  • incredibly unique and riveting entertainment !!!

    by yoshi921 on 10/29/10Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

I've been back in NC for 18 years and have attended a good number of concerts but the diversity of the crowd and the magic of Macy is something I hadn't witnessed here before... everyone was up and dancing for most of the show and I have NEVER seen that kind of enthusiasm or support for an artist or performance locally. Referred it to a friend in ATL who saw her there two days later and my enthusiasm was echoed! Already looking forward to her next tour!

  • Macy Gray Concert at the Buckhead Theatre

by Faruq on 10/29/10Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The Macy Gray was awesome. Her "gut wrenching" soulful singing brought back good old feelings!! Her backup singer was awesome also and the band was off the charts!!! The Buckhead Theatre is a beautiful renovation but they need to install seats in the auditorium.

I have wanted to see her for so long. Got the opportunity in Atlanta. I'm still high and excited of the magic I experienced. It was everything and more. Wow! Thanks Macy and Break a leg over there in the UK

WOW!!!!! What a great show. Macy was wonderful.................

  • Didn't think it was her best show

    by tri4life on 10/28/10Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 2 out of 5

Macy has this most incredible voice, haunting actually. The problem with this concert is that you had no idea. Seriously, she could have been anyone picked up off the street. I don't know if it was her or the sound system...she was muffled and indistinct. Very disappointed. I brought a friend who had not heard her and spent all this advance time talking about how great she was. It was embarrassing. Basically, she seemed fidgety and tired. The band played well and her backup singer did way too much backup, but she was good.

  • Macy surprised me!

    by DTM59 on 10/28/10Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 4 out of 5

My impression of Macy Gray prior to the show was a very talented, low key Blues singer! Much to my surprise, she was that and much much more. She is very eccentric, but the show was an upbeat ....get out of your seat show! Macy's back-up singer was fantastic and very entertaining. Vocals, very talented musicians and crowd interaction made the show one to remember!

Macy isn't doing herself any favors with her tour. I loved her before the show and now understand her lack of popularity. She had her back to the audience half the time. And, worse, her show didn't start until 90 mins past the stated time on the ticket...after a horrible, pitiful opener.

  • Def worth the $

    by Sammy12345 on 10/28/10Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 3 out of 5

Great concert! Macy sounded and looked really good. She really knows how 2 connect w her audience. The band rocked! Her backup singer can blow (does she have an album, she needs to have one!) ehy only a 3 (I wanted to give it a 3.5 actually)....This is a venue w seats only no standup room so that limited my interaction w the performance; I think to be on my feet dancing throughout a concert like this! The subwoffer or base drum was too loud for the first 3-4 songs so it was hard to hear Macy on some parts of those songs.

  • unsure?

I LIKE MACY, BUT AT THIS CONCERT HER BACK UP SINGER WAS BETTER THAN HER. ME AND MY LADY COULDN'T UNDERSTAND ANY OF THE WORDS SHE WAS SINGING. OTHER THAN THAT ALL WAS OK.

THE SHOW WAS AWESOME...SHE WAS AWESOME....LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF CONCERT...!

  • Macy rocked!

by SpencrD on 10/14/10Roxy Theatre - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was amazing... not every day you can come within 5 feet of the performer! Macy had a great energy about her and was he wacky self, but self-aware, winking to us about it. She worked the crowd and did amazing covers of Radiohead, Rod Stewart, Metallica, etc. Her back-up singer was phenomenal with a wonderful energy of her own, and the band was great. The whole event was casual, with Macy sitting in front of the drums when not singing, which really had us feeling like we were just hanging out with the band. GREAT show!!

  • Macy was Fantastic!

by MacyGrayFan on 10/14/10Roxy Theatre - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing Macy Gray perform in such an intimate setting like The Roxy is absolutely the best experience! Macy Gray is a great entertainer and I really enjoyed rocking out to all 18 songs.

This was a wonderful night Nikki Rich was an unexpected delight, she is lovely with a great voice and some catchy tunes. Don't expect Macy to be early to the party but she is worth the wait. Hugely stylish, beautiful to look at, fun to watch, great band, back up singer all about the show. Bobby Brown came on to sing a song and quite frankly could have done without him there she is way too much of a class act to appear with him on the same stage.Would love to see her again.

  • Macy Gray concert

by RitR on 10/4/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Macy sound great, looked fantastic and seemed confident and as at ease as we have ever seen! Loved the Macy, her band, voice of her female back ground singer - bring them all back soon... Thanks.

  • Macy delivers!

    by Christina99 on 10/3/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

This was the second show I've attended. Macy was late to the stage buy delivered in her performance. She played a lot of older songs as well as cover songs. Macys personality is reflected in her band, audience interaction and performance. I traveled from Chicago to Boston to see her show, I may catch it again in Chicago this Thursday.;)

Slow to start, slow to engage audience. Seemed poorly organized.

  • We're So Sexy!

    by love2listen on 10/2/10Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

That's what she told us - I expected to enjoy this show - I loved it! . The venue was small and perfect for Macy. It was intimate and she could really work the crowd. Her 1st stop on her tour and what may have been perceived as a glitch when Macy surprised us all by walking off the stage, gave her impressive backup singer the opportunity to shine! Wow! Macy returned to the stage in a new fabulous gown and ready to fly. It's a show I won't soon forget.

  • The best time in a lonnnngggg time!!!

by heartnsoul on 9/29/10Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I have to start by saying that I am a huge fan of Macy Gray's music. I think I have every cd she has made. However, I had never seen her perform. Well... she is AWESOME!!! She is an fantastic singer/entertainer, her band/back up singer was amazing and it was a wonderful time. Everyone was up dancing and singing, the venue was nice and convenient-I'm so excited that she made it to Alexandria!!!!! I had a great time! Oh.... at the end, she did autographs and pictures-that was awesome!

  • Love It

by Queenbe on 9/29/10Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I loved it. Came home and downloaded so many songs. As a matter of fact I am listening to a "Moment to Myself" as I am typing. She is one of those acts I would go to whenever she is in my area and my schedule permits. She was great, the background singer was great, the band was great. I was entertained to the max. SHE IS A MUST SEE!

  • GREAT SHOW!

by Stangirl on 9/29/10Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing her - she was absolutely wonderful! I would definitely go to see her again if she is in the area. Go Macy!
