Acoustic Evening with Lle Lovett and John Hiatt

by Anonymous on 6/11/11Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium At Marin Center - San Rafael

Fabulous interactions between the artists, and, of course, the music was outstanding. The setting is a bit overwhelming for just 2 artists. I have attended other presentations here, many with a single speaker who was viewed on a large screen--would have been wonderful to have a big screen to improve viewing of this concert. And, sound was not perfect. I have never had problems understanding the speakers at this auditorium, wonder why voices were garbled at times during the concert. Overall, I appreciate the show enormously.

The singing was amazing, the storytelling that went along with it a treat.

Superb concert - the humor between Lyle and John added charm to an evening of incredible music. Would highly recommend for folks to see these two perform.

Lyle never disappoints and John was great fun!

by Anonymous on 6/10/11Mountain Winery - Saratoga

This is my 4th time to see Lyle and I always enjoy his vocal nuances and his finesse of the guitar strings. Their bantering was amusing and it seems obvious that they are old friends who greatly respect one another. This was my first time to see John. He is amazing in the way he bends the guitar to his will. The wide range of power and clarity of sound he can pull from a couple of pieces of wood and metal strings in awe inspiring. I will definitely see him again.

Fantastic Peformers, can't wait to see them again

by stagebuilder on 6/10/11Mountain Winery - Saratoga

Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt are incredible guitar players and wonderful story tellers. Together, they are hilarious, totally playing off of each other. Lyle is definitely more of a dead pan than John. And seeing them at the Mountain Winery was perfect. Great setting. My only real complaint was we were sitting in the center section, about 15 rows back from the stage. The speaker array hanging over the stage seemed to be a bit hot (loud) for an acoustic show. I think I may have been right in line with one of the speakers. Not much I could have done about that. Other than that, the show was wonderful and I can't wait to see them play together again.

    Lyle Lovett & John Hiatt

by monabone on 6/10/11Mountain Winery - Saratoga

Most amazing evening with two of my favorite men (especially Lyle). Everything was fabulous. The bantering and humor was almost as great as the music. Nothing beats Mt. Winery. And now we finally know what the song Fat Babies is all about!

    show was awesome!

by Melanaries on 6/10/11Mountain Winery - Saratoga

Lyle & John were an incredible combination! The Mountain Winery is a pretty kick ass place to see a show. They both did some oldies and John's new stuff was really, really good. My ONLY complaint was the parking costs +fee's. $20 for parking + $15 in fee's for each ticket adds up to $50 plus the original ticket price! I love this venue but will think twice next time because of these extra costs!

    Very nice concert

by PickyPaula on 6/10/11Mountain Winery - Saratoga

I really enjoyed the banter between Lyle and John, plus their music. I've seen Lyle several times and must admit that I like the energy of his big band better than this acoustic set. That said, this set was very good - excellent sound, excellent venue, strong performances.

    Great Fun

    by AnOldFan51 on 6/10/11Mountain Winery - Saratoga

It was great fun watching these two accomplished musicians entertain the crowd to no end. Their between song banter was almost the highlight. It was by no means a foot-stomping, leap-to-your-feet kind of concert, but it was a great opportunity to get to know the two of them on a far greater level than is typical. They played for a solid 2 hours 30 minutes, but as Lyle pointed out, each only had to work half the time. Highly recommended.

    What a hoot!

Fabulous concert in a very intimate venue. John Hiatt was the perfect straight man for Lyle's dry wit.

    Love Lyle....

by mte1923 on 6/6/11Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

Great acoustic show with Lyle and John Hiatt. The Art Center provided a great venue to showcase each artists' unique voice. The playlist was entertaining and featured both mainstream songs and the hidden jewels that sometimes do not get playtime on larger tours.

Hiatt and Lovett are two of the best!

by uwan2buyachicken on 6/6/11Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

Both the venue and the musicians combined for a wonderful concert. Lovett and Hiatt's interplay with one another between songs (and occasionally in the songs themselves) simply made a great night even better! These two are two of the best songwriters and presenters I have ever seen! Simply loved it!

    Great evening!

by allisgood on 6/6/11Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

It was like sitting in a living room and watching a couple of old friends swap stories and songs- when one was playing the other would occasionally add their guitar or vocals to the effort. Additionally, the sound in the new Performing Arts Center is incredible. I was more familiar with Lyle's work but John was great as well.

    Loved Lovett & Hiatt

by VegasSam on 6/6/11Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

The Valley Performing Arts Center is an excellent venue for small acoustical shows. The sound, lighting, temp and seating were fantastic. Lovett & Hiatt were funny, entertaining and informative with their playful banter between each song. They performed very well by trading off on songs and sometimes joining in when the other was performing. The sound mix was simply perfect. I gave this 4 stars and I'm a very tough one when it comes to handing out grades.

Lovett and Hiatt Rock The House!

by Sybursu on 6/5/11Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

Lovet and Hiatt rocked the Valley Performing Arts Center in Northridge. I have seen many concerts over the years, but I must say that this was one of the best ever. The event was sensitive, thoughtful and absolutely wonderful. Lovett and Hiatt are a powerful combination of soulful, sophisticated muiscians who each sing beautifully and play a mean guitar. We left the 2 hour and 20 minute event feeling happy and inspired. The Valley Performing Arts Center is a beautiful venue. The seats LOGEC (third floor) were excellent and the sound was extremely good. Loved every second and cannot wait to see these artists perform again.
