one very funny Canadian!

by EGri on 7/19/09Newport Yachting Center - Newport

I laughed the entire show. Martin brought back some of his best characters and filled in the gaps with hysterical songs, dance and comedic wit.

    by joanj145 on 7/19/09Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I loved Martin and knew it would be a good show - but I was blown away at what a fabulous performance he put on. He went non-stop - full of energy, I laughed til I cried!!

    Martin Short just OK

by summertimeblues on 7/19/09Newport Yachting Center - Newport

I looked forward for weeks to see Martin Short at the Newport Yachting Center. Funny, but seemed rushed and predictable. His video montage was pleasant and brought back characters that I had forgotten about, but I could have just rented the movie or dug out old SNL reruns. His singing was good, but loud. I enjoyed the Three Amigos skit and Martin talking to Karen Adams. I didn't expect to be sitting in uncomfortable folding chairs in an erected car port type of tent.

    Martin Short was great!!!!

by CiscoKid on 7/19/09Newport Yachting Center - Newport

I really enjoyed Martin Short at the Newport Yachting Center. His new stand up material was very good. However, his bringing back some of his old characters was really outstanding. The screen that showed some clips from his previous endeavors was often used to introduce the next sequence of his act. This really kept the flow of the night going. His interaction with local newswoman Karen Adams was hysterical. All in all, it was a great time and it proved once again that laughter is the best medicine.

Didnt know Martin Short Could Sing

by lsokkfif on 7/19/09Newport Yachting Center - Newport

I never thought of Martin Short as a singer! But the skits that he did with song were great! It was nice to see our "Old Friends" of characters that only Martin Short can do. He still has it and it was great to see him in person and relive wonderful memories.

Martin Short - Better on the big screen

by Biddie on 7/19/09Newport Yachting Center - Newport

Martin Short Hmmm, Some times funny. There was nothing original in his performance. He relied on video clips to reaquaint his audience with his "schtik" I was disappointed with his lack of new material, What was up with the Karen Adams thing anyway?? It was a beautiful night though...

    Martin Short

by siyer on 7/19/09Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Martin short is comical when he works with other stars. He should not be doing solo performances. His show is a rehash of all his movie/TV characters without the supporting caste. Marty you are good but not without the other members of the entourage!!

Short was great but the sound system was awful. Didn't anyone do a sound check. Couldn't hear %20 of what he was saying.

    A must see!

by BostonLou on 7/18/09Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Martin Short was unbelievable! He's still got it! He's so talented and showed why he has been so popular for so long. We saw quite a variety of the characters he has portayed over the years and his wit was sharp. It was very entertaining and full of energy. His voice is still flawless as he even sang a few comical songs. I'd love to see him again!

    Martin, Martin, Martin......

by Canvasnoot on 7/18/09Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Martin is an unbelievable talent. He has an insurmountable amount of energy. We sat in the mezzanine....3rd row. The skits where Martin was a little wild (maybe improvising), we had trouble hearing all that was said. He had a pinned microphone that may not have been held perfectly in place. We missed a lot of sentences. When we watched video clips of Martin, that were very entertaining, the volume may have been a little loud making the sound bounce around in a hard to hear fashion. Other than that the show was great! Thanx Martin....Fix the sound!!

Really funny show. Short revived many of his classic roles. Loved the walk down memory lane.
