Marianas Trench in Concert
Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench has been big news in Canada for years, and they caught on with US audiences in a major way following their acclaimed 2015 album Astoria, a slick collection of larger-than-life pop masterpieces that showcased their playful lyrical sensibility and knack for anthemic choruses. In concert, Marianas Trench is a whirlwind of emotion and attitude, rocking the stage with adrenaline-filled performances that put their tight musicianship front and center. Frontman Josh Ramsay is a born performer, and his energy is completely infectious as he sings his heart out on upbeat jams like "This Means War" and "Celebrity Status." The rest of the band keeps pace with lively performances that always leave fans thoroughly rocked and ready for more.
Marianas Trench Background
Marianas Trench was formed in Vancouver in 2001 by Josh Ramsay, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who previously fronted the group Ramsay Fiction. He joined forces with Matt Webb (lead guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums), and Marianas Trench made their debut in 2002 with a self-titled EP. In 2006, the band released their full-length debut album Fix Me on 604 Records, which they supported with extensive touring across Canada. The album went gold in Canada, but its success paled in comparison to the band's 2009 sophomore LP Masterpiece Theatre, a Top 5 hit on the Canadian Albums Chart that established them as pop royalty virtually overnight. Their third album Ever After was equally well-received, cracking the Top 10 and earning a prestigious Juno Award nomination for Album of the Year, and earning the band the title of Juno Award winners for Group of the Year in 2013. Their fourth album Astoria earned them a 2016 Juno nomination for Group of the Year and unleashed the power ballad Who Do You Love. It also opened up Marianas Trench to the European market where the band toured twice in support of Astoria. Currently in the studio, Marianas Trench is hard at work putting the finishing touches on their 5th album set for release in early 2019.

This was my 4th time seeing Marianas Trench in the Buffalo area. They still have great music and great energy on stage. I look forward to seeing them again.
I traveled with a friend from a sleepy little town 4 hours away from the venue. We paid for valet parking and it was so convenient! From the moment we walked in, I couldn't stop smiling. Even the security guards at the gate noticed my excitement. All the employees were friendly and helpful. Told us where our seats were and where to go. The first two bands were great and entertaining. And when Mariana's Trench took the stage and sang all my favorite songs, I knew that it was a dream come true. They were fun. They interacted with the crowd. It was the best night!
They sounded completely amazing and seeing them up close was a dream come true for my teenager self. The support bands were also really really good, hadn't heard of them before but loved their music and energy.
I literally waited years for this concert. Marianas Trench is far and away one of my favorite bands, so I was not going to pass up an opportunity to see them. The concert was lot of fun. They played almost every single song I could have wished for. I am sad that Mike was not able to be on this leg of the tour, but bassist Chris Wong filled in for him admirably. I felt like Josh's voice was not at its best tonight, and without Mike, some of the harmonies that we expect from the band were not quite there. The highlight of the night was when Josh jumped off the stage and came into the audience to sing. All I have to say is that if they wait 10 more years to come back to town, I don’t know how I’m going to make it.
Saw Mariana’s Trench in Dallas at the House of Blues. As always, the band exceeds expectations! They were amazing and Josh’s voice was even better live! He also let Matt sing and we screamed our lungs out for him. That was extra fun. Both the opening bands, senses, and the Summer Set, were so great it was less like openers and more like 3 concerts! The venue was fun and the manager, security, and staff were all kind, professional, and gracious with ultimate customer service. Overall outstanding night with Marianas Trench at the House of Blues Dallas!
MT always sounds perfect when playing live! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 I've seen them a total of 4 times now and plan to see them every tour they go on! They get the crowd so hyped up and make us feel involved in the show, it's a truly wonderful experience!!
Iv been to a dozen concerts but this was one of the best experiences iv ever had, it was a smaller venue so a lot more up close and personal and it was amazing having Josh Ramsay come into the crowd, Iv loved him and his music since I was younger and it was so wonderful to see him live and up close. Super funny and sweet guy!
All 3 bands (Senses, The Summer Set, Marianas Trench) were phenomenal! Great music, great talent, great stage presence. You’ll kick yourself for not seeing any of them live while you can.
I have been wanting to see Marianas Trench for many years now… My daughter introduced me to them, and I fell in love with them. They put on such an amazing show—they interact with the audience in such a wonderful way. Hands down one of the best shows I’ve seen (and I have seen a LOT of concerts in my life). For the life of me I cannot understand why they are not more famous here in the US. Americans don’t know what they’re missing!
