Oh the Thinks you can think...when you think about Seuss!
In this fantastical, magical musical, some of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters are lovingly brought to life with the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and all of the Whos of Whoville. These classic, colorful tales are brought together by Jojo, a young child and "thinker of strange and wonderful thinks." A special one-hour presentation for kids (and parents!) of all ages. Every performance is followed by a question & answer session with the cast.
I was expecting the characters to be in full makeup. For example the actor that played horton the elephant. Just had a cap with longer ears. Actors did a good job but marketing did not match the age group. Disappointed...use your money to buy Disney on ice with little kids under 7 years old
Took our 4 year old grandson and he was captivated the entire show. He described it as magical! The Marrriot venue is perfect for kids.
This was a great production for kids and adults. The actors were poised and on point in every way. Even the youngest member Jo Jo told a fascinating story with their dialogue, facial expressions and movements. We will be back.
Almost as good as the Circus McGurkus. Took my 4 year old grandson who is currently into Dr Seuss. Length of the show was good for a child; no intermission; good energy from actors; Horton’s message may be lost on younger kids, but appropriate for grade schoolers. Worth the trip to see.
The timing and length was perfect for my 3.5yo twins, but the story line dragged halfway through and my kids grew very antsy. I wish there would have been a different story line they involved more cat in the hat - they would have definitely enjoyed that.
This was a good show for kids, though some of the slower, more dramatic parts will create antsy pants. It should be renamed to Horton Hears a Who because it was the only book highlighted. I expected a mix-up of Seuss stories and even though the opening number suggested that, it was only Horton's story. The performances were excellent, but I kept waiting for the next story. Don't expect anything but one book in this Seuss recap.
Let me re-phrase: Seussical is classic fun for children of all ages, including grandparents! The telent on stage was impressive, the costumes and choreography original, the script imaginative. My husband and I are going back this week with additional grandchildren.
I took my 9 and 4 year olds to the play. The 9 year old seemed to enjoy it, but my 4 year old wasn't impressed. The characters costumes were basically non-existent. The cat in the hat costume consisted of a hat and tail, the elephant's was a pair of gray overalls and a hat... What child would associate that with being an elephant. The tickets were not cheap so I know the production has money, how about a little face makeup for the cat and a long nose for the elephant? And the boys walking around the stage???? I had no idea they were supposed to be monkeys until more than half way thru!! The only costumes that looked like what they should be were the birds. The singing was good except for the kangaroo, couldn't understand one word.
We loved this show! The kids loved the bubbles, the costumes, the sweet songs and the fun dancing. Their favorite moment was Sage singing in her bathtub as Jojo. It is always fabulous to see kids on the stage singing their hearts out, and that always connects with kids too! Overall a really fun way to spend an hour with your children!
Expected better costumes and more props on stage, but over all it worked and looked well.
