Maren Morris in Concert
Maren Morris makes it clear that she isn't overly concerned with country music convention — she freely flouts the "rules" all the time. Her onstage image screams out "pop star" more than it evokes a traditional country persona, and her hits like "80s Mercedes," "I Could Use a Love Song," and "The Middle" have as much to do with Morris' pop and rock influences as they do with her lifelong obsession with country music. The electricity she projects onstage transcends genre, though, and so does her audience, making Morris a true crossover artist. Just as she started off her career with a couple of indie releases, she spent her first couple of tours as a supporting act, first on Keith Urban's Ripcord World Tour in 2016 and then Sam Hunt's 15 in a 30 Tour the following year. But after her Grammy, CMA, and ACM award wins in 2017 she emerged as a full-blown star in her own right, and that year she celebrated by embarking on her first-ever headlining road trip, The Hero Tour.
Maren Morris Background
Born in Arlington, Texas, Morris started playing music when she was 12 years old, and by the time she was 15 the precocious country singer/songwriter had her own indie album out. After a couple more records released on her own, Morris was picked up by Columbia Nashville, who released her self-titled debut EP in 2015. The next year, her ‘Hero' album arrived with the force of a hurricane, containing the Platinum-selling "My Church" and the Gold singles "80s Mercedes" and "I Could Use a Love Song," all of which parlayed her pop savvy perfectly into a country context. Not only did the album hit the top spot on the country charts, its surplus of pop hooks made it a No. 5 pop album, too. A 2018 collaboration with producer Zedd and the duo Grey on the single "The Middle" pushed Morris' profile further beyond country, giving her a smash pop single. Along the way, Morris has found success as a songwriter for others, too, contributing compositions to albums by hitmakers like Tim McGraw, Kelly Clarkson, and The Brothers Osborne.
Maren Morris on Tour
Grammy-winning artist Maren Morris embarks on "RSVP: The Tour" in 2020 throughout North America, including festival dates at Governors Ball Music Festival and Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience and headline stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Colorado's storied Red Rocks Amphitheatre and many more. Supporting acts James Arthur, Ryan Hurd and Caitlyn Smith are confirmed for select dates. The tour kicks off in June following Maren's headlining appearance at the Houston Rodeo on March 7, 2020, her biggest show to date.
She has had consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart for Maren's song "The Bones," making it the first solo female back-to-back #1 since 2012 and her fourth #1 single to date. It also marks the first solo female Billboard country #1 since her single "GIRL" topped the chart last summer. In addition, Morris recently appeared on the 50th season of "Sesame Street" in an episode titled "Let's Draw"—watch here.
2019 was a monumental year for the singer songwriter who took home Album of the Year at the 53rd Annual Country Music Association Awards, where she was the most nominated artist. Her record shattering album GIRL continues to receive widespread critical praise—Variety hailed it as "the best as well as most important mainstream country-star album of the year." GIRL was also featured amongst the Best of 2019 by Rolling Stone, Billboard, Esquire, GQ, People, Vice, Paste, Stereogum and Uproxx.
Over the course of her career, Maren Morris has played venues such as the Arizona Federal Theatre in Phoenix, Radio City Music Hall in NYC, and the Budweiser Stage in Toronto.
Great concert, amazing vibes! Thank you Maren and Turning Stone!
I thoroughly enjoyed Maren Morris's performance. Her opening act, Carter Faith would have been good if the sound was better. She was muffled or screaming.
It took three years for this show to happen after COVID shut it down in 2020. It was definitely worth the wait. Maren was amazing. Great sound, engaging with the crowd, great selection of music. The only negative would be that she only played for an hour and 20 minutes. I would have liked to see a show that was closer to two hours for the headliner so I felt like I got my moneys worth. She has a huge catalog of music and definitely could have played longer.
Maren was an artist I needed to see this summer. And SHE was awesome! Made my summer!
At this concert too, the music was too loud to be able to hear the words to the songs. Also, at this concert strobe lights swung out over the audience, blinding us. I have enjoyed concerts at other places. I will never waste money again going to a concert at this place.
This concert was supposed to happen in 2020…I never thought Maren Morris would come back to this venue because she’s just blown up in the meantime. And then, it happened. She is a consummate professional. She engaged with the audience and she and her band brought the energy to this (why was it not sold out?) venue. I sang the whole night! The band was incredible, the acoustics were excellent, and Maren’s voice was soaring! I will never forget this concert!
Maren Morris has a GREAT voice and concert was amazing! Acoustics not the best at Turning Stone but she was awesome
As always Maren rocked it. I love her and her music. It was a very enjoyable evening
Marren is an exceptional pure talent. Her voice is real and is virtually identical to what you will hear on a recorded album; which is not the case with every artist. Really enjoyed her show and was a change of pace from my usual type of venue which is more wild in a sense. This was a very welcomed calmer experience. Thoroughly entertained and left the show very satisfied.
Venue was great! Maren was great! I will be back for more concerts!!
Maren Morris was so good live, and was definitely worth the drive! She did her hits, some lesser known B sides and a cover of Criminal by Fiona Apple that was so amazing. Love her, and I’ll definitely be at her next tour!
Concert started on time. Maren was very engaged with audience l
Marin Morris is a great talent and quite the showman. She brought lots of energy and was in good voice. Once again at Choctaw, the reverb particularly on the vocals had almost everything sounding mumbled. This was very similar to the Chris Young concert. We have been to 16 Choctaw concerts with mostly great experiences. But, if the sound quality doesn't pickup, we won't keep coming back.
The venue was great and Maren Morris was AMAZING!! I could have listened to her all night!!
She didn’t seem excited to be there. But more importantly, her automatic “thank you so much“ needs to be said to the audience, not as she turns around and the lights go out and she walks toward the band to get her next instrument with her back to the audience.
Great show. Maren sounded great. Great backup singers and musicians. The venue is very nice. Overall a great experience.
Though I enjoyed seeing everyone get up and proudly perform and speak out against all the hateful legislation the state has been passing, I did not think the sound was very good at all. For some reason, there were issues with microphones not being on and Sheryl Crow's performance was interrupted by very loud feedback. Also, it went a little too long for a Monday night show. It's unfortunate that the bad sound is what I'll likely remember from the show. I hope they get that figured out and have an amazing concert next year for Love Rising.
Loved being surrounded by so much love. Loved Marin. Appreciated all who performed and the Queens rocked.
beautiful idea for a collaborative event with some great artists fundraising for a great cause! for that reason, I give it to 2 stars. however, Maren Morris didn’t come out until 3 HOURS after the event started. No mention of her until then either. Should not have been advertised as a Maren Morris concert but rather an event in which Maren would very briefly appear.
What an incredible experience, show of support, solidarity, and love! There is no community more accepting than the LGBTQIA+ community and it really showed during this performance.
