    Dissapointed

by jul on 3/31/22The Wonder Bar - Asbury Park

I saw the event on Facebook - clicked on the link - and bought the tickets. I never went on the light of day website. When I got to event, I wasn't allowed in because my boyfriend was not vaccinated. NO WHERE did it say this besides the LOD website. Not on Ticketmaster - Not on Wonder Bar website! I have been to other events recently where it was clearly indicated when you purchase the ticket thru Ticketmaster what the requirements were. - but not this time. So needless to say I threw away $45 for tickets and never got inside.

The organization really came through this year.

by Darry on 3/15/22Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

Bob’s Birthday Bash at the Count Basie was amazing. The sound system is impressive. The performances were perfectly timed. My favorites were James Maddock and Jesse Malin but I was very entertained by others like Miss Emily and Anthony D’Amato.

    Underwhelmed

by Harry Nevus on 3/15/22Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

I applaud all the artists who gave of their time and their talent. I’m also happy that Bob got a good send up for his birthday. And yes, I know it’s a charity, so the prices will be higher. But for what I paid, there should have been bigger names on the bill. Historically, Bruce, Bon Jovi, and/or Southside would be expected to pop in for a couple numbers. Maybe because it’s the year back from Covid, but I was underwhelmed because nobody well-known showed up. Also, parking at or near the Count Basie theater is abysmal.

    Grushecky, Nile, D'Urso, Malin.......et al

by LOD Newbie on 3/14/22The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

This was my first LOD NJ experience as March travel is much more predictable than January travel. It was absolutely amazing. The continuing performances were tight with nary a break (which made sneaking away for a 5 minute restroom break a tough decision on timing). It was clear that some attendees were expecting a surprise visitor to show up on stage which was unfortunate because every performer was at the top of their game and delivered. I am a huge fan of Willie Nile and his crew as well as Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, but also deeply appreciative of Joe D'Urso and Stone Caravan but also the tireless work he does behind the scenes to make an event like this happen in NJ as well as Canada and Europe. Along the way, I got to see other unexpected great performances like Remember Jones and Guy Davis. Wonderful!

    A great night

by Jake on 3/14/22The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

A very impressive lineup of talent. Best part was how well organized the night was. Alternating acoustic music and band performances led to no down time and kept the energy high

    Tremendous experience

by Susan on 1/26/20Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

Music bursting out of every venue in Asbury Park. Incredible talent and a surprise visit from the Boss, himself. I have been coming to this event for 20 years and it keeps getting better and better. Lifetime friendships and raising money for a worthy cause, that is what LOD means to me.

    epic

    by P. R. on 1/22/20Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

What more to say... great cause, great venue, great lineup, and 90 minutes of Bruce playing with Jesse Malin, Willie Nile, and Joe Grushecky! Great way to spend 6 hours (!) at a show supporting a cause near and dear to my heart (and my own brain). And seeing Bruce was icing. 5 stars (even without Bruce)!

Mcmenamin, Wallace, Fields and band bring back Harry

by Roger on 1/22/20Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

Remembering Harry Chapin was wonderful...John and the band were just awesome. Saw John 25 years ago, and the time has just enriched his connection with Harrys music. Big John and Howard reminded me why I fell in love with Harrys music in the first place. The remaining members of the band...keyboard, guitar and cello were absolutely great as well. Its very hard to create a feeling, especially when the principal is not there... but they did it... And he was.

    Wonderful concert, wonderful venue

by mninj on 1/22/20Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

Wonderful staff!! walked me through paying for parking. Don't know if I would have gotten a ticket, but this took care of the worries. Remembering Harry Chapin is always an excellent experience; wish they played in the area more often. Never tire or hearing the music, and these folks are true to Harry.

    LOD Rocks it!!

    by A. O. on 1/21/20Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

Spectacular Event Starting on Sunday before with afternoon Cover Me show at the Stone Pony. It's just impossible to get to all acts or venues. But these stand out. Remember Jones' TOMMY performance at the Paramount was beyond exceptional. Not sure if it's possible to do it better! Sorry I missed the Bongos and Dramarama but choices had to be made. The Weeklings were tremendous Friday night at the Pony. Gems included the All Together Now show at McCloone's Saturday afternoon with Bob Burger, Richard Barone, Qunicy Mumford and MOST impressive was Adam Ezra. Of course Bob's Birthday Bash at the Paramount with multiple Springsteen appearances stands out as an AMAZING evening, enough can't be said. Finally, the three Sunday Songwriters by the Sea events was very good. Again I think Adam Erza (unknown to me prior to LOD) stood out just above Willie Nile and Joe Grushecky to name a few.

    LOD Wonder Bar

by Concertfan on 1/21/20The Wonder Bar - Asbury Park

This all day concert venue featured great NJ blues band. Great drinks, good bar food all the while listening to fine music by bands and duos that was easy to find your grove. Best of all were the e tickets for admission.

    Epic Show

by Luseana on 1/21/20Paramount Theatre - Asbury Park

Five plus hours of music all for a great cause. Light of Day has spent twenty years raising money for Parkinson’s, ALS, and related diseases and disorders. The musicians are all family and check their egos at the door. Bands and solo artists and duos from all over the country and world come to together at the Jersey Shore to sing and play their hearts out united in a common purpose that music can make a difference. This was the best lineup of artists I’ve ever seen at Light of Day and the Paramount rocked continuously until the final song in which everyone in attendance sang Happy Birthday to Bob Benjamin... the man behind the whole reason for this festival. My all time favorite bands along with first time and returning artists put on a high energy, musically fine tuned extravaganza that was delicious. Bruce was just the cherry on top.

This was my first Light of Day event in the legendary Stone Pony . Fantastic venue some great bands and performance ,Hollis Brown and James Maddock band in particular. I thought the Weeklings where disappointing and poor ,little more than a second rate Beatles cover Band
