About

+LIVE+ have sold over 23 million albums worldwide and earned two number one albums: Throwing Copper and Secret Samadhi. Their catalog is filled with such gems as "Lightning Crashes," "I Alone," "All Over You" and "Lakini's Juice," which live on today as classics on rock radio. Throwing Copper--which the band celebrated in 2019 with a deluxe 25th anniversary edition along with a global tour across major festivals, amphitheaters and arenas--produced the band's biggest single, "Lightning Crashes," which was #1 at Modern Rock radio for ten consecutive weeks.

Throwing Copper reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually surpassed sales of 10 million albums sold, with Rolling Stone honoring the album with placement on their list, "1994: The 40 Best Records From Mainstream Alternative's Greatest Year." Secret Samadhi (1997) immediately shot to #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually went double platinum. The release of the platinum-selling The Distance to Here (1999) turned +LIVE+ into an international powerhouse and moved the band from arenas into stadiums. +LIVE+ has been and remains today a global concert juggernaut.

  • Very Disappointed

by Anonymous on 10/8/13House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 1 out of 5

The opener and the main event were both terrible. The crowd was booing the opener 1/2 way through the performance and he remained on stage. The lead singer was screaming most of the time and had no talent. The main event, Live, was also disappointing. They have changed their lead singer and the group just didn't have the same passion/talent as previously.

  • Great Show!!

by YorkAttendee on 10/8/13House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Show was amazing! They kicked ass! Sad that the crowd booed the opening act. That's just childish...

  • Horrible, they need Ed Kowalczyk

by Anonymous on 10/8/13House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 1 out of 5

Horrible, they need Ed Kowalczyk. The new singer isn't even a good singer! The band sounded great but without Ed it just doesn't work!

It was amazing, it was epic, one of the best shows I've ever seen.

  • LIVE was Awesome

LIve was awesome. Our seats were unbelievable. Couldn't have been happier.

  • Forget nostalgia, this was just outstanding

by Jasonusf on 8/3/13Houst of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Live play the Summerland Tour in Myrtle Beach in June. Trust me when I say they owned the show and should have been the headlining act. I have nothing against Everclear, but Live owned the joint and you could feel the energy dissipate when their set ended. These guys need to be headlining their own shows. Chris Shinn is really impressive as a lead vocalist and is an excellent performer. I really hope this wasn't a one shot deal and these guys bring on new material and keep it going. They weren't just good as a nostalgic act, they were badass in any generation.

  • AWESOME

I can't wait until LIVE comes back into the area! This is the first time I saw them, and it was a great experience! COME BACK SOON TO THE CHICAGO AREA!

  • Live was Amazing!

by CardinalKSB on 7/23/13Palladium Ballroom - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Live's performance at the Palladium Ballroom in Dallas was nothing short of incredible! From the opening teaser of The Dam at Otter Creek as the band walked on stage it was obvious the 4 year wait was about to be made worth it! When the guys ripped into show opener All Over You, we were all reminded of truly great Live is on stage. New lead singer Chris Shinn has the voice to capture the fans. The growl in his voice was evident throughout Lakini's Juice, Operation Spirit and the closer White Discussion. This was my 11th time seeing the band and it was probably the loudest the band has been, definitely rejuvenated from the time off. Go see them on this tour and the coming tour with the new album!

  • Live is UNBELIEVABLE!

by stxblue on 7/18/13Concrete Street - Corpus ChristiRating: 5 out of 5

Saw Live for the first time in Corpus Christi, TX on the Summerland tour...the show was good, but LIVE made the whole concert amazing! They should have played a longer set, and in my opinion were the best performers of the night! I can't say enough about their performance, so passionate, had fun, sounded amazing. I will never pass up an opportunity to see them again!!

  • Shinn is the real deal- LIVE is back

by UncleVen on 7/17/13Time Warner Uptown Amphitheater - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

I'm an old school live fan- same age as the guys in the band- and their albums and accompanying tours meant the world to me. I still have my tour shirts from back in 93 and 97- I have bootlegs and every CD single I could get my hands on so that I could have live versions of their music. After TDTH the music started to change- and I kept wishing for a return to Throwing Copper and Secret Samadhi. I even went to see The Gracious Few and Ed solo after the split with Ed. It just wasn't the same. I left both shows bummed out. So it was with extreme caution that I went to see Summerland- Shinn is from Charlotte, NC- and was talking to friends out front of the venue. He nodded and smiled as I entered wearing a 97 Live Samadhi shirt. I asked if they we're playing Lakini- he said "I believe so" and I said you better. He laughed- I wasn't kidding. So the boys came out and they killed it- Shinn fits right in - he sings the older stuff the way I want to hear it- none of that falsetto crap Ed started doing. Shinn is entergentic and acts like he's been there all along- I heard the tracks on the web site with SHinns voice and wasn't too excited for the show. Now that I have heard Shinn live - I cant wait to hear the NEW stuff they are recording with him. Shinn struck a balance between being the lead singer/new guy that was respectful of the old material but made you understand that he's not holding Ed's place in line. Oh yeah and Chad Chad and Patrick- are exactly as awesome as you remember them to be. I loved every second of this show- and I cant wait to see them again at the House of Blues in Atlantic CIty

