2 1/2 hrs. of a great performance. Puts all his heart into it.
I never considered Little Steven as a solo artist. I've seen him a few times with Bruce and was indifferent about his participation. Sure, he slung a decent guitar but his backup vocals never struck me as standing out. As this show was coming up, and after listening to his solo music online, my expectations were raised. Well, he and the Disciples of Soul delivered and now I am an avid fan. This show was everything I hoped it would be and more. Little Steven had 15 musicians on stage that delivered one great song after another running the gamut from Rock to Soul to Blues to Doo Wop and even Funk. His set arrangement had you on your feet for the first hour, then gave you some more introspection and personal stories for the next 30 minutes and then brought you back to your feet for the rest of the show. His 2 hour set, plus a 30 minute encore, including a surprise guest in Peter Wolf with two J. Geils covers was spectacular. Highly recommend for anyone, especially the reluctant pessimist who will surely be converted. Enjoy!
Amazing show, after hearing the warmup/cd release show as broadcast on Sirius/XM's E ST Radio and Underground Garage back around July 4th. Obviously, the Disciples have improved dramatically since July, which stands to reason after 3 months of playing. For me, the show was 35 years in the making, and loved every second of it. I've always been a fan of that classic Asbury Jukes horn sound, which, quite frankly, Southside Johnny hasn't been using for years. Not surprised that the show was not sold out, Steven's music isn't exactly what is popular, but for those of us in E ST Nation, it was all we needed. To close, 2 personal highlights: getting a complimentary seat upgrade from the balcony to 4 rows from the stage in the orchestra; once again, seeing Peter Wolf guest at a show
OMG! Five piece horn section, 3 women backup singers, Little Steven in full headscarf regalia with leather cape looking like he just arrived on the planet from Mars, 2 keyboardists, a percusionist, killer guitar from Marc Ribler - what a great band. Very tight, danceble set, included all the LS hits. Joined on-stage at the end of the set by Boston's own Peter Wolf for J Geils band covers of Lookin' for a Love and Freeze Frame. Unbelievable.
Great band. Great songs. Those backup singers. Steve. It was just great.
Little Steven (he’ll always be “Miami” Steve to me) brought down the house tonight, fabulous band! An electric current rocked thru the crowd when Stevie Van Zandt introduced “hometown boy” Woofa Goofa, Peter Wolf near the end of the show and they absolutely SMOKED thru 2 J Geils classics; “Lookin' for Love” and "Freeze Frame." FYI, the 3 stars is for the toilet bowl of a venue called The Orpheum Theater, NOT Little Steven's show
Th is was a great show. 15 people on stage Terrific Horn section and awesome back up singers Little Steven rocked the house and the surprise appearance by Peter Wolf topped off a great show. I don't wanna go Home !!!
It is great to see someone play because they love what they do ...great band with peter wolf coming on stage to do two songs. Fun night of rock and roll
Amazing show - great energy, loved the set....YES, LITTLE STEVEN AND THE DISCIPLES SOUL!
If you like good music and have the opportunity to see Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul, don't think twice: GO AND HAVE FUN! 5 stars for the performance.
The 2-hour plus set featured songs from Little Steven's most recent excellent "Soulfire" album and tunes from his earlier records. The Disciples of Soul, which features a 5-piece horn section and three backing vocalists, is a terrific band. The George Theater in Staten Island is a lovely venue. The show was a great experience.
I really didn't know what to expect and thats the way you should go into it. It was a wall of beautiful harmonies and a step back in time. The band was outstanding. The back up singers were harmonious and Little Steven was spot on.
WoW is how it sums up his show. A great combination of rock, soul and touches of reggae! Had an amazing time. Little Steven and his fantastic band give it their all.
Steven was at the top of his Rock & Roll eclecticism. Great band, great hooks.
A show you can not miss. Spread the Word, The album of the year along with show of the year.
a great show at a beautiful venue. Let the Soul Revue live on.
My wife gave me these tickets for our Anniversary... She had no idea what kind of music this was but was willing to go with me .....all through the show she was on her feet yelling and singing and she kept saying " this is amazing just amazing " ....
And it was worth it. Last saw Steven after he left the E Street Band he was great then he was better now
I also loved the venue...steven was great..so much fun
High energy show from the start and never lets up. Thought they were great when I saw them early and n the tour but now they are firing on all cylinders. Rock music at its best
