Lupe Fiasco in Concert

Chicago-born, Grammy Award-winning rapper Lupe Fiasco gained national attention with his 2006 album Food & Liquor, which helped cement a new wave of Chicago rappers in the national conversation. Revisit the album that put Lupe Fiasco on the map, and changed the course of Chicago hip-hop forever.

The independent rapper who parted ways with his former label, Atlantic Records, following the release of 2015's Tetsuo & Youth, is pegged as one of the most gifted lyricists and visionaries to grace the mic. Rising to fame in 2006 following the success of his debut album, Food & Liquor, Lupe has released six acclaimed studio albums; Drogas Light, released in 2017 on his own label, 1st & 15th. These albums have netted 3 platinum singles, 3 RIAA Gold Certifications, 12 Grammy nominations and one Grammy Award in 2008 for his infectious single, "Daydreamin," feat Jill Scott. With a trilogy of albums set for 2018 and beyond, Lupe is at his creative peak as an artist. Most recently, Drogas Wave released on September 21st, 2018 via 1st & 15th. His efforts to propagate conscious material helped solidify him as GQ's Man of the Year in 2006, and garnered recognition as a Henry Crown Fellow.

While musical genius and ingenuity are at the forefront of Lupe's achievements, the artist extends his innovation to projects that aim to foster creative discourse and opportunities in underprivileged and impoverished communities. As the co-founder and co-owner of community initiatives such as, We Are M.U.R.A.L, The Neighborhood Start-Up Fund, Society of Spoken Art, and Studio SV, Lupe Fiasco proves that he is more than just a mouthpiece for change, but a committed facilitator of intellectual community discourse and outreach.

    Bizarre

by Anonymous on 12/18/16Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

If I had to use one word to describe this show was disappointment. Been a fan for almost ten years and thought I was going to see a great show but instead I was treated to a bizarre rant and half a set list.

    Weird

by OscarThePhysicist on 12/18/16Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

When he finally played, his flows were spot on. However, he made the entire audience uncomfortable for 30 to 45 minutes. Lots of people left within the first 5 minutes. He ranted angrily, but didnt quite specify what he was ranting about....Than, he pulleds a few dozen random people on stage, forced them to huddle up, and was silent to the crow for atleast 30 minutes. This occured only after performing 15 minutes. Than he finally came back and rapped for like 20 more minutes. Amazing studio artist, but weird and awkward performance. He went from being my favorite witty lyricist, to lamest, dissapointed and awkward performer

    Not enough music

by Benis on 12/18/16Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

4 songs and rant, 20 mins or so, of dead silence. I like Lupe, but I was on a schedule, had to leave early to catch the bus, saw 6 songs total, could do better. Has done better, saw him on the Lasers tour, it was amazing. Also banned photography during his set.

Lupe is out of this world! Bars for ions!

by CreoleGod100 on 12/1/16The Belasco Theater - Los Angeles

Amazing show he rock it! This was a real hip hop show. No rants or politics. Just about the music. I loved it. Went with my nephew and friends and we had a great time. The show was very diverse. The crowd had all races, colors and age groups. Lupe is a true American hero and on his way to being a legend. He is underrated and a genius in his own lane.

    Boring

by GLoveyou on 10/27/16The Wilbur - Boston

Disappointed, just Lupe spitting some old raps with his D.J. How about adding some musicians and female back up singers to jazz up your tired old show??

    Lupe was 100% forgettable

by Jeanjacketlover on 10/26/16The Wilbur - Boston

Having seen Lupe in Boston in March I couldn't wait for his late October Boston show. Unfortunately, the bass was up WAY to high and it completely ruined several songs including Mural. About half the songs were ruined which bring me to my second point... He only performed for a little more than an hour. Completely different from the last show I went to. Very disappointing. 2 stars. Would NOT recommend to a friend. So bad I'd consider missing his next Boston stop

Lupe did not seem connected - but was still good

    by Nia1T on 10/26/16The Wilbur - Boston

I've seen Lupe in the past, and at this particular venue. The last time, he had an actual set, projections, lighting etc. This time, there was just the DJ (who was good). He came on stage and did 3-4 songs before addressing the crowd. It wasn't until nearly the end of the show before he looked directly at the crowd. He spent much of his time looking at the floor. I had a sense that maybe something happened before the show. He's a human being and things happen and yet, you still have to come out and perform and entertain. It must be hard. His songs were his songs- always on point and his delivery was on point. The highlight for us was seeing The Boy Illinois as his opener - 2nd opener, closest to Lupe's performance. Very happy to see him move up the chain. He was on point.

This was the first rap concert that I have ever attended. I had the best time I've had in a long time! He's an excellent showman! The audience response was fantastic! I've only recently heard his music and wanted to see him in person. I'm almost 70 and really enjoyed his performance, I was pleasantly surprised!

This was one of the best concerts that I have ever been to, The venue was amazing from the concessions, to the helpful event staff. I also enjoyed the fact that I could stand or sit. And Lupe himself blew me away.
