James Todd Smith is the name.
Wow, what can I say about LL ? I got into hip hop in the early 80's and it has been a part of me ever since. As far as LL, to me he is always a battle rapper first. Yes, some of his stuff got softer in the 90's and 2000's, but, it has always remained mainstream. I have seen interviews with him, and he is just totally genuine and I am a big fan of his acting in NCIS:Los Angeles.
As far as the concert, the venue was decent and the weather was great. Salt N Pepa opened and I have always loved those gals. I do wish though that they would do more of their songs in full and stay away from the medley of songs. The girls are just beautiful.
LL then came onto the stage. Ladies love Cool J, everyone loves cool J. He was terrific, in great shape, sounded great, and you could tell he was having fun entertaining everyone. Definitely in his zone. Considering I started listening to him almost 30 years ago, it's like he was untouched by time. I wish he could have just rapped for hours on end as he has so much material. DJ Z-TRIP was fantastic, got the crowd warmed up, and ripped things, especially on "Rock the Bells". The sound system was loud and clear with good bass response.
Definitely a proud moment in hip hop history. This man has come down a long road and is shining still and that goes for Salt N Pepa too.. It is also kind of weird to say I saw them in concert here on the West Coast. Back in the day, everyone kind of pretty much kept to either one coast or the other.
