Martin Lawrence on Tour

Martin Lawrence may always have a place in Hollywood movies and on TV screens, but it's clear where he feels most at home: on stage. That's where he truly gets to showcase a comedic sensibility that's raw, unpredictable, and totally unbridled. One of 2018's most hilarious comedy events, the LIT AF Tour is a testament to the prowess and energy that Lawrence has demonstrated as a stand-up ever since he first showed what he could do at The Improv, the legendary New York comedy club that launched Richard Pryor, Jerry Seinfeld, and countless other greats.

Pryor was a big hero for Lawrence as a young performer, who came to comedy and acting after displaying great promise as a boxer. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, on a U.S. army base, he grew up in several cities in the U.S. before moving to New York in the mid-1980s to break into comedy. His raucous sets soon led to a spot on ‘Star Search' and movies including ‘House Party' and ‘Do the Right Thing.' In 1992, Russell Simmons chose him to host ‘Def Comedy Jam,' the groundbreaking HBO series that fostered a new wave of black comedians. That same year, his sitcom ‘Martin' began its five-year run on Fox, becoming one of the network's highest rated shows.

He found just as much success on the big screen with hit comedies like ‘Nothing to Lose,' ‘Blue Streak,' and the ‘Big Momma's House' franchise. He'd also set new standards for mayhem in ‘Bad Boys' and ‘Bad Boys II,' his action-comedy blockbusters with Will Smith and director Michael Bay. Yet even during his rise to full-fledged movie stardom, he never left the stage for long. The concert films ‘You So Crazy' and ‘Martin Lawrence Live: Runteldat' proved he'd lost none of his edge as a stand-up act.

Two years after his successful headlining tour Doin' Time: Uncut Live, he returns to slay audiences all over again with the LIT AF Tour. This time, however, he's brought some friends. With Lawrence serving as host much like he did way back in the day on ‘Def Comedy Jam,' the LIT AF Tour presents an array of veteran and emerging talents. Changing from city to city, the lineup of acts includes Jay Pharaoh, J.B. Smoove, Adele Givens, Rickey Smiley, and Clayton Thomas. Of course, with Martin Lawrence around, you know who'll run the show no matter who's there.

My husband and I had a wonderful time.

    by T. C. on 11/22/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

All the comedians were funny as hell. The environment, food and crowd were nice.

    Not what was advertised

by Tracy on 11/22/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

Was expecting Martin to do a set with the intro and the hype of it being his tour but he was on stage for less than 5 minutes and just introduced other comedians that were not mentioned would be there

Unsafe Seating way too close together

by Rachele on 11/22/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

The comedians were great. The floor seats were too close. It was obvious the theatre made more money on the floor seats vs the more spacious theatre seating. A lot of us were discussing it at the time. I feel cheated out of my VIP experience. It is similar to the astroworld tragedy where so many people paid for an experience that never happened.

    What a show.

Just wished Martin performed a little longer, but overall a great show!

    Enjoyable

by Bobbie on 11/22/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

Coming in was a easy, even with the fact that we had to show our Covid-19’s shot records. Finding our seats was great and the the show was very good. Leaving out was very slow. Overall we had a great time.

    Great night

by Neka on 11/22/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

Everything went smooth, wasn't hard getting in or finding our seats. To top it off the show was AMAZING.

    Lame

    by C on 11/22/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

Highly disappointed. Don’t waste your time or money. Much to our dismay, Martin was only the host but did not actually perform.

Two hours is a very short time for a comedy show

by Icha on 11/22/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

The skits were too short and many seemed rushed. Expected a more thought out production since well known comedians were a part of the roster.

    Late start

by Kay on 11/22/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

If show says 730pm on the ticket. 730pm should be when the show start. I drove in traffic already to get there over 3 hours. Got there in time to get me a snack and in my seat b4 7... The show didn't start until 830. That was unbelievable. I paid to sit there for an hour. I didn't like that at all.

    Unlawful practices

    by GD88 on 11/22/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

My group of four were denied entry to an event, due to venue requiring a Vax-pass, or negative COVID test. This is in violation of our privacy (HIPAA) and this was not disclosed at time of ticket purchase.

    I expected more

by Mia on 11/22/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

The outside patio where you sit until the event opens did not have enough seats. The music was blasting on auto play and only 1 bartender, when 3-4 were required. They require you to have a security guard escort if ask to use the restroom before the event starts while your on the patio. Out on the patio was a place for nacho’s, but the woman said she was waiting for the cheese. She should have had that before, as you know. Show was suppose to start at 7:30pm, they allowed us to enter the building about 6:45pm. They had a DJ on stage playing music until 8:15pm. Then some unknown comedian comes out making jokes… not the host. Then the place gets filled with smoke (I don’t smoke, so that was annoying) and then the host Martin comes out later. All the comedians were funny, but not so much Michael B. The place was packed full, no empty seats. Rapid COVID test were being done at the entrance for those who needed it. Proof of vaccine or neg test was required to enter. Mask optional. This was the worst part for me…at the end, they closed all exit doors except one. Hundreds of us were shuffling like snails/roaches to exit. 😏 That makes no sense at all. Same with the parking. One way out. It needs to be smoother process for the $215.00 that I paid for me to consider going again. Also, inside the event I ordered nacho’s, cute container with lots of chips and a tablespoon of cheese in a built in container. My suggestion will be that if you charge $15-$20 for a boat load of chips and a tablespoon of cheese and call it nachos… then pour the dag-on cheese on top of the chips like real nachos🤪 There was lots of staff there for the concession stands inside the event (not outside on the patio, remember there was only 1 girl bartender and 30 people in line to order).

    Not happy!!

by Nik on 11/22/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

I was so excited to see Martin until I found out he was the host. I wouldn’t have attended the show if I knew Martin was the host. I feel like this was false advertisement. Also everything was so over priced!!!

    Not what I expected

by Breez on 11/22/21Toyota Arena - Ontario

I assumed Martin would be taking the stage but he only hosted. I wish that would have been highlighted because I would have saved my $$ and my gas driving way to Ontario . Bruce Bruce and Michael blackson held it down but it wasn’t funny enough for what I paid . But ticket master was great per usual! I love buying though ticket master !

    Martin Lawrence is Back

by Ahicks on 11/6/21Barclays Center - Brooklyn

Great show! Especially Donnel Rawlings. First time seeing Michael Blackstone , very entertaining comedian. I’m happy to see how quickly security responded to a situation on the floor. The trouble makers were escorted out ! I was disappointed with the cost of 2 drinks. $47 for Modelo beer and a Margarita….Really

    Barclays do better with seating

by Love on 11/5/21Barclays Center - Brooklyn

We had floor seats and it was really tight compared to the regular seating at the Barclays. We are still in a pandemic yet we were so close to one another. Of course it’s all about the money. The show was great. Had two extra comics perform.

    Very enjoyable

    by Brooklyn Q T on 11/3/21Barclays Center - Brooklyn

When i night my tickets i thought Martin Lawrence was having a coming show with a couple of openers. He was the host and did 2 minutes in between comics. All of the comedians were very funny, but i wanted to see Martin do an hour show not 2 minutes between comedians.
