Ludovico Einaudi on Tour

An Italian pianist whose luscious, minimalist tunes have captured the world's attention, Ludovico Einaudi has enjoyed a lauded career full of pensive music and thrilling, worldly adventures. After finishing his music studies in Milan, Einaudi has traveled extensively, premiering works at the Tanglewood Music Festival, Lincoln Center, UCLA and Teatro alla Scala. In the early ‘10s, he toured the U.S. and Canada for In a Time Lapse, appearing on various radio shows. Einaudi has a rich tradition of recording and releasing live concerts, from his La Scala Concert 03.03.03 to 2009's Live in Prague and 2010's Royal Albert Hall Concert. Additionally, he's participated in many iTunes Festival recordings, including multiple shows in London and a 2019 release from Milan's Piazza Liberty. In a live setting, fans of Einaudi's contemporary classical catalog find themselves transfixed when he and his small band of well-rehearsed instrumentalists take the stage. An aura of mystery (think moody lighting and smoky effects) often accompanies the evocative, sprawling compositions, full of gentle arpeggios and circular chord sequences.

Ludovico Einaudi in Concert

Born in 1955 in Turin, Piedmont, Einaudi was raised in a highly artistic household — his father was a publisher of novels, while his mother was a pianist. The young Einaudi learned piano and guitar, beginning to compose at a young age. In his teens, he trained at the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan, eventually studying with the famed Italian postmodernist Luciano Berio. Graduating from school and premiering works everywhere from Italy to Los Angeles, Einaudi embarked on a successful recording career with Decca Records. He released his first solo piano album, Le Onde, in 1996 to much acclaim, eventually being certified gold in Italy. 2004's Una mattina would prove to be his big breakthrough, charting in Italy and Belgium and going gold in Italy again. 2009's Nightbook used synthesizer sounds to create an atmospheric vibe that built on his repetitive structures, poppy strings and percussion, and playful melodies. 2013's In a Time Lapse was among his most successful records, charting in over 10 countries and going platinum in the Netherlands, silver in the UK and gold in Italy. Einaudi is also well-known for his film scores, which have earned him many distinctions, including Best Soundtrack at the Italian Music Awards, and even an Oscar nomination.

    Amazing!!!!

by Samwaterpolo on 7/3/13Warner Theatre - Washington, DC

this was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. He and the orchestra are absolutely amazing performers!!! They are even better in concert. Save up a little and get seats in the front because seeing their finger movements are so inspiring.

    Great show, bad seats

by Mbrading on 6/6/13Town Hall - New York

I LOVED the show. Amazing musicians, could have listened all night. However, I bought a Gold Circle ticket, the highest priced ticket and I only had partial view. Not happy about that. I was really excited about the show and went all out and then felt like I would have been better off with a cheaper ticket.

    OH MY GOODNESS!

by whiteindonesian on 5/26/13Warner Theatre - Washington

Oh lordy, this was the best concert I have every witnessed. (I'll admit I was even more excited to see Ludo perform than I was for Regina Spektor.) But seriously... breath-takingly phenomenal. I am amazed that this wondrous composer is able to be caught in the glory of his own work as well as it captivates his audience. The orchestra with him was just as amazing. I cried, I laughed, I awed, I gained a whole new respect for the tambourine.

Ludovico's music sticks to the soul

by Divenire on 5/23/13Warner Theatre - Washington

I haven't been to a lot of concerts in my life but this one easily takes the cake. His music is so haunting and melodic that you can easily lose yourself just by closing your eyes. I have made a vow that if he is performing somewhere within driving distance, that I will see him again and again.

by FromOhioForLudovico on 5/23/13Warner Theatre - Washington

Ludovico Einaudi and his ensemble did not disappoint. We traveled to DC from Columbus for the concert, and would do it again and again. There were some truly great moments involving the electric cello and hand percussion. Overall just a fantastic show!

by inexplicability on 5/23/13Warner Theatre - Washington

It was my birthday eve, and it's the best thing I could have gifted myself! Not only his ensemble so talented (all of them were juggling multiple instruments), Ludovico delighted with a solo piece as well. Such a fantastic performance! Such a reverie. Managed to make me smile, delight, well up...

    Took my breath away!

by Einaudifan on 5/20/13Town Hall - New York

I have most of his CDs and love his music. Seeing him and his amazing ensemble was a wonderful way to spend the evening. He is not only a gifted composer and pianist, but strikes you as a very likable individual as well. He was gracious and made sure the other musicians on the stage were recognized and given the credit they deserved. And it seems others appreciate his music as well: Sting and his wife sat in the audience a few rows in front of us!!

Magnificent. Magic. Unforgettable. As a classical and contemporary music lover, this was by far one of the best concerts I've been too. Impossible not to fall in love with Einaudi's latest album, In a time lapse.

    Excellent but...

by Tibun on 5/20/13Town Hall - New York

Excellent and Amazing performance ! As expected from the great Ludovico Einaudi, Daniel Hope and all the great great musicians who are all breathtaking ! You can feel the vibes that flow among them, and the pleasure they have to play together. It was my second time listening to Ludovico Eindaudi LIVE and it was still fantastic ! Bonus : what a pleasure to have a signed version of his new album ! Unfortunately two little disappointment : -I do not call "Golden Seat" a seat that is on the second row at one edge of the room...(my neck is still hurting and I could not see all the musician...) -The quality of the speakers were terrible !! Come on, this class of artist truly deserve the best equipment !!
