The most love I’ve ever felt in one room
by Kira Franssen on 5/17/24Madonnas final performance in the US of her Celebration Tour….This was my first Madonna show. For the last few years prior all I’d seen were negative internet trolls with the constant hate…”she’s too old! She’s had too much work! Etc etc” and I decided to pony up the dough and get a ticket to show my respect and appreciation for this artist who’d indirectly been in my life since I was a baby. I traveled to Austin from Louisiana and I sat in my seat…and watched as the fans all trickled in and eventually packed the stadium floor to ceiling. Once Madonna arrived on the stage…from that moment…until the very last….she was absolutely exquisite! A true and meaning driven artist! A goddess! A mother! A friend! Her children danced and performed and even played instruments in her show with her. She wasn’t here to just to make money…this isn’t just business for her…she had something to say! She wanted to share her extraordinary life with the people who show up for her time and again. She loves her fans/friends/family. She appreciates them. She paid homage to the fallen. Her friends who’ve passed on from AIDS, her mother, Prince, Michael Jackson! She thanked the audience with such genuineness that her voice cracked while thanking them. There was so much LOVE in this stadium….the feeling was palpable! It was beautiful! And I was so upset that I hadn’t maxed out my credit card for a floor seat….to really take this masterpiece in to its fullest extent! I took home 2 major lessons from Madonnas art show. 1. It doesn’t matter if the whole world is mean to you, or says bad things, or tortures you on the internet, or throws stones even. What matters is the people who SHOW UP FOR YOU! The people who love you…they may not be able to fill a stadium for us commonfolk…but I bet there are enough to fill a pretty big room! Focus on the LOVE 2. A simple message that Madonna shared during one of the song breaks in the show. “Time is a precious gift! STOP WASTING IT!”. I took that to heart. And I hear her say it in my head when I’m hesitating. Thank you, beautiful Madonna! Forever persevere in LOVE!
