About

Comedian. Actor. Musician. Advocate. Entrepreneur. Five-time Grammy and Emmy nominee.  Margaret Cho's strong voice has been lighting the path for other women, other members of underrepresented groups, other performers, to follow. Her recent television appearances - guest star on Season 2 of The Flight Attendant (HBO Max), guest star on Season 2 of Hacks (HBO Max) and two Netflix is a Joke comedy specials: Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration and Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin: Ladies Night Live - have expanded an already wide-ranging career, and her role as the 'mother hen' in the well-reviewed movie Fire Island solidifies why we all love Margaret in the first place.

As a comedian Margaret has been named one of Rolling Stone magazine's 50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time, one of Vogue magazine's Top 9 Female Comedians of all time, while CNN chose her as one of the 50 People Who Changed American Comedy.  Thankfully, Margaret has more stories to tell, and her production company, Animal Family Productions, has multiple scripted shows in development for 2022 and beyond.

The Irreverent and Irrepressible Margaret Cho

by KL on 11/12/23Town Hall - New York

Love Margaret Cho. Great to see her back on stage. Even greater to see an empowered Asian American actor telling it like it is.

    Time to freshen it up...

by Howard on 11/11/23Town Hall - New York

I want to love MC, but it's time to face facts. She needs new material ... she's been pushing the same shtick for too long.

    You’re not Jon Stewart

by Rubberchap on 11/11/23Town Hall - New York

I’m a huge fan. I’ve bought DVD of many of your performances. I follow you on social media. I was so anticipating seeing you in NYC! The couple next to me stopped laughing halfway thru your show. You took a deep dive into politics and could recover, you tried with a very ancient joke - but then you moved back into “Things M.C. hates”. You failed miserably at what comes so easily for Jon Stewart. Maybe because I went in with high hopes of being reminded at how funny you were, and to find you’ve evolved from that was disappointing.

    Margaret was fantastic

by Jessie Q on 11/11/23Town Hall - New York

The staff were wonderful at this theater but the audience were really rude to staff. I witnessed 3 separate situations. The show itself was amazing

    Margaret Cho In raw form

by Bl on 11/11/23Town Hall - New York

Energetic, hysterical, raunchy! Margaret Cho is back with vengeance. Her set is so funny. We were all laughing nonstop. It’s definitely way raunchier than any of her network comedy specials. Of course her mom’s impersonation is priceless!

I did not stop laughing from the time she started talking until she was done. She was absolutely hilarious. The opening act was also really funny. I highly recommend for a fun night out.

    Not funny

by GEM on 10/30/23Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

Making jokes about having 4 abortions made my stomach turn . It’s not something to laugh about Pro choice is ok but not to stand on stage making it out to be funny . She went too far with with it .. It was unacceptable and I will never see her again . Count Basie you shouldn’t invite her back !!

    my face hurt from laughing

by M. Falco on 10/28/23The Paramount - Huntington

I was laughing so hard all night I was in tears! By the end of the night my face hurt from laughing! As a queer person who feels uncomfortable in most settings in our cishet culture, it was so validating to hear Margaret’s jokes about being a queer woman. It was also hysterical to watch straight couples leave while she joked about insurrectionists and her sexuality. This they/them is looking forward to the next time Margaret does a show in my area!!

    Dirty Comedy

by Rusty James on 10/26/23The Paramount - Huntington

The Paramount is a dump. The seating was tight and uncomfortable. The humor was dirty and insulting. People were walking out. The only reason we didn’t walk out was that we were trapped in the middle of the row. Don’t think we will be going back anytime soon. Tickets were expensive and I paid $5 for a 12oz. bottle of water…… this is insulting!

Margaret Cho is an uninhibited multi talented comedienne who will have you falling out of you seat in laughter. Not recommended for prudish individuals.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Horrible

by Sheri herold on 10/25/23The Paramount - Huntington

I was a big fan of Margaret. Cho that is one of the reasons I bought the tickets but the tickets were for a comedy show. It definitely was not a comedy show. This was her platform for political and disgusting things about an abortion and the Catholic Church. I’m not Catholic but if I was, it would’ve offended me and I do believe in the woman having her own choice in her own body however, I do not need to know exactly about her own abortion experience. A comedy show is supposed to be fun and laughter. Her show was none of that. I will never buy tickets again to see her.

    Horrible

by MF on 10/25/23The Paramount - Huntington

So disappointed. She was awful. So many people got up and left. What made it even worse (if that was possible) was how tight and uncomfortable the chairs were.

    Cho was too much

by Tim on 10/23/23Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

Way over the top with the woke and abortion jokes. Some left in the middle, but I choose to listen to the whole show. Unless your very liberal and woke, try another comedian.

    Phenomenal FUN Inclusive Relevant

by JP on 9/29/23The Pageant - St Louis

I've only seen her, on her comedy specials before. The last one that was released on DVD, was filmed in 2011. I wish I would had WOKE UP years ago, and went to her appearances EVERY TIME she toured. Looking at her past tour dates, she typically performs at least one show in STL, MO. That'x a couple hours from where I live, but it IS DEFINITELY worth the drive, even with these outrageous gas prices. I would go AGAIN tomorrow if she was still there! She definitely didn't disappoint. I would have stayed there multiple hours as long as she was on stage! However, I know from personal experience that standing in one place even with moving around, can be exhausting. I bet she was ready for a sit down after her tireless performance. It would be a great show, just to spend an evening with her. Put a sofa on stage, and let her relax as she entertains us. Talking can be very dehydrating, but she had a bottle of water. I'll admit, our seats in the audience weren't very comfortable, but I wish that she had a seat as well! She has great energy, an OUTstanding sense of humor, anf so many talents! She's an AMERICAN ICON & TREASURE! ⭐🌟⭐🌟⭐🌈💞
