About

MARISSA NADLER IN CONCERT:

Folk singer-songwriter Marissa Nadler has steadily built a following with her knack for penning elegiac ballads and conjuring swelling atmospherics. In concert Nadler's impressive guitar fingerpicking and siren-song vocals mesmerize the crowd on standouts like "Drive," "All the Colors of the Dark," and "Baby, I Will Leave You in the Morning." Her talented backing band further entrances ticket buyers, transforming Nadler's gothic folk into lush dream pop with the addition of ambient guitar lines, eerie harmonies, and echo-drenched drums. Marissa Nadler's soaring vocals, heady arrangements, and enchanting sentiments provide a hauntingly beautiful experience that is sure to stay with audiences long after the concert is over.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Though she's best-known for her ethereal folk music, Marissa Nadler actually pursued visual art first, studying illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design on her way to a degree in 2003. While there she began performing at open mic nights and recorded her first (albeit unreleased) album, 2002's Autumn Rose. She made the full-time switch to music in 2004 when she released her first official album Ballads of Living and Dying. After a few strictly acoustic recordings, she incorporated electronic instrumentation on her 2009 release Little Hells, which won acclaim from Mojo, Pitchfork, and Uncut. She spent the next few years touring before signing with Sacred Bones Records and teaming up with veteran producer Randall Dunn (The Cave Singers, Akron/Family, Jesse Sykes) to record her celebrated 2014 album July. Nadler continues to enthrall listeners, both with her chilling live shows and increasingly adventurous recorded output, which includes 2016's Strangers.
