Mac Demarco Concert Schedule and Tour

From the lo-fi haze of his early recordings to the languid shimmer of his newer work, Mac Demarco  has firmly established himself as slacker rock's modern posterboy. Cigarette perilously dangling from his lips, Demarco cuts an insouciant figure on stage, treating fans at his live shows to his signature drawl and vintage guitar tones. Whether he's apologizing to his mom for "Freaking Out The Neighborhood" or advising listeners to "Go Easy," Demarco is sure to captivate with his seedy charm and world-weary wit on his upcoming concert tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in British Columbia in 1990, Mac Demarco began playing music at age 14, involving himself in various bands while attending high school. In 2009 he began releasing music as Makeout Videotape, performing in concert venues around Vancouver and building a small but loyal following with his lewd sense of humor and off-color live shows. In 2011 he moved to Montreal to begin working on what would ultimately become his debut release as Mac Demarco, 2012's Rock and Roll Night Club. The self-produced album, recorded at home on a four-track tape recorder, was a hit with fans and critics alike, attracting the attention of Brooklyn-based independent label Captured Tracks. His sophomore album, 2, was released on the label in 2012, landing on numerous year-end lists and further contributing to his growing cult fame.  In 2014, he released his third album Salad Days to universal acclaim, kicking off a 36-date world tour that will treat fans in North America, South America, and Europe to his already-legendary live show events.

I dig Mac's music, but it was just a cruddy performance. He only played about 1 minute of his songs, left early, and had no stage presence. The sound was horribly off too, which might not of been his fault, but didn't help everything else in his performance. For the price, it was not worth it.

  • Irony getting in the way for music

    by Katapult on 11/7/14Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

They played some new-york-ified version of their songs with a lot of jokes, irony and sarkasm. It gave the impression that they did not respect the audience nor their own music much. I know they are supposed to be young punks not respecting anyone and so on.. but this also made the music worse.. Maybe they did not feel comfortable at such a big stage. Maybe they are supposed to be underdogs. King Gizzard and Connan Mockasin who played before did fantastic shows however! King Gizzard them selves was worth the whole ticket price.

  • Super tall fans

    by Amy1116 on 11/7/14Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Mac Demarco was a joy to watch per usual, but DAMN his fans are tall. Constantly had to find a window so I could see a peep of Mac and the band. Given, these fans are very sweet and generous, but giants. Great show overall, great setlist and vibe. Always love it!

  • Mac Rules

    by Jaimthegirl on 11/7/14Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

He's got so much energy. He crowd surfed for an entire song and the band's overall vibe is incredibly jovial. You can't not have a good time watching them. It's like being on the best drugs while still being completely sober.

  • Mac Demarco is a legend

Amazing live performer, each song sounded better than on the album. Dude can jam and has a tight band.

  • Mac Demarco is a freak show in the best way

by magdalenaMS on 7/21/14Tralf - BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

One of the most interactive concerts I've been to. Mac's band wasn't able to make the show, but he still went on - just him and his guitar. He was absolutely hilarious and fun and I'll 100% see him again.

Mostly a younger crowd, glad I stayed away from the floor. Great show. Very talented musicians. Impressed with their live performance.

Without a doubt, the Mac Demarco show is among my top 3 favorite shows EVER. Incredible stage presence and energy -- really knew how to engage the audience. Musically on par with the album. Great sense of humor. Left me wanting more.
