    felt like a musical earthquake...

    by koolherc2010 on 2/2/10James L Knight Center - Miami

Been to many salsa concerts but never felt the ground tremble from absolutely everyone on their feet dancing! Seemed like everyone knew the lyrics of every song played. After 40 years these cats still own top spot! Like Haileys Comet you need to catch them when they come your way or you may never see them in a looooong time..

    Music was unbelievable

    by Lurch1 on 2/2/10James L Knight Center - Miami

I came to this event not knowing much of this group of musicians and singers, but after seeing them, I am going to purchase some of the CD's and DVD's that they have on record......loved them, eventhough some people see them as "COMUNIST" I am sorry but I dont, I see them as artists. GREAT SHOW -do it again.

LOS VAN VAN WERE FANTASTIC!!!! GREAT PERFORMANCE

    by Desiree13 on 2/1/10James L Knight Center - Miami

There was five of us that attended this event and we all enjoyed very much. Not only they are one of the best Cuban Musicians but they are so talented. They have the flavor, the swing, the heat that runs through the Cuban blood. We didn't stop dancing all night, from beginning to end. Great concert!!! Bring them back!!!!!!

Los Van Van did not dissappoint

    by Vanvanera01 on 2/1/10James L Knight Center - Miami

I had been waiting ten years for Los Van Van to play in Miami since I missed their first show at the Arena in '99. I was not thrilled when I heard they were going to be at the James L Knight Center - because it is pointless to sit down at a salsa concert - so I bought tickets on the floor off to one side and that worked out great. It turns out that most of the very enthusiastic crowd were on their feet the entire two hour 40 minute concert and dancing to Muevete and other turbo-charged dance hits. They sang songs from the 90s and ones from their new CD, Arrasando, although I would have preferred more older ones, like Sandunguera. The singers, especially Mayito Rivero, kept the crowd enthralled with his impromtu syncopated lyrics, and the talented musicians made their jazz-rock fusion sound shine. Los Van Van left me wanting more after hearing their encore number, Esto te pone la Cabeza Mala. From a gringa vanvanera!!!

    The Best

    by ElVedado1 on 2/1/10James L Knight Center - Miami

I’m from Havana Cuba and I came to U.S.A. when I was 14 never forget my country, that’s for sure, since I was a little kid I follow Los van Van and all my family same as my older brothers this concert was big, sad for others but for a lot of Cubans was very big, I know that my people has suffer a lot we need to start thinking about the people that are still in the island we need to start getting together as one, I know that everyone has the right to protest but was very sad to see us divide music is music we cannot mix that politic has nothing to do with music, concert was very very good there was no problems everyone was dancing and having a good time everyone was standing up for sure this one was better the one in Miami Arena I will go to any of the concert any time…….one word …..Unforgettable….

by Sanjuanera on 2/1/10James L Knight Center - Miami

After 40 years entartaining the world, the most popular Cuban band keeps making history. It has been 7 years since we had the opportunity to enjoy the intense music and rythm of Los Van Van in the US territorry. It was a very emotional concert where we dance the whole night!!!

    Great Group- Sub-optimal performance

by VanMD on 2/1/10James L Knight Center - Miami

Los Van Van is a legendary group. I would place them in the category of the Beatles. However, for a group that comes to Miami once every ten years, they were way off the mark in their song selection. They got too much into long sets as if they were at a dance party. The Knight Center is a concert hall, not a salsa hall. I don't know how many times they said "We are all Cubans" but what about others in the audience? (Granted, the crowd was heavily Cuban-American, many of whom think of themselves as Cubans before they consider themselves Americans). Look, I'm all for the great Cuban musical spirit which can translate to so many other cultures. But some kind of acknowledgment of those other cultures would have been nice. As far as the dancing and the rhythm....great, let it rip. However, for a group with such a body of work, to play around with long sets in part designed to give band members rests, was not muy bueno.

I left Cuba 30 years ago and I was not an absolute fan of Van Van. The new rhythm was excellent but the name chosen for the Band was a joke, it should have been No Van No Van. As time went by and I began listening to the lyrics of their songs, it was my way of keeping in touch with the Cuban life in Cuba. I do could say I am a Cuban music fan with no borders and because I am living in this country I can go one day with Van Van and next day go and watch Chirino. And finally, about this concert, the sound was terrible, the music was distorted, the drums and congas were above the rest of the instruments and the singers no matter how high they sang we could hardly understand what they were singing. In spite of what I have told you, my wife and I had a lot of fun and the sound kept us doing aerobics all night long. We are going on February 13th for Pantoja and Dyango's concert. I hope the sound will be better this time.

Los Van Van always THE BEST!!!!!!

by Yuyita on 2/1/10James L Knight Center - Miami

After waiting for ten years to have the opportunity to see them it finally happenned: Los Van Van came to Miami. In spite of the rain and the crazy people insulting outside of the venue, more than 4000 people gather to dance of the beat of the music that has made dance three generations of cubans. It was like going back to those days when growing up I learned to dance to their beats. It was music without frontiers. It was memories of my youth back in Havana and of all of those I left behind when I came looking for a better life in this country of freedom. But more than everything, it was the certainty that I will always be CUBAN.
