Marlon Funaki is a 23-year-old solo artist from Highland, California. Known for his genre-blending sound, Marlon combines alternative rock with psychedelic tones and jazz-influenced guitar, creating songs that feel both expansive and deeply personal. His Japanese and Mexican American heritage gives him a unique perspective and plays a meaningful role in inspiring his music. Entirely self-produced, he writes, records, and mixes his music on his own--bringing a raw and soulful edge to everything he puts out. When performing live backed by his band, Marlon's shows have an uncanny ability to connect--pulling people in with an electric calm and leaving rooms buzzing with energy. He's shared the stage with artists ranging from indie standouts Palace to country heavyweight Billy Currington, proving his ability to transcend genre and setting. In 2025, Marlon was named Luck Reunion's "Artist on the Rise" winner, solidifying his reputation as a compelling young voice in independent music today.

Marlon Funaki was amazing live and just as good as he is online. I'm glad I got to see him up close before he gets extremely famous.
Marlon Funaki set the tone for an incredible night with Palace at the Fox Theater in Oakland 3/28/2025. From the moment he took the stage, he had the crowd hooked with his soulful vocals, hypnotic melodies, and effortless stage presence. His sound blended beautifully with Palace’s vibe, making him the perfect opener. By the time his set ended, the entire theater was buzzing, completely ready for Palace but also wishing we could hear just a little more from him. Which happened when he joined Leo for a duet for "Holy Smoke"- their harmonies were amazing. Marlon Funaki is an artist to watch, and I can’t wait to see where his music takes him next. If you ever get the chance to see him live, don’t miss it!
