Her singing was incredible, of course, but surprisingly, her guitarists and drummer were also extremely gifted musicians. The evening was very entertaining.

  • Mariza is gorgeous!!

Mariza gave a very passionate and impeccable performance. She has such a beautiful strong voice and she herself is in appearance and character a beautiful person. I highly recommend attending a concert when the opportunity comes around. Her musicians are world class as well - portuguese quitar, acoustic, bass, piano, trumpet and a very dexterious talented percussionist!

  • simply awsome!

We are all hoping that his artist will be invited again to perform in Denver in the not too distant future. I informed other friends through your web site and assumed there would be an attachment but was told no attachments were included. We loved her originalilty of style, her tremendous voice, her classy, charming and endearing personality and her high, high quality as an artist. Congratulation to her and to Portugal!

Very good show. Mariza mixes it up really well. In her music you can hear Jazz, Blues, African music, etc. Her voice is incredible! and she even sang in Spanish & English, besides her native Portuguese. Highly recommended!

  • Sensual, warm, truly watchable

Mariza is a little know gem (at least in the States) A truly gifted singer who does not disappoint. No lip synching needed here. She is wonderful. As are her fellow musicians that accompany her.

  • Mariza: fabulous

by salmagundi on 11/15/09University of Denver - Newman Center - Gates Concert Hall - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

The whole program was exceptional. The musicians could not have been more skilled. Mariza is currently the Edith Piaf of Fado. The only small criticism is that the second drum solo sounded out of place. Excellently executed, but too much out of the Fado context for the overall production. The hand drum solo was the best I've ever seen.

  • Mariza and Company

by technoscribe50 on 11/15/09University of Denver - Newman Center - Gates Concert Hall - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Mariza's stage presence is nothing if not hypnotic. One wonders how a voice as powerful, melancholy (as in sweet, her words), full of life's tragedies, wonder, joy and compassion can come from such a tall slender body. It does, however, and we are all bask in her elegant talent. Add to the mix, three wonderfully talented, unassuming front men and a drummer possessed of the spirit of Keith Moon and you have a mix of the ethereal and audacious, both raucous and divine. Kudos to DU for bringing this incredible woman to Denver to allow, at least some of us, the opportunity to kneel at the altar of fado and learn.

She played for 1.5 hours without an intermission. Plus another 1/2 hour of Encore. What a fabulous voice. Recordings do not do her justice. You have to hear her live. I will definitely go see her show she comes back again.

by mcmantis on 11/10/09Lisner Auditorium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

She is one of the greatest singers I have ever heard live. She showed so much love to the audience and it was given back to her. Her back up musicians were amazing.

  • Mariza was close and personal entertainment..

by BillyBlue on 11/10/09Lisner Auditorium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I enjoy the show the very much. I never heard that type of music (FADO) but loved it anyway. My seat was closer than I expected and got to see close up. Sorry we could not take picture to upload or to have as momentos. I hope the Lisner Auditorum will allow picture taking.

  • Mariza gets better and better

by dorme on 11/9/09Berklee Performance Center - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a fan for about five years and I have watched Mariza's talent and confidence expand. She has gone from speaking very little to having an excellent command of the English language and using it to not only communicate with her audience but to sing in English as well. She is a vibrant and talented performer who uses humor and a subtle sophistication to engage with her audience. Her star quality revealed itself in her ability to effectively convey the passion and intensity that is fado with seemingly little effort. It is not necessary to understand the lyrics to know the heart and soul of fado, love, joy, sadness, and fear, when listening to Mariza's incredible voice and amazing style.

  • Great performance!

  • Mariza is Simply Amazing

by Migsaint on 11/9/09Lisner Auditorium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was absolutely amazing! Mariza has a classy and relaxed stage prescence and makes the audience member feel at ease and at home,as if Mariza is an old friend. Mariza has an amazing voice and exercises unbelievable control over her voice, drawing in the audience member and evoking unbelievable emotional reactions from the audience. The concert was too short at two hours long (joking)....and was well worth the cost and the value of the ticket. I would not hesitate in recommending this event to anyone!!!
