About

Ludovico Einaudi on Tour

An Italian pianist whose luscious, minimalist tunes have captured the world's attention, Ludovico Einaudi has enjoyed a lauded career full of pensive music and thrilling, worldly adventures. After finishing his music studies in Milan, Einaudi has traveled extensively, premiering works at the Tanglewood Music Festival, Lincoln Center, UCLA and Teatro alla Scala. In the early ‘10s, he toured the U.S. and Canada for In a Time Lapse, appearing on various radio shows. Einaudi has a rich tradition of recording and releasing live concerts, from his La Scala Concert 03.03.03 to 2009's Live in Prague and 2010's Royal Albert Hall Concert. Additionally, he's participated in many iTunes Festival recordings, including multiple shows in London and a 2019 release from Milan's Piazza Liberty. In a live setting, fans of Einaudi's contemporary classical catalog find themselves transfixed when he and his small band of well-rehearsed instrumentalists take the stage. An aura of mystery (think moody lighting and smoky effects) often accompanies the evocative, sprawling compositions, full of gentle arpeggios and circular chord sequences.

Ludovico Einaudi in Concert

Born in 1955 in Turin, Piedmont, Einaudi was raised in a highly artistic household — his father was a publisher of novels, while his mother was a pianist. The young Einaudi learned piano and guitar, beginning to compose at a young age. In his teens, he trained at the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan, eventually studying with the famed Italian postmodernist Luciano Berio. Graduating from school and premiering works everywhere from Italy to Los Angeles, Einaudi embarked on a successful recording career with Decca Records. He released his first solo piano album, Le Onde, in 1996 to much acclaim, eventually being certified gold in Italy. 2004's Una mattina would prove to be his big breakthrough, charting in Italy and Belgium and going gold in Italy again. 2009's Nightbook used synthesizer sounds to create an atmospheric vibe that built on his repetitive structures, poppy strings and percussion, and playful melodies. 2013's In a Time Lapse was among his most successful records, charting in over 10 countries and going platinum in the Netherlands, silver in the UK and gold in Italy. Einaudi is also well-known for his film scores, which have earned him many distinctions, including Best Soundtrack at the Italian Music Awards, and even an Oscar nomination.

    AMAZING!!!!

The best concert I have seen in the last 10 years. Of course, I knew Einaudi's music was extraordinary but didn't expect the concert to be so beautiful and neatly organized in all of its parts. The support musicians were so good that almost made me forget I was there for Einaudi.

Amazing on albums, even more so live!

Absolutely amazing concert! If you thought Einaudi was great on his albums, his live music is unmatched, with how clear and crisp everything is along with the sheer talent of not only himself, but those who work with him. Every note is ever so carefully planned, yet so smoothly played, and the results are outstanding. *** TIP: For tickets receiving a free, signed CD, you must present ALL ticket stubs to the right side table in the main lobby ***

Ludovico's had profoundly impacted my appreciation of music and life as a whole. I thought the concert would be only his new CD, but he also played all of the songs that made me fall in love with his music in the first place. Amazing performance and orchestra. Will see him again. Just amazing

    Amazing!

Great performance! This was the second time I've seen him perform in NYC ( I think he has only had two concerts here). I was mesmerized the first and this time was even better! The violinist added the most beautiful sound to his performance! I hope he will plan a future event in NYC again.

    Extraordinary Performance!

Beautiful evening with such talented musicians! Would book again in a heartbeat. The only downside of the evening was the temperature of Town Hall. It was absolutely freezing - we had to keep our jackets on the entire night, and that wasn't enough to keep us warm.

Theatre was somewhat noisy, considering that Einaudi's music has a high range of silence to jamming. There was a heater or something that kept clicking on/off, and I heard every little thing happening in the audience. Once I was finally able to tune all that out, Einaudi's performance was phenomenal. He really delivers. His feeling in expression was outstanding. After the concert, I got to meet Mr. Einaudi, and that was a highlight for me and my family. I'll see him again.