  • LIVE will rock you to your core!!

by LoveMyLolo on 7/8/13The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I saw LIVE at The Wiltern in LA on June 28th and they rocked the house!! Such an awesome show! They played all the best songs, like White Discussion and my absolute favorite, Iris. I'm a longtime fan and trust me when I say that it does not even matter that Chris Shinn is not the original singer because he kicks ass! Don't miss your chance to see them on tour!!

  • LIVE ROCKS!!!

by sshaymarie on 7/8/13Wiltern Theater - LOS ANGELESRating: 5 out of 5

Saw the Summerland tour in LA and the LIVE energy was the same as always because it is the connection with the fans that brings the energy. :) I am glad they are back and am looking forward to the new tunes! :)

  • A Show YOU Don't Want To Miss!!!!!!

by Moose92009 on 7/8/13Humphreys Concerts by the Bay - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I had been waiting for this night a long time. Live has been my favorite band since the day I heard Throwing Copper. Then to experience Mental Jewelry shorty after, it was musical bliss. I have followed the band through all of their albums, and concerts. I was getting disappointed in the bands direction after The Distance to Here, although, I stuck it out and continued my support. After the hiatus in 2009 and learning why/how this happened, it all started making sense. The spirit of Live had died many years earlier. It became Ed's music, not Live's music. The collaboration was over. Ed wanted sole control. The other members rightfully resisted, to a degree. Not enough of a degree at the time, my opinion. It seemed Live were losing fans because the sound (especially the album, Songs from Black Mountain) did not capture the spirit of Live at all. It was ALL ED KOWALCZYK. This band was never about just Ed. When this band was at their peak, they all wrote, and performed their music together, with heart, soul, and passion. It all went downhill when Ed decided the band was only about him. Now that LIve has gotten back together with Chris Shinn as singer, the passion is back. Chris, Chad T, Chad G, Patrick are finally happy again doing what they love to do. Their performance spoke for itself. Chris is a true professional. He was up on stage commanding your spirit. He has brought back the essence that Live used to be. They are also the nicest people you will ever meet. And they want to meet YOU. Give them a shot and check out their show. YOU will NOT be disappointed.

  • Live is a MUST SEE!

    by mmmkay123 on 6/24/13LC Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Seriously,+ Live+ LIVE is a mind blowing, face melting experience. This band has got it together and never disappoints. Do yourself a favor and see them when they come to a city near you. Heck, make the trip to see them!

  • Chris Shinn is the answer LIVE needed

    by live2cd on 6/23/13LC Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

great energy, the WD opener took us ALL by surprise and shinn had us all hooked from the get-go. hearing the rarity 'iris' was sweet and seeing chad taylor bring the stomp back during lakinis juice was great. these guys flat out took the roof off. intense, only wish the set was longer than 36 measly minutes. hope they come back after the new record releases and play 90+ mins. GO SEE LIVE!!!!!

  • LIVE is BACK!!!

by AngrE on 6/21/13The Electric Factory - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Summerland Tour 2013 - What an amazing night! It was impossible to not have a great time. Of course, I was there specifically to see LIVE, but all four bands were very entertaining. Filter was the most impressive to me, of the other three bands. They put on a great show and their music, new and old, was awesome. They definitely gained a new fan in me, and I'm sure there were many others. LIVE absolutely was the highlight of the night for me and most of the crowd at The Electric Factory. New singer Chris Shinn is an incredible talent, and he and the band looked and sounded like they've been playing together for decades. I can't wait to hear their new album. LIVE is definitely back, and it was well worth the wait!!!

  • 30th time and still as powerfull as the first

    by the0distance on 6/15/13Innsbrook After Hours - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen +Live+ 30 times now and they still have the power and love as strong as the first time I saw them! Shinn is amazing with keeping the sound of +Live+ alive! Chad, Chad and Patrick are still as memorable as the first time I saw them back in '91. I was lucky enough to meet the guys twice and they are the most down to earth and loving group. I would so recommend seeing them rock like they did back in the day if you get the chance!

  • LiVE: Same Awesome sound!!!!

by MntlJewlry on 6/14/13Red Hat Amphitheatre - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

These kids, after 21 years still rock a house. New lead singer, same great sound. It was a pleasure to finally see them after 5 years. It was as though no time had passed since seeing them.
