Marianas Trench in Concert
Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.
Marianas Trench Background
Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.
they were a blast! only issue i have was with the people. they were veryyyyyyy rude and super unwelcoming.
i've been a fan of marianas trench since the masterpiece theatre days and have never seen them live and this show was amazing! these guys are SO talented, seem so kind, and really knew how to keep the crowd engaged. one of the most fun concerts i've been to recently!! also loved the venue (aura in portland, maine)!
Always put on an incredible show, and they pulled out all the stops and did some crazy mash up songs to play some of their older songs which was amazing! Can’t recommend enough to see them live if you are a fan!!
This would be my 8th or so time seeing Mariana's Trench. They always bring high energy and a great performance if you're looking for something that is going to sound exactly like their albums. Josh's vocals are sometimes hit or miss, but he was mostly on! Their enjoyment of the music brings the listener inside and demands a foot tap or a full out dance! Great evening and awesome bands!
Marianas trench is the best band ever. The concert was incredible as their previous concerts are. (This was my 3rd one) the venue was nice. I loved the show
I’ve seen Marianas trench live so many times and they are always amazing
This was my first ever Marianas Trench show and it was amazing! There are no words to really describe how incredible it was. The music, the visuals, the lights! 10/10, definitely in my top 5 shows. If you’re a fan (or even just looking for new music) this is your sign to buy that ticket, you will not regret it!
What a great show! The energy was unmatched. All three bands were exceptional.
This was my 7th time seeing Marianas Trench with my daughter. We always do VIP. They are so fun live and such nice guys. They definitely get better each time I see them.
Marianas Trench always puts on amazing shows, and this one certainly did not disappoint! Incredibly well-organized and the staff was excellent and efficient!
I had never seen The Summer Set in concert before, so this show stood out for me. The merch selection was wonderful, and I liked the songs the band played! Sadly, they didn't play my favorite song of theirs. I'm not a huge Marianas Trench fan, but I stuck around afterward, and I think they put on a nice and enjoyable performance!
It was really fun and fairly cheap. I had an amazing time seeing the band I group up listening to. Other than having tall people standing in front of me and sometimes not seeing, it was one of the best nights of my life, to be honest!
Had a great time. Played so many favourites. Was able to sing along. Amazing time with my friends
Marianas Trench was fabulous! They did not disappoint! At one point Josh walked through the crowd and right by me. What an experience. Would definitely go see again.
it was amazing, i loved it so much. still not over it at all. everyone was amazing, staff was polite and helpful. it was just, ethereal.
one of my favorite concerts that i’ve ever been to, i was 11 years old and it was in 2019 in Rochester, NY, and i even met the band members afterwards and i think i might still have a picture of me standing next to Josh Ramsey and he towered over me because he was so tall. he signed the CD that i bought that night and still have it to this day and play it every once in awhile. i’ve still loved this band for over 6 years now.
I love this band! They're awesome people as well as a unique rock experience!
Not many bands can deliver like Marianas Trench often recorded music looses its luster in a live performance. Not with Marianas Trench the live shows and interaction with their fans make the music come alive! You want a concert to remember go see them!
Good music love the venue house of blues is such a vibe
We were the last stop on the tour and the band still gave it their all. The band was interactive with fans and put on a great show. Josh was still hitting those insane and strenuous high notes after 3 full months of touring. This was one of the best concert experiences I've ever had, but I may be biased since they're my favorite band lol
