About

Marc E. Bassy in Concert

Marc E. Bassy makes it look easy, exuding a style and smoothness that seems to come right out of his core—part of it probably due to his California roots. Born in 1987 in San Francisco, Bassy grew up around music, as his mother rented living quarters from Tracy Chapman ("Give Me One Reason," "Fast Car"); after high school, he went to study music at UC Santa Cruz, dropping out after two years to pursue a career. Bassy then moved to Los Angeles and started 2AM Club, a dance-pop group. After recording demos with Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads, The Modern Lovers), 2AM Club signed to RCA and released ‘What Did You Think Was Going to Happen?,' an impressive debut full of slick, driving beats and soulful club vibes. The album reached No. 4 on Billboard's Top 50 Heatseekers chart and peaked at No. 138 on the U.S. Billboard 200, giving Bassy a springboard from which to move forward. Unfortunately, 2AM Club fizzled out, so Bassy went off on his own, releasing a few mixtapes as a solo artist, including the bedroom R&B-flavored ‘Only the Poets Mixtape, Vol. 1,' which featured the easy-riding "Lock It Up (feat. Kehlani)."

Bassy's major break—if working with Jerry Harrison wasn't already a topper—came with the ‘Groovy People' EP he released in 2016, which featured the blockbuster single "You & Me (feat. G-Eazy)." The chill, reggae-tinted track charted at No. 32 on the U.S. Mainstream Top 40 and went Platinum—a remarkable feat for a mixtape from a solo artist without a full studio album to his name. That would change, though, with 2017's ‘Gossip Columns,' which he recorded for Republic in 2017. It peaked at 166 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, cementing Bassy as one of his generation's most exciting—and most talented—prospects. In addition to his own work, the musician has amassed an impressive number of writing and feature credits linked to musicians such as Gucci Mane, CeeLo Green, Sean Kingston, Wiz Khalifa, and Ty Dolla $ign.

Marc E. Bassy is supporting Kyle on Kyle: The Lightspeed Tour, which runs across the U.S. through mid-November.

    Overall good time

by Wafa on 2/22/22Saint Andrew's Hall - Detroit

The opening acts were great- especially John K. Marc took too long to come out. But when he did, it was a good performance! He played some great hits as well as songs from his new album. A couple of them sounded even better live. Overall had a blast.

You know an artist is the real deal when their live show is better than the albums. 😍

    Worth my money (?)

by Long time fan on 2/12/22The Depot - Salt Lake City

So I’ve been a Marc fan for a long time and I know almost all of his songs but I have to say the concert wasn’t my favorite one I’ve been to. Low crowd interactions, the voice wasn’t too strong live, and it moved way too fast paced. The openers weren’t that great and I don’t think really lined up with his type of music and energy. Also, it’s not Marc’s fault, but the crowd really wasn’t too into it. Lots of moments where it felt like nobody knew the song that was playing. That’s not Marc’s problem but more the people of salt lakes.

    Amazing

by Smrs on 2/11/22Knitting Factory Concert House - Boise - Boise

Great vibes from the crowd, and a great performance! I love shows at the Knit, especially when it’s not insanely crowded. It was my first RnB/hip-hop type of show & I would absolutely see Marc E Bassy again!!

    Eh

by m on 2/5/22Knitting Factory Concert House - Spokane - Spokane

Honestly the Marc E Bassy concert could have been fine but I didn't stick around for it. I went to go see one of the openers and waited for an hour and a half in a crowd where no one else was wearing their masks. The opener that I went to see never came on. There was no announcement made prior to. The people working at the venue were super nice and helpful so that's why I gave one star.

    Late & short

by Mic on 2/5/22Knitting Factory Concert House - Spokane - Spokane

Not only does he always show up at least an hour late but he plays maybe 5 songs and he’s done. The concert was supposed to start at 8pm. Marc didn’t get on stage until 9:30 and we were at our car by 10:30. And that’s including the encore. I understand a new album was just released but the crowd wanted the old songs. This was his second concert I saw in the last few years and unfortunately it was more disappointing than the last.

    Good 1st Concert

by B. R. on 3/7/20The Depot - Salt Lake City

This was my first concert. We got there at 5:30. The ticket just said 7 on it. I assumed the concert started at 7. We weren’t let inside until 7:10-7:15 and we were towards the front of the line. Then the show probably started around 8:30. It was ok, but I would’ve liked to know it was going to be that much later because it was cold outside. Other than that, it was a good time

    Wait time

by JBaby on 3/7/20The Depot - Salt Lake City

Marc was awesome and we had a food time when he came out but it took forever for him to come out. There was such a long wait time for the concert to start as well as the wait time between artists.

    Should of gotten a refund

by Adijorge112 on 10/25/17House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

Bebe cancelled, that was fine cause I paid to see Marc E Bassy. 1 1/2 hr wait to only get 50 min show, they could of added someone else or asked him to do more to make it worth the money. He did a great set but it was too short.
