    Peyroux Letdown

by Tandini on 4/14/14The Space At Westbury - Westbury

Madeleine Peyroux was kind of a disappointment. The venue was great, in terms of acoustics and comfort in the Space at Westbury, although the wine they served (only in crummy plastic cups) was tragic. Peyroux seemed drunk or high, insulted the audience a couple of times for not laughing or clapping at her weak jokes. On several songs she sang out of rhythm with the music in such a way that was off-putting. She has amazing pipes and the songs she chose were lovely, but she just wasn't up to the task of some of the tougher ones. All in all, a C or C+ effort. Maybe she'd have put more of herself into things at a more famous venue...who knows?

Mrs. Peyroux was fantastic. She brought with her a large band with a string quartet. Her band seemed like a bunch of highly skilled jazz musicians, who got great joy in improvising when their solos came around. It was fun to watch. She did all her "hits" with some great covers thrown in. A can't miss good time.

    Bad attitude

by Seacliffer on 4/14/14The Space At Westbury - Westbury

The venue was only 1/4 full, if that. Ms Peyroux looked like she'd rather have been somewhere else. Actually rude to the audience when her obtuse jokes fell flat. We were so disappointed because we saw her years ago at Town Hall in NYC and own four of her CD's. We are fans and were looking forward to her show. She is a very different performer today. Too bad.

Great venue, disappointingly small crowd, tight ba

by Stevie292919 on 4/14/14The Space At Westbury - Westbury

This is a fantastic venue to see a performance, although this show was barely 25% full, which as a performer must have been hard, she had a tight excellent band, but at times I felt Ms. Peyroux was bored, it was an ok show, but I was disappointed in Ms. Peyroux, I guess I was expecting much more as I really love her music, and it fell short of my expectations, it was not bad but just average but great venue and would go there again.

    Great Entertainer

by mdhchem on 1/31/14Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Very much enjoyed Madeleine Peyroux (despite my being more of a rocker). Excellent & interesting choice of material, very unique singing style. Fantastic sense of humor. Band was excellent, too.

Had a good time at the Birchmere. We especially enjoyed seeing Jon Herrington the guitarist for Madeline.

    Peyroux loves dirty ol men!

by jazzinva on 10/27/13Birchmere - Alexandria

What a venue to get close and personal with Madeleine and her fabulous band. Even though they have not figured out what to call themselves, they know how to play and sooth the audience with some great tunes.

Very enjoyable. Good set of songs. Wonderful band. Very personable presentation by ms. Peyroux. Only "complaint'" was that the concert was too short (75 minutes is my guess) she should have done about 4-5 more songs. Perhaps a 90 minute to 2 hour set for the 60 dollar ticket price

    RVA66

    by RVA66 on 10/27/13Birchmere - Alexandria

Was so looking forward to this concert because I have enjoyed Madeleine's music for a few years and thought an inperson event would be spectacular...also, my sister had attended her show earlier this year and raved about it. Very disappointed as Madeleine was off key, unprepared and seemed as if she was 'on something'. Definitely not worth the 4 hour trip I took to see her.

    Better Live!!!

by jkjva on 10/27/13Birchmere - Alexandria

What a beautiful voice. I enjoyed her live even more that her recorded. She had an 8 piece band with her and it was lovely. I enjoyed that she was the only attraction and did not have to wait through a warm-up act. I looked to see where she may be playing again soon and unfortunately...no where close soon. Hope to see her again in the future!! Birchmere is wonderful as always.

    Disappointed

by JazzAfficianado on 4/10/13Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Expo Center - Milwaukee

I love MP's style, music, voice and respect for the origins of jazz. I looked forward to this for weeks and took my wife out for a "fine evening of jazz." But MP started late, was dressed far more casually than the rest of her band, criticized repeatedly the fact that she was in a "casino" (why is that a bad thing??), made a lot of flat jokes, clearly wasn't happy to be there, performance was uninspired and tired, then left early with no encore. You lost me, MP.

    Good performance

by Mikeythek on 4/9/13Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Expo Center - Milwaukee

Just some notes: - A very good show, no intermission, wide range of songs - She is well suited for a small venue - Musicians backing her were exceptional - Best song - a french torch song

    A delightful evening!

by metrogrl on 4/6/13Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Expo Center - Milwaukee

It is hard to get yourself out on a busy workday evening, but are we glad we did. Madeleine Peyroux was so enjoyable. She has a terrific voice and her back up instrumentation was fantastically talented. We loved the coziness of the Northern Lights Theater. The only negative is walking out into the casino to the smoke filled lobby. But Madeleine Peyroux was a 5 star show. Would definitely come back to see her again!

    Madeleine Peyroux

Amazing theatre, but the show was rather dull. Madeleine has an outstanding voice, but not much of an entertainer.

    Intimate evening

by VikTom on 3/26/13Birchmere - Alexandria

Madeleine's performance was very nice. It was our first time to see her. She has a fantastic voice. The orchestra and piano player were amazing. We were a little disappointed that she only played about 90 minutes.

    A payoff from Peyroux

Sultry and cool voice doing her inimitable jazz, blues and country style....with a string section!
