Los Tigres del Norte on Tour
With their piercing wails and songs that passionately tell of blue-collar hardships, love, loss, and the war on drugs, Los Tigres del Norte evoke plenty of gut-wrenching emotion in their repertoire. Boasting a career that spans more than five decades, these beloved norteños continue to inspire legions of fans from both sides of the border.
Armed with Jorgé's mad accordion riffs, Hernán's fuming electric bass lines, Eduardo's brilliant sax, Luis' snarling 12-string guitar fret-work, and Óscar Lara's powerful drumming, their live performances are known to be riveting. They keep their sets lively and evocative with meaningful messages that build solidarity with the Latin diaspora. Impressively, their in-demand showcases even broke Cardi B's attendance record at RodeoHouston in March 2019.
Los Tigres del Norte Background
No other norteño group tells the story of the immigrant experience in the U.S. quite the way Los Tigres del Norte do. Mexican immigrants themselves, they moved to San Jose, California, from Sinaloa, Mexico, in the late 1960s as teenagers. Led by vocalist and accordionist José Hernández, they started playing locally.
When the Hernández troupe of brothers and cousins caught the attention of aspiring music promoter Art Walker, he recorded their early material and made them the basis of his Fama Records.
In 1971, the frontman heard a live mariachi song about cross-border drug trafficking, a pivotal moment that would inspire Los Tigres' heartfelt and cinematic songwriting. Their wildly popular first corrido, the polka-driven "Contrabando y Traición" ("Smuggling and Betrayal") even inspired a movie of the same name in 1977.
Just about every year since their emergence, the prolific Northern Mexican cowboys have served as working-class heroes, narrating candidly the lives of the voiceless population in songs that transcend generations — hits like "La Jaula De Oro," "La Bala," "La Puerta Negra," and the recent "Un Consentido de Dios."
I grew up listening to this band and it was wonderful to see them 20 years later at one of the most beautiful venues (Disney Hall).
Los Tigres, true to their reputation, put on a fabulous, no nonsense show last night. They sang with great enthusiasm, lots of energy and beautiful voices. They demonstrated a lot of sensitivity to their audience and fan base while speaking out about recent legislation in Arizona. They showed pride in their heritage, their experiences and those of the people who buy their records and come to their shows. They are to be admired.
Los TIgres del Norte are amazing! They were so humble! They even took requests and took pictures with the audience during the entire show! The Walt Disney Concert Hall is beautiful. I felt like I was so close to the stage. I would definitely come back to this venue and I would definitely go see los Tigres del Norte again. They put on a great show!
Tigress Del Norte = They are the best of the best - I loved every minute of their show - Wish it would have been longer to enjoy it more, They are the greatest of ALL. Music is so enjoyable- each of Tigres' voices are exceptional - very pleasant to ones ears - Everyone in the convention center became alive the moment their performance began. So much fun to listen - I was so very much focused - I was in heaven I WISH THEY WOULD PERFORM MORE OFTEN HERE IN THE San Francisco- San Jose Area. I would be there every time they perform - Im still on a cloud with their so awesome music. It was the GREATEST EXPERIENCE EVER. I would have like if they have played all night rather then a couple of hours.
Wonderfull event! I would defenately go again and see them! it's worth the price we paid for the ticket.
Los Tigres Del Norte are an outstanding group! They have an excellent producer and label. I Enjoyed the show! I did not like the opening act! Oscar Padilla needs to work a lot more on his stage presentation, image and voice. He pretty much needs to work on that. Tigres del Norte and the other acts were outstanding! A great wireless stage with the best live engineers!
It was a good show. Performances were great, it's just the set of the Coliseum could be better. A couple of chairs along the floor sides would be great and avoid having glass bottles and drinks all over the floor. What would also be more convenient would be to have the selling of the setups inside the coliseum. Other than that, security and the show itself was great! Had a great time!
From Polo Urias, Alacranes Musical, and Tigres Del Norte, the performance was one that I will remember forever. The Tigres played for almost 2 hours straight and they even took requests from the crowd. Just an unbelievable night in El Paso.
Loved the concert specially wen tigers of the north came out loved them 4ever
I grew up listening to Los Tigres Del Norte when I was younger and still listen to them now. This was the first opportunity I had to watch them perform live and they were AWESOME!!!!! I'd definitely pay to go see them again.
I was so excited ,the show was the best thing eveeeeer!.
Great Music! I liked that they played the songs that were being requested by the audience.
I bought these tiks for my in laws cause they like this group and was hoping it would b great like other times they have seen them. They were very disspointed. The main complaint was the sound of the band. Not sure if it was how they sound or the speaker sounding. They said the scenery was very poor. Overall they did not recommend this even again.
The group was great! They sounded really well. The only thing I didn't like or would recommend that they change is that when they come out they should have a slideshow of their top music videos. I also thought they should have played a bit longer, maybe to the 3 hour mark instead of only playing for about 2 1/2 hours from 9 p.m. to 11:30 with a break in-between of about 5-10 minutes for the sponsors. As for the things that need more work, the tickets said the concert/show started at 7 p.m. but it didn't actually start until 9 p.m. Another thing that the one of the sponsors of the event should do, if they sponsor future events of this kind, is to not show repeatedly their TV reporters instead if they want to promote their programming, they should show clips of the top or most seen shows so they don't bore people to death.
I grew up listening to LTDN, and when I was able to purchase the tickets I splurged and bought my parents the most expensive ones as closes as I could get( Flr Ctr row 7). On my tickets the time showed 7pm but they didn't go on until almost 9:30 which was really hard to endure since there was no opening acts. When they did come one they put on a great show... all the oldies and they even take request..
Any time you get to see the legends of the music industry take stage live, it will always leave you stunned at their amazing performances. This event was no different, especially since they had not visited the Dodge Arena in a few years. Captivating music, strong lyrics, and a band who has dominated the charts decade after decade, what more can you ask for? Well how about having ex band member/brother (Raul) come on stage and sing a few of his favorite songs with his old band! Yes,That's right! A truly moving performance that happens only once in a lifetime, and I am proud to say I was there so capture it with my own eyes. Definitely a 5/5, but hey that's what you should expect from Los Jefe's de Jefe's.
This group is awesome! Kept playing song after song. True artists!
I was a little disappointed at 1st cause the band was almost an hour & a half late, but once they got started, they played non-stop til 11:30, Their songs were amazing & they sing them just like in their CD's. I would love to see them again
The concert was amazing. I really hope they are invited back to the Valley. We get a lot of Country, that's fine, but we have multiple cultures to satisfy, this genre, Norteno music, is part of it. Their professionalism and showmanship carried their show as the sound was sort of horrible and sometimes to crowded. Many times you couldn't hear the words to songs as the mikes were to high in volume. Still, show and performance were awesome.
EXCELLENT , LOS TIGRES PLAY A LOT OF SONGS AND ALL DANCE WITH THE MUSIC, THEY WERE TWO HOURS LATE
