Beginning with a series of viral mixtapes and his 2018 debut album Harder Than Ever, Lil Baby has joined Atlanta’s rich lineage of generation-defining rappers; those mixtapes (including 2017’s aptly-titled Perfect Timing) included buzzworthy cameos from Atlanta’s Lil Yachty, Young Thug and Gunna. In Lil Baby’s 2022 documentary Untrapped, Drake — who also features on Lil Baby’s 2018 Top 10 single “Yes Indeed” — praised the young rapper, saying he quickly put “distance between himself and other people” with his storytelling, unique flow and relentless output. The Grammy Award winner is now one of the most in-demand rappers in the world, having the most popular album of 2020 with My Turn and becoming a touring juggernaut on 2021’s massively successful Back Outside Tour with Lil Durk.

First opening act was great all in between before YK and lil baby was pretty bad. The best act of the night was defiantly YK, lil baby was second, which is fine. But the moments leading up to them was a buzzkill.

by Chelle on 1/26/20The Anthem - WashingtonI bought a pair of tickets for my boyfriend and I to go, because he loves Rod Wave. We got VIP seating and the view was perfect & seating was so spacious. There was room for us to dance around and have a good time, especially since drinks were flowing. There's a bar at every turn and really helped get the night lit - at a price, of course. The bartenders were swift & service was great. It turned out to be an amazing night. Both Rod Wave & Lil' Baby turned out to be a pair of amazingly lit performers. OH! And the show started on time! And the DJ sets in between the performers were lit too and not too long you got tired of them. Great night. We're going to see Rod Wave at the Fillmore in March. We hope to catch another show at the Anthem soon.

Even after Rod Wave performed (which was awesome!) we waited almost 45 mins for Lil Baby to come out. Then after he finally came to stage, he only performed 32 minutes. Very disappointing.

The promotion team for this concert sucked, the DJ could not keep the crowd entertained, we stood with no music for hours a time. The DJ’s did not give notice of leaving or intermissions and left the crowd wondering what was next... Rod wave did not give his all from his performance to his DJ... I would hope that this never happens again, so much talent and potential all wasted... Major life entertainment you have to do better when people are traveling and spending money to see a performance.
