Los Lonely Boys kickoff concert
by MowToe on 8/9/09Emerald Queen Casino - TacomaI have loved the songs of Los Lonely Boys ever since I was introduced to their music several years ago. I had never seen them perform live until this last Friday evening at Emerald Queen Casino. I had always wanted to see them live so I bought 8 VIP tickets very shortly after they went on sale in May. The talent of this trio is nothing short of amazing! A huge amount of harmonious sound was produced from just these three talented young men. Their vocals blend extremely well as can only happen between brothers. They proved themselves quite adept at improvising when it came time to bring up Mitch Kashmar as a special guest. Jojo has the amazing ability on his 6-string bass to keep bass lines going and also play chords at the same time to fill in the sound. He stole the show several times with the antics of him and Henry both playing Henry’s guitar at the same time. He also proved that his voice is every bit as good as Henry’s and Henry seemed to be quite willing to share the limelight. Ringo pounded out some powerful sounds and managed to break his snare drum head – twice! They had a tremendous stage support staff that was on task all throughout the show. The Garza brothers also graciously expressed their gratitude to the fans for their support. My only complaint was the seating at the concert. The seating at the event was made up of portable chairs. Our VIP seats were very small chairs and they were placed flush up against each other. Most of the people in my group are over 6 feet tall so only 6 of us could fit on 8 of these chairs without any space between them. Two people in my group had to go find seating elsewhere. EQC did have some nicer, larger chairs but not enough for the entire venue. I guess their greed to sell more tickets overshadows the comfort of their patrons!
